Off-diagonal correlations in one-dimensional anyonic models: a replica approach

Abstract

We propose a generalization of the replica trick that allows us to calculate the large distance asymptotics of off-diagonal correlation functions in anyonic models with a proper factorizable ground-state wavefunction. We apply this new method to the exact determination of all the harmonic terms of the correlations of a gas of impenetrable anyons and to the Calogero–Sutherland model. Our findings are checked against available analytic and numerical results.

Off-diagonal correlations of the Calogero-Sutherland model

G. E. Astrakharchik, Dimitri M. Gangardt, Yu. E. Lozovik +1 more

We study correlation functions of the Calogero-Sutherland model in the whole range of the interaction parameter. Using the replica method we obtain analytical expressions for the long-distance asymptotics of the one-body density matrix in addition to the previously derived asymptotics of the pair-distribution function [D.M. Gangardt and A. Kamenev, Nucl. Phys. B 610, 578 (2001)]. The leading analytic and nonanalytic terms in the short-distance expansion of the one-body density matrix are discussed. Numerical results for these correlation functions are obtained using Monte Carlo techniques for all distances. The momentum distribution and static structure factor are calculated. The potential and kinetic energies are obtained using the Hellmann-Feynman theorem. Perfect agreement is found between the analytical expressions and numerical data. These results allow for the description of physical regimes of the Calogero-Sutherland model. The zero temperature phase diagram is found to be of a crossover type and includes quasicondensation, quasicrystallization and quasisupersolid regimes.

Harmonic Lattice Approximation and Density Correlations in the Calogero-Sutherland Model

Diptiman Sen, Ranjan Bhaduri

For a one-dimensional model in which the two-body interactions are long-range and strong, the system almost crystallizes. The harmonic modes of such a lattice can be used to compute the ground state wave function and the dynamical density-density correlations. We use this method to calculate the density corrrelations in the Calogero-Sutherland model. We show numerically that the correlations obtained are quite accurate even if the coupling is not very large. Our method is considerably simpler than the ones used to derive the exact results, and yields expressions for the correlations which are easily plotted. Our equal-time correlations can be expanded in powers of the inverse coupling; we show that the two leading order terms agree with the exact results which are known for integer values of the coupling.

One-dimensional impenetrable anyons in thermal equilibrium: IV. Large time and distance asymptotic behavior of the correlation functions

Ovidiu I Pâţu, V. E. Korepin, D. V. Averin

This work presents the derivation of the large time and distance asymptotic behavior of the field-field correlation functions of impenetrable one-dimensional anyons at finite temperature. In the appropriate limits of the statistics parameter, we recover the well-known results for impenetrable bosons and free fermions. In the low-temperature (usually expected to be the "conformal") limit, and for all values of the statistics parameter away from the bosonic point, the leading term in the correlator does not agree with the prediction of the conformal field theory, and is determined by the singularity of the density of the single-particle states at the bottom of the single-particle energy spectrum.

Correlation functions of one-dimensional anyonic fluids

Pasquale Calabrese, Mihail Mintchev

A universal description of correlation functions of one-dimensional anyonic gapless systems in the low-momentum regime is presented. We point out a number of interesting features, including universal oscillating terms with frequency proportional to the statistical parameter and beating effects close to the fermion points. The results are applied to the one-dimensional anyonic Lieb-Liniger model and checked against the exact results in the impenetrable limit.

Correlation functions of one-dimensional Lieb–Liniger anyons

Ovidiu I. Pâţu, V. E. Korepin, D. V. Averin

We have investigated the properties of a model of 1D anyons interacting through a δ-function repulsive potential. The structure of the quasi-periodic boundary conditions for the anyonic field operators and the many-anyon wavefunctions is clarified. The spectrum of the low-lying excitations including the particle–hole excitations is calculated for periodic and twisted boundary conditions. Using the ideas of the conformal field theory we obtain the large-distance asymptotics of the density and field correlation function at the critical temperature T = 0 and at small finite temperatures. Our expression for the field correlation function extends the results in the literature obtained for harmonic quantum anyonic fluids.

One-dimensional impenetrable anyons in thermal equilibrium: I. Anyonic generalization of Lenard's formula

Ovidiu I Pâţu, V. E. Korepin, D. V. Averin

We have obtained an expansion of the reduced density matrices (or, equivalently, correlation functions of the fields) of impenetrable one-dimensional anyons in terms of the reduced density matrices of fermions using the mapping between anyon and fermion wavefunctions. This is the generalization to anyonic statistics of the result obtained by Lenard (1966 J. Math. Phys. 7 1268) for bosons. In the case of impenetrable but otherwise free anyons with statistics parameter κ, the anyonic reduced density matrices in the grand canonical ensemble are expressed as Fredholm minors of the integral operator with the complex statistics-dependent coefficient γ = (1 + e ±iπκ )/π. For κ = 0 we recover the bosonic case of Lenard γ = 2/π. Due to nonconservation of parity, the anyonic field correlators ⟨Ψ† A ( x ')Ψ A ( x )⟩ are different depending on the sign of x ' − x .
