Analysis of Cr atom focusing deposition properties in the double half Gaussian standing wave field

Sheng Chen, Yan Ma, Pingping Zhang +5 more

The use of the dipole force on atoms is a new technology that is used to build nanostructures. In this way, a high quality standard nano-grating can be obtained. Based on the semi-classical model, the motion equation is investigated and the trajectories of atoms in double half Gaussian standing wave field are simulated. Compared with the Gaussian standing wave field, the double half Gaussian standing wave can well focus the Cr atoms. In order to obtain this kind of beam, a prism is designed and the experimental result shows that the beam is well generated.

Investigation of atom-optical properties of laser focused Cr atomic deposition

LU Xiang-dong, Tongbao Li, Yan Ma +2 more

Gating structure of one dimensional Cr layer is experimentally obtained through the technology of laser focused atomic deposition. The periodicity of grating is (212.8±0.2) nm measured by atomic force microscope, which is just equal to half of the wavelength of laser standing-wave field. Then, based on the semiclassical model and numerical calculation of the Adams-Bashforth-Moulton algorithm, both Cr atom motion trajectories are simulated and the atom-optical properties are analyzed at the same experimental conditions. The results show that the analytical results agree well with the experimental results.

The technology of laser-focused atomic deposition can be used to develop the nanostrucrure transfer standard of length. When the frequency of laser standing wave is higher than the resonant frequency of atoms, the atoms will be focused on the wave node of the standing wave. The collimated Cr atoms are focused by a standing-wave laser field as they are deposited on a silicon substrate.Atomic force microscopy measurements shows a spacing of 215nm.
