Off-diagonal correlations of lattice impenetrable bosons in one dimension

Abstract

We consider off-diagonal correlation functions of impenetrable bosons on a lattice. By using the Jordan–Wigner transformation the one-body density matrix is represented as a (Toeplitz) determinant of a matrix of fermionic Green functions. Using the replica method we calculate exactly the full long-range asymptotic behaviour of the one-body density matrix. We discuss how subleading oscillating terms, originating from short-range correlations, give rise to interesting features in the momentum distribution.

Universal correlations of trapped one-dimensional impenetrable bosons

Dimitri M. Gangardt

We calculate the asymptotic behaviour of the one body density matrix of one-dimensional impenetrable bosons in finite size geometries. Our approach is based on a modification of the Replica Method from the theory of disordered systems. We obtain explicit expressions for oscillating terms, similar to fermionic Friedel oscillations. These terms are universal and originate from the strong short-range correlations between bosons in one dimension.

One particle reduced density matrix of impenetrable bosons in one dimension at zero temperature

H. G. Vaidya, Craig A. Tracy

We compute exactly the one particle reduced density matrix ρ (r) of a system of impenetrable bosons in one dimension at zero temperature. We do this by relating ρ (r) to a certain double scaling limit of the transverse correlation function of the one-dimensional spin 1/2 X–Y model. We study the asymptotic behavior of ρ (r) for large r. This expansion contains oscillatory terms which arise due to the intrinsic quantum mechanical nature of the problem. We use these results to discuss the analytic structure of the momentum density function n (k).

One-particle density matrix and momentum distribution function of one-dimensional anyon gases

Raoul Santachiara, Pasquale Calabrese

We present a systematic study of the Green functions of a one-dimensional gas of impenetrable anyons. We show that the one-particle density matrix is the determinant of a Toeplitz matrix whose large N asymptotic is given by the Fisher–Hartwig conjecture. We provide a careful numerical analysis of this determinant for general values of the anyonic parameter, showing in full details the crossover between bosons and fermions and the reorganization of the singularities of the momentum distribution function. We show that the one-particle density matrix satisfies a Painlevé VI differential equation that is then used to derive the small distance and large momentum expansions. We find that the first non-vanishing term in this expansion is always k −4 , that is proved to be true for all couplings in the Lieb–Liniger anyonic gas and that can be traced back to the presence of a delta function interaction in the Hamiltonian.

Zero temperature correlation functions for the impenetrable fermion gas

Vadim Cheianov, Mikhail B. Zvonarev

We calculate the long time and distance asymptotics of the one-particle correlation functions in the model of impenetrable spin 1/2 fermions in 1 + 1 dimensions. We consider the spin disordered zero temperature regime, which occurs when the limit T → 0 is taken at a positive chemical potential. The asymptotic expressions are found from the asymptotic solution of the matrix Riemann–Hilbert problem related to the determinant representation of the correlation functions.

Exact asymptotics of long-range quantum correlations in a non-equilibrium steady state

Shachar Fraenkel, Moshe Goldstein

Abstract Out-of-equilibrium states of many-body systems tend to evade a description by standard statistical mechanics, and their uniqueness is epitomized by the possibility of certain long-range correlations that cannot occur in equilibrium. In quantum many-body systems, coherent correlations of this sort may lead to the emergence of remarkable entanglement structures. In this work, we analytically study the asymptotic scaling of quantum correlation measures—the mutual information (MI) and the fermionic negativity—within the zero-temperature steady state of voltage-biased free fermions on a one-dimensional lattice containing a non-interacting impurity. Previously, we have shown that two subsystems on opposite sides of the impurity exhibit volume-law entanglement, which is independent of the absolute distances of the subsystems from the impurity. Here, we go beyond that result and derive the exact form of the subleading logarithmic corrections to the extensive terms of correlation measures, in excellent agreement with numerical calculations. In particular, the logarithmic term of the MI asymptotics can be encapsulated in a concise formula, depending only on simple four-point ratios of subsystem length scales and on the impurity scattering probabilities at the Fermi energies. This echoes the case of equilibrium states, where such logarithmic terms may convey universal information about the physical system. To compute these exact results, we devise a hybrid method that relies on Toeplitz determinant asymptotics for correlation matrices in both real space and momentum space, successfully circumventing the inhomogeneity of the system. This method could potentially find wider use for analytical calculations of entanglement measures in similar scenarios.
