Universal correlations of trapped one-dimensional impenetrable bosons

Abstract

We calculate the asymptotic behaviour of the one body density matrix of one-dimensional impenetrable bosons in finite size geometries. Our approach is based on a modification of the Replica Method from the theory of disordered systems. We obtain explicit expressions for oscillating terms, similar to fermionic Friedel oscillations. These terms are universal and originate from the strong short-range correlations between bosons in one dimension.

Off-diagonal correlations of lattice impenetrable bosons in one dimension

Dimitri M. Gangardt, Gora V. Shlyapnikov

We consider off-diagonal correlation functions of impenetrable bosons on a lattice. By using the Jordan–Wigner transformation the one-body density matrix is represented as a (Toeplitz) determinant of a matrix of fermionic Green functions. Using the replica method we calculate exactly the full long-range asymptotic behaviour of the one-body density matrix. We discuss how subleading oscillating terms, originating from short-range correlations, give rise to interesting features in the momentum distribution.

One particle reduced density matrix of impenetrable bosons in one dimension at zero temperature

H. G. Vaidya, Craig A. Tracy

We compute exactly the one particle reduced density matrix ρ (r) of a system of impenetrable bosons in one dimension at zero temperature. We do this by relating ρ (r) to a certain double scaling limit of the transverse correlation function of the one-dimensional spin 1/2 X–Y model. We study the asymptotic behavior of ρ (r) for large r. This expansion contains oscillatory terms which arise due to the intrinsic quantum mechanical nature of the problem. We use these results to discuss the analytic structure of the momentum density function n (k).

One-body reduced density matrix of trapped impenetrable anyons in one dimension

Giacomo Marmorini, Michele Pepe, Pasquale Calabrese

Abstract We study the one-body reduced density matrix of a system of N one-dimensional impenetrable anyons trapped by a harmonic potential. To this purpose we extend two methods developed to tackle related problems, namely the determinant approach and the replica method. While the former is the basis for exact numerical computations at finite N , the latter has the advantage of providing an analytic asymptotic expansion for large N . We show that the first few terms of such expansion are sufficient to reproduce the numerical results to an excellent accuracy even for relatively small N , thus demonstrating the effectiveness of the replica method.

One-dimensional impenetrable anyons in thermal equilibrium: IV. Large time and distance asymptotic behavior of the correlation functions

Ovidiu I Pâţu, V. E. Korepin, D. V. Averin

This work presents the derivation of the large time and distance asymptotic behavior of the field-field correlation functions of impenetrable one-dimensional anyons at finite temperature. In the appropriate limits of the statistics parameter, we recover the well-known results for impenetrable bosons and free fermions. In the low-temperature (usually expected to be the "conformal") limit, and for all values of the statistics parameter away from the bosonic point, the leading term in the correlator does not agree with the prediction of the conformal field theory, and is determined by the singularity of the density of the single-particle states at the bottom of the single-particle energy spectrum.

Zero temperature correlation functions for the impenetrable fermion gas

Vadim Cheianov, Mikhail B. Zvonarev

We calculate the long time and distance asymptotics of the one-particle correlation functions in the model of impenetrable spin 1/2 fermions in 1 + 1 dimensions. We consider the spin disordered zero temperature regime, which occurs when the limit T → 0 is taken at a positive chemical potential. The asymptotic expressions are found from the asymptotic solution of the matrix Riemann–Hilbert problem related to the determinant representation of the correlation functions.
