Abstract

We present a proposal for implementing quantum phase gates using selective interactions. We analyze selectivity and the possibility to implement these gates in two particular systems, namely, trapped ions and cavity QED.

Implementing quantum controlled phase gates with trapped ions

NI Zhi-xiang

A scheme for implementing three-qubit quantum controlled phase gate is proposed in the trap-ion system. It only requires the resonant interaction between trapped ions and lasers.Compared to the scheme in other papers, the steps needed are much less.In addition, the scheme doesn't need any type of measurement.

A three level atom and a longitudinal mode of a cavity can implement two-qubit quantum phase gates. The qubits are represented by the zero-and one-photon states of the two circular polarization states of the field.

Scheme for Implementing an N -Qubit Phase Gate via Selective Atom–Field Interaction with Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics

Shao Xiao-Qiang, Jin Xing-Ri, Ai‐Dong Zhu +2 more

A scheme for implementing a two-qubit phase gate with atoms sent through a high-Q optical cavity is proposed by choosing nonidentical coupling constants between the atoms and cavity. The atomic spontaneous emission can be suppressed due to the large atom-field detuning. Moreover, the scheme can be generalized to implement an N-qubit phase gate and the gating time does not change with an increase of the number of qubits.

Generation of two-mode nonclassical states and a quantum-phase-gate operation in trapped-ion cavity QED

Xu‐Bo Zou, K. Pahlke, Wolfgang M. Mathis

We propose a scheme to generate nonclassical states of a quantum system, which is composed of the one-dimensional trapped-ion motion and a single-cavity field mode. We show that two-mode SU(2), entangled coherent states, two-mode squeezed vacuum states, and their superposition can be generated. If the vibration mode and the cavity mode are used to represent separately a qubit, a quantum phase gate can be implemented.
