Abstract

In order to analyze effect of atomic distribution on deposition preparation of nanometer gratings under the action of collimated laser, based on semi-classical theory and Runge-Kutta numerical integration algorithm, the characteristics of dissipative force and the distribution of chromium atoms in 1-D optical molasses was discussed. Then the distribution of chromium atoms was simulated under different laser parameters. The results show that the best distribution appears when the detuning of the laser frequency equals to half of line width of chromium atoms. After the atom beam passing through 1-D optical molasses, its spatial width was suppressed to 0.43 times of that before and the atomic density becomes 1.79 times larger than before, under the condition that laser power equals to 40mW and laser detuning is-2.5MHz.This results show that the atomic distribution can be improved under the action of collimated laser and it's helpful for the deposition preparation of nanometer gratings.

Collimation of chromium atomic beam by means of 1-D Doppler laser

Tongbao Li

In order to study how the collimation of chromium ( Cr) atomic by means of 1-D Doppler laser varying with laser power, laser detuning and interaction length after pre-collimation,the correlation between the coUimation and laser parameters was obtained after simulation with the fourth-order Runge-Kutta type algorithm at an adaptive step size. The results show that after precollimated by a slit in 5mm long,600mm far away from the downstream, the best collimation results can be obtained at laser power of 20mW,laser detuning of -0.5.Γ (Γ is the natural line-width of Cr) ,and twice of the minimum interaction zone.

Analysis of Nanometer Structure for Chromium Atoms in Gauss Standing Laser Wave

Wentao Zhang, Baohua Zhu, Xianming Xiong

The equation of motion of two-level chromium atoms in Gauss standing laser wave is discussed and the distribution of chromium atoms is given under different transverse velocity conditions. The results show that the focusing position of atoms will be affected by the transverse velocity of atoms. Based on the four-order Runge-Kutta method, the locus of chromium atoms in Gauss standing laser wave is simulated. The three-dimensional characteristics of nanometer structures are stimulated under perfect and emanative conditions.

The influence of divergence angle on the deposition of neutral chromium atoms using a laser standing wave

Wentao Zhang, Baohua Zhu, Jing Huang +2 more

The characteristics of neutral chromium atoms in the standing wave field are discussed. Based on a semi-classical model, the motion equation of neutral atoms in the laser standing wave field is analyzed, and the trajectories of the atoms are obtained by simulations with the different divergence angles of the atomic beam. The simulation results show that the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the stripe is 2.75 nm and the contrast is 38.5: 1 when the divergence angle equals 0 mrad, the FWHM is 24.1 nm and the contrast is 6.8:1 when the divergence angle equals 0.2 mrad and the FWHMs are 58.6 and 137.8 nm, and the contrasts are 3.3: 1 and 1.6: 1 when the divergence angles equal 0.5 and 1.0 mrad, respectively.

Collimation of chromium beam by one-dimensional doppler laser with large collimating slit

Baowu Zhang, Wentao Zhang, Yan Ma +2 more

In this paper, we present experimental study of effects of laser power and interaction length on collimation of chromium atomic beam by one-dimensional Doppler laser with large collimating slit of 5 mm in length, where the fluorescence is treated by Matlab. In addition, calculation by an adaptive step size, fourth-order Runge-Kutta type algorithm is done corresponding to the experiment. Both results show that with fixed interaction length, when the laser power becomes larger, or with fixed laser power, when the interaction length becomes longer, the FWHM of collimated atomic beam becomes smaller, and the peak becomes higher.

Xianming Xiong, Yanqun Li, Wentao Zhang

Based on two-level atomic theory and Doppler Effect, the laser collimation of Cr atoms with 3-D simulation analysis has been studied in this paper. By analyzing the 3-D force on chromium atom, a theoretical 3-D model is built and the accurate 3-D trajectory of chromium atoms in laser cooling field has been achieved. The final 3-D distribution of atoms with different parameters has also been described.
