Abstract

We demonstrate quantum correlations in the transverse plane of continuous wave light beams by producing −4.0 dB, −2.6 dB and −1.5 dB of squeezing in the TEM00, TEM10 and TEM20 Hermite-Gauss modes with an optical parametric amplifier, respectively. This has potential applications in quantum information networking, enabling parallel quantum information processing. We describe the setup for the generation of squeezing and analyse the effects of various experimental issues such as mode overlap between pump and seed and nonlinear losses.

Tools for Multimode Quantum Information: Modulation, Detection, and Spatial Quantum Correlations

Mikael Lassen, V. Delaubert, Jiří Janoušek +7 more

We present the key elements required for continuous variable parallel quantum information protocols based on spatial multimode quantum correlations. We describe techniques for encoding, combining and detecting spatial quantum information with high efficiency in the individual transverse modes. Until now, the missing feature for the implementation of such protocols was the generation of squeezing in higher order transverse Hermite-Gauss modes. We experimentally demonstrate squeezing in selective modes by fine-tuning the phase matching condition of the nonlinear chi(2) material and the cavity resonance condition of an optical parametric amplifier. Combined, these results open the way to practical multimode optical quantum information systems.

Generation of squeezed TEM01modes with periodically poled KTiOPO4crystal

Rongguo Yang, Hengxin Sun, Junxiang Zhang +1 more

Spatial quantum optics and quantum information based on the high order transverse mode are of importance for the super-resolution measurement beyond the quantum noise level. We demonstrated experimentally the transverse plane TEM 01 Hermite—Gauss quantum squeezing. The squeezed TEM 01 mode is generated in a degenerate optical parametric amplifier with the nonlinear crystal of periodically poled KTiOPO 4 . The level of 2.2-dB squeezing is measured using a spatial balance homodyne detection system.

Experimental Generation of Multimode Squeezing in an Optical Parametric Amplifier

Kui Liu, Shuzhen Cui, Rongguo Yang +2 more

We experimentally demonstrate that HG 01 (Hermit—Gauss) and HG 10 squeezed states can be generated simultaneously in an optical parametric amplifier. The HG 01 mode is a bright squeezed state and the HG 10 mode is a vacuum squeezed state. The squeezing of the HG 01 mode is −2.8 dB, and the squeezing of the HG 10 mode is −1.6 dB. We also demonstrate that the output field is also continuous-variable entanglement with orbital angular momentum.

Observation of a comb of optical squeezing over many gigahertz of bandwidth

Roxy Senior, Gregory N. Milford, Jiří Janoušek +6 more

We experimentally demonstrate the generation of optical squeezing at multiple longitudinal modes and transverse Hermite-Gauss modes of an optical parametric amplifier. We present measurements of approximately 3 dB squeezing at baseband, 1.7 GHz, 3.4 GHz and 5.1 GHz which correspond to the first, second and third resonances of the amplifier. We show that both the magnitude and the bandwidth of the squeezing at the higher longitudinal modes is greater than can be observed at baseband. The squeezing observed is the highest frequency squeezing reported to date.

Compact squeezed light source for higher-order Hermite–Gaussian modes

Jiaming Li, Juntao He, Hongbo Liu +3 more

Squeezed light is a fundamental nonclassical resource in quantum optics, and considerable progress has been made in its generation and manipulation. Here, we experimentally demonstrate a compact higher-order spatial modes squeezed light source, achieved by integrating second-harmonic generation and optical parametric oscillation within a single doubly resonant cavity. The HG 2 m ,2 n pump field, which is essential for the generation of HG m , n mode squeezed states, is produced via internal second-harmonic generation, substantially enhancing both the conversion efficiency and mode purity. With this configuration, we successfully generated squeezed vacuum states in the HG 0,0 , HG 1,0 , and HG 2,0 modes, achieving squeezing levels of −4.53 ± 0.26 dB, −3.68 ± 0.19 dB, and −2.58 ± 0.08 dB, respectively. This platform provides a viable pathway for scalable, multimode quantum state generation, with broad potential in quantum metrology and quantum communication.
