Abstract

Building on the Harvey space framework—a five-dimensional complex-time manifold with coordinates (t, τ, x, y, z) whose imaginary-time coordinate τ is compactified onto a circle S¹ = U(1) gauge fibre—we give the electromagnetic sector a single narrative line: Global topological conservation in complex time → Quantum non-locality (after projecting out τ) → Gauge symmetry (localising the phase reference) → Maxwell’s equations We delimit precisely what this geometry can and cannot derive through three core pillars: 1. Quantum Non-Locality, Malus's Law, and the Born Rule In the full five-dimensional manifold, there is no action at a distance: an entangled pair shares one global holomorphic circulation closed on the τ fibre, whose conservation is a local statement. No-Signalling: The "spooky" correlation is merely the residue left on the τ = 0 Minkowski slice, where the symplectic form ω = 2c² dt ∧ dτ vanishes and H_ω = 0 strictly enforces no-signalling. Correlations: Numerically, the spinor double cover reproduces the single-particle Malus's law cos²(θ/2). The literal closure of the τ loop (acting as a forward × backward branch) yields the Born rule |·|² as a direct geometric consequence, recovering the full quantum correlations up to the Tsirelson bound 2√2 (without sliding to the PR-box value of 4). 2. Local Gauge Principle and Action Convergence The local gauge principle is not introduced as a new axiom, but arises naturally from the conjunction of the unobservability of the global U(1) phase and the locality of the per-node τ clock (no global simultaneity), forcing the introduction of a connection A_μ. Consequently, Berry holonomy, the Aharonov–Bohm phase, and the Born/ABL closed-time contour are welded into the holonomies of this single τ-fibre connection. Bypassing the two historical defects of the Kaluza–Klein ansatz, we show that the Maxwell action −(1/4)F² and the gravitational action both descend from a single node-stiffness principle—identified with the Dirichlet (harmonic) energy forced by the holomorphy of the complex-time metric: Gravity (Rate Part): Non-compact sector → |∇ω|² Gauge (Phase Part): Compact S¹ sector → (1 − cos) → (1/4)F² Any periodic, even, analytic node cost naturally yields (1/4)F² in the continuum limit, with the two-derivative truncation being a derived Planck-scale effective-field-theory consequence. 3. The Truth Boundary (Derivable vs. Non-Derivable) Finally, we draw a strict truth boundary: What is derivable: Topology dictates charge quantisation via the winding number π₁(S¹) = ℤ, and the coupling ratio g₂ = g₃ at the fibre scale emerges as a clean group-theoretic result. What is NOT derivable: The framework cannot derive the coupling strength itself; the fine-structure constant α is dictated by the dimensionful fibre modulus and is not derivable (exactly as the numerical value of G is not). This paper reproduces, and does not modify, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, and the gauge structure of the Standard Model; it predicts no observable deviation.

We propose that spacetime is five-dimensional — (x, y, z, t, e) — where the fifth dimension e is circular, periodic, and corresponds to the U(1) fiber in a principal bundle over four-dimensional spacetime. Our four-dimensional experience is a projection of this five-dimensional reality, and every quantum phenomenon is a geometric consequence of the projection. Within this framework, superposition is extension in the e-dimension, entanglement is conservation of the e-coordinate (e₁ + e₂ = C), momentum is helical pitch (∂e/∂x = p/ℏ), spin is helical chirality, and measurement is e-space sampling. The wave function is not an abstract probability amplitude — it is the literal shape of the particle in five-dimensional spacetime. We present three original results. First, the Aharonov-Bohm effect is derived as the holonomy of the e-bundle around a topological defect, establishing the physical reality of the vector potential from geometry. Second, the spin-statistics theorem is derived from a single geometric fact: the winding number of a particle's helix through the circular e-dimension determines both its spin (via the Noether theorem) and its exchange statistics (via parallel transport). Integer winding gives bosons; half-integer gives fermions; fractional winding in two dimensions gives anyons — confirmed experimentally in the fractional quantum Hall effect. Third, the Born rule P(i) = |αᵢ|² is reproduced within the five-dimensional density interpretation and the projection postulate, and the framework reproduces the quantum correlations that violate the CHSH Bell inequality (|S| = 2√2), with the non-locality sourced by the e-conservation constraint through the fifth dimension. The same compact e-circle also resolves the central obstacle to quantum gravity. The five-dimensional Einstein-Hilbert action on the e-bundle reduces via Kaluza-Klein decomposition to four-dimensional gravity coupled to electromagnetism and a scalar field in a single metric. The compactness of the e-circle converts the continuous UV momentum integrals of 4D quantum gravity into discrete Kaluza-Klein mode sums that admit zeta regularization. Under zeta regularization of the KK mode sums, the leading UV divergence vanishes identically at every loop order: S₀^{(L)} = [1 + 2ζ(0)]^L = 0. The subleading terms are Epstein zeta functions evaluated at non-positive integers. For the two-loop R³ counterterm of linearized 5D gravity on M⁴ × S¹ — corresponding to the Goroff-Sagnotti divergence that proved 4D Einstein gravity non-renormalizable in 1986 — the result under zeta regularization is stronger than expected: the R³ coefficient is identically zero at every order in the mass expansion, not just at leading order. The sunset topology produces the Epstein zeta of the Eisenstein lattice, E₂(s; n²+nm+m²) = 6ζ(s)L(s,χ₋₃), which vanishes at every negative integer through complementary trivial zeros of ζ(s) and L(s,χ₋₃). The figure-eight and vertex correction topologies vanish independently through the trivial zeros of the Riemann zeta at even negative integers (forced by the perfect-square structure of KK masses). Ghost contributions, carrying the same Eisenstein quadratic form through KK number conservation, vanish by the same mechanisms. Under zeta regularization of the KK mode sums, linearized 5D gravity on M⁴ × S¹ is perturbatively predictive — established through two loops by explicit computation, and conjectured to all orders by the Epstein-Terras structure — with counterterm coefficients determined from two parameters: G₄ and the e-circle circumference L. The spin structure of the e-circle (bosons periodic, fermions anti-periodic) implies a natural Z₂ orbifold with two fixed-point branes. The visible brane at φ = 0 supports Standard Model matter; the hidden brane at φ = π gravitates normally but couples to no SM force — geometric dark matter. The Casimir energy of bulk fields on the orbifold, with three right-handed neutrinos in the bulk to ensure positive energy, matches the observed dark energy density for a brane separation R ≈ 12 μm and predicts Yukawa-type gravitational deviations at that scale. The same bulk neutrinos give neutrino masses at the meV scale through the bulk seesaw mechanism. Kinetic mixing between the two branes' U(1) gauge fields is predicted at ε ~ 5 × 10⁻⁴ (from the KK tower mediation: α_EM × π²/6 × exp(−π)), testable by LDMX and LHCb Run 3. A conjectured Z₃ orbifold structure gives three SM generations, with conjectured exponential mass hierarchies from a warp factor k ≈ 2. A speculative identification of the Planck-scale electromagnetic coupling with the inverse configuration torus area, 1/α(M_P) = 4π², combined with three generations of SM running, gives 1/α(0) ≈ 137. The e-circle, Z₆-orbifolded and warped, provides a geometric account of twenty-two phenomena at three levels of rigor. Eight are derived from the basic e-circle (M⁴ × S¹): quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, gravity, the spin-statistics theorem, perturbative UV finiteness, the hydrogen spectrum, black hole entropy, and the CPT theorem. Eight more follow from the Z₂ orbifold extension: dark energy (Casimir energy), dark matter (hidden-brane matter), neutrino masses (bulk seesaw), kinetic mixing with a dark photon (ε ~ 5 × 10⁻⁴), the strong CP problem (topological resolution: π₄(SU(3)) = 0 in 5D), the Hubble tension (H₀ ≈ 68.7–69.5 km/s/Mpc from hidden-brane dark radiation; in 3–4σ tension with ACT DR6 N_eff = 2.86 ± 0.13), the Casimir effect, and baryon asymmetry (derived in Paper 2 via bulk leptogenesis). Six are conjectured: the dark energy equation of state (thawing dilaton, derived quantitatively in Paper 2), the fine structure constant α ≈ 1/137 (from the configuration torus area), α stability, three fermion generations (Z₃ orbifold), the fermion mass hierarchy (warp factor k ≈ 2), and normal neutrino mass ordering (from Z₃ geometry, testable by JUNO). Seven testable predictions follow: two are already consistent with current data (observed α stability, and the dark energy equation of state w ≈ −1 — though DESI DR2 shows 4.2σ tension with static w = −1, resolvable via thawing dilaton quintessence). The naive dilaton prediction (ΔN_eff ≈ 0.57) appeared in tension with combined ACT+SPT+Planck measurements (N_eff = 2.81 ± 0.18), but this tension is resolved by intra-tower KK neutrino decays (Gonzalo et al. 2024), reducing the effective ΔN_eff to ~0.05 and giving N_eff ≈ 3.09, consistent with all CMB data. The remaining four — short-range gravitational deviations at ~12 μm, the dark photon signal at ε ~ 5 × 10⁻⁴, neutrino masses and normal mass ordering (testable by JUNO within 6 years), and mirror dark matter — are within reach of experiments in the next 3–10 years. The orbifold extensions are speculative but quantitative, with specific falsifiable predictions. What is established is a geometric framework in which the same compact circle that makes quantum mechanics necessary also makes perturbative quantum gravity finite. A companion computation (Paper 2) applies the CAMB Boltzmann solver to the framework's cosmological sector (to appear separately) with parameters derived entirely from the e-circle geometry — fitting zero parameters to CMB data. The central result is a scaling law from bulk leptogenesis on the Z₂ orbifold: the three bulk right-handed neutrinos deposit baryon asymmetries on both branes, but the hidden brane is colder (ξ = T_hidden/T_visible). The entropy asymmetry (1/ξ³) and washout suppression (1/ξ²) combine to give: Ω_DM / Ω_b = 1/ξ² Inverting against the observed ratio 5.36 determines ξ = 0.432 at leading order; the washout correction shifts this to ξ ≈ 0.49, converging with the independently θ*-matched value ξ = 0.47. Three scenarios bracket the prediction. The CAMB-computed results: t₀ = 13.47–13.60 Gyr, H₀ = 68.7–69.5 km/s/Mpc, S8 = 0.753–0.785 (resolving the 4σ weak lensing tension without tuning), r_d = 145.8–148.0 Mpc, and the CMB angular scale θ* matched to within 0.5–6.6 arcseconds of Planck's measurement. The thawing dilaton (w₀ = −0.85, w_a = −0.23) drives the expansion history H(z) to peak 4–6% above ΛCDM at z ~ 0.3–0.7 — a specific fingerprint testable by DESI DR3 at 8σ. The cosmic coincidence Ω_DM/Ω_b ≈ 5 is not a coincidence: it is 1/ξ², where ξ is fixed by geometry and baryogenesis. All three scenarios predict N_eff = 3.31–3.39, in 3–4σ tension with ACT DR6 (N_eff = 2.86 ± 0.13) — the framework's primary open issue, definitively resolved by CMB-S4 (σ(N_eff) ≈ 0.03).

Quantum Mechanics as the Boundary Algebra of a Non-Invertible Projection

Pasquale Camelia

This paper argues that quantum mechanics is not a separate postulate system to be reconciled with spacetime physics. It is the boundary algebra of a non-invertible projection: the algebraic structure that a globally coherent bulk field is forced to produce when it becomes observable. The bulk field is a Majorana spinor, Ξ = CΞ̄, on M^5 = R^4 × S^1(τ), governed by a single conservation law. The projection Π onto the observable boundary is not an external measurement device added afterward: it is the form the field must take in order to admit an observable image at all. What survives Π defines the observable sector; what enters ker Π is lost structurally, not thermodynamically. From this single mechanism, four boundary structures emerge: the Hilbert space of quantum mechanics, physical time, matter stability, and the Born rule. These are four boundary readings of one conservation law, K_τ = ξη = α^−1, resolved by the same tangential dynamics on the invariant surface Σ. Observable states are equivalence classes [Ξ] = Ξ + ker Π. The Born rule is the canonical quadratic probability measure induced by the projection geometry. Measurement irreversibility is the non-injectivity of Π, with non-vanishing protected by the transcendence of π. Physical time is not assumed in advance: it emerges as the output of chiral projection through a conformal map from the compact cyclic fibre to the irreversible real line. The Wheeler–DeWitt equation is not a paradox but the correct timeless description of the bulk. Spacetime emerges after quantum mechanics, not before it. The fine-structure constant is not a free parameter. It is the unique observable residue forced by the self-coherent projection structure. The double-slit interference pattern, the Born rule, and measurement irreversibility are derived as structural corollaries of this paper in the companion work doi:10.5281/zenodo.19654630

Complex Spacetime Geometry and the Geometric Origin of the Aharonov-Bohm Effect

Bhushan Bhoja Poojary

The Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect fundamentally demonstrates that electromagnetic potentials, rather than strictly classical fields, play a foundational, observable role in quantum mechanics. While standard quantum theory successfully accommodates this phenomenon via the axiomatic insertion of the minimal coupling principle, a purely geometric interpretation of the gauge potential has historically remained elusive. Building on a previously established complex spacetime framework—where conventional spacetime coordinates are extended into real and imaginary domains—this paper proposes a novel, localized geometric origin for the AB effect. We postulate that the imaginary spatial derivative of the complex wavefunction is physically equivalent to the electromagnetic gauge potential, thereby deriving the minimal coupling prescription directly from spacetime geometry rather than treating it as an independent axiom. Under this framework, the topological phase shift experienced by a charged particle in a field-free region arises naturally from its local evolution through the imaginary dimensions of complex spacetime. Furthermore, by treating the gauge potential as an affine connection or cross-metric term that links real and imaginary dimensions, we successfully redefine the complex metric tensor. This allows the classical electromagnetic field tensor to emerge naturally as the Riemann curvature of the complexified space. This approach provides a unified geometric foundation for both gauge potentials and quantum interference phenomena, resolving previous field-tensor metric limitations while offering a promising mathematical framework for future integrations into relativistic quantum mechanics and cosmic geometry.

Geometry First: Quantum Mechanics, Gravity, and the Origin of the Standard Model from a Single Conservation Law

Jack Menendez

Important status notice: This version has been superseded by v2.0. Subsequent work shows that the single-domain three-diagonal construction used here produces an experimentally excluded common-mode photon-speed anisotropy. Readers should consult the revised version and 10.5281/zenodo.21464971. We propose that conservation of probability — the single axiom A=1 — is sufficient to derive the principal results of quantum mechanics without additional postulates. On a bipartite three-dimensional causal lattice T³_diamond, each particle is represented as a causal session: an independent phase oscillator that propagates amplitude across the lattice subject to |ψ_R|² + |ψ_L|² = 1 at every tick. No Hamiltonian and no measurement postulate are assumed; a Hilbert-space structure with unitary evolution emerges from the U(1) oscillator and the per-session amplitude constraint rather than being postulated a priori. From this single constraint, the paper derives: (i) the Dirac equation in the continuum limit a→0, with the gamma matrices identified as geometric encodings of the bipartite RGB/CMY sublattice geometry; (ii) wave-particle duality and the Born rule as consequences of amplitude redistribution under A=1, with Gleason's theorem securing the |ψ|² uniqueness from the framework's emergent Hilbert space; (iii) quantization of atomic orbitals as Arnold tongue attractors of the two-body phase dynamics, recovering the hydrogen Bohr radius to four significant figures (k_min = 0.0970 vs k_Bohr = 0.0971) without fitting; (iv) gravity as a clock-density gradient rather than spacetime curvature — a refraction of causal paths through regions of higher session density, reproducing the 1/r² force law with an explicit weak-field metric tensor g_μν as a functional of the clock-density field; (v) photon emission as a structural consequence of A=1: the Coulomb interaction is a probability source that a single session cannot accommodate, mandating creation of a new photon session at orbit lock-in; (vi) the structural form of the induced gauge action (Sakharov / Zeldovich), whose leading-order term has the Maxwell form on O_h-averaged observables, with a closed-form gauge-sector birefringence sharing the same optical axis (1,1,−1) as the kinematic-sector prediction. Energy and momentum conservation are not independent inputs — they are consequences of A=1 applied to closed session sets. The numerically tractable results are verified or partially verified by a suite of more than fifteen experiments with no free parameters beyond the Planck-scale calibration of the lattice spacing; an audit table records the status of every claim. The paper conjectures that the Standard Model gauge group SU(3) × SU(2) × U(1), together with Lorentz SO(3,1), is the automorphism group of the framework's extended per-site amplitude — a precise 18-dimensional Lie-algebra equality. The existing framework is shown to carry SO(3,1) × U(1) (dim 7) on the per-site (ψ_R, ψ_L) amplitude; the remaining factors require structural extensions (per-site C² isospin and C³ colour indices) that are the subject of a companion paper. Six computational scaffolding scripts establish the conjecture's components. This is Paper I of the A=1 Discrete Causal Lattice series. Companion papers in preparation address the Standard Model gauge derivation, the Farey-sequence mass spectrum (and its Veneziano-amplitude limiting case), plasma and gradient-ionization phenomenology, the proton-interior structure, quantum measurement theory, and a Hilbert-6th-style combinatorial foundation for continuum physics. What changed in v1.0 (since v0.98-RC): * Three new audit-table rows: long-horizon escape mechanism (PART), lock-in resonance grid-independence across {65, 81, 97, 113}³ grids (PART), and the Standard Model gauge-group conjecture as a precise 18-dimensional Lie-algebra equality (STUB).* A Gleason-uniqueness subsubsection in the Born-rule discussion, addressing the necessity question for the |ψ|² measure.* An explicit metric-tensor formula in the gravity section, identifying g_μν as a functional of ρ_clock in the weak-field limit.* Refined automorphism conjecture with explicit decomposition into established and structural-extension factors.* New Acknowledgments section. A Unified Logical Foundation for Gauge Theory, Quantum Mechanics, and General Relativity from Reference Frame Self-Consistency

Zhengming Tang

The companion paper (Tang, 2026) showed that the Self-Consistent Reference Frame Principle (RCC), applied to local Hilbert-space fibres, yields the Born rule, the Yang--Mills action, and the Einstein--Hilbert action as consequences of reference-frame self-consistency and causality. (In that derivation, "quantum foundations" refers to the Born rule and the emergence of Hilbert-space structure; unitary dynamics, the tensor-product rule for composite systems, and the measurement postulate lie outside its scope.) The present paper removes the linearity assumption. It reformulates RCC on nonlinear state manifolds---smooth manifolds without a preferred linear or metric structure, on which symmetry groups act by diffeomorphisms. The core object is the nonlinear comparator, a G-equivariant diffeomorphism between fibres that translates reference frames. Each result of the linear paper---the Born-rule probability formula, the gauge connection, the gravitational metric, and the phase unity identity---is reconstructed in this more general setting and reduces to its linear counterpart precisely when the state manifold carries a Kähler structure, the geometric condition under which P=|⟨φ|ψ⟩|² is recovered. (Unitary dynamics, the tensor-product rule, the observable algebra, and the measurement postulate remain external inputs.) The nonlinear framework reveals structures inaccessible in the linear case: the Born rule generalises to a family of G-invariant transition functions; gauge theory arises as a special case of fibre-bundle geometry with a nonlinear G-action; nonlinear comparator corrections---torsion and anholonomy effects from the curvature of the fibre---generate additional SMEFT operators, most notably O₃B with C₃B≠0; and the gravitational sector receives subleading corrections from fibre-valued geometric invariants. The nonlinear framework yields a strictly larger set of falsifiable predictions: the linear results are recovered in the Kähler limit, while the deviations constitute a new experimental window into the geometry of state space.

What a 5D geometry can, and cannot, derive of quantum mechanics

Noel COPINET

We examine the claim, made in the corpus of the 5D Solitonic Theory (TS5D), to derivequantum mechanics the Schrödinger equation, the Born rule, spin, entanglement, andthe Tsirelson bound 2√2 from a deterministic geometric substrate whose compact fthdimension e = S1/Z6 represents energy. We separate two levels of structure: (a) the discretequantum numbers (KaluzaKlein tower, topological sectors, spin-statistics sign), which thediscrete/abelian geometry provides; and (b) the Hilbert-space structure (complex superposition,SU(2) qubit, entanglement, 2√2), which it does not provide without further input. We establish, through four independent and complete demonstrations (local CHSH bound;Tsirelson bound; geometric quantization of S2; two-soliton correlation), that: (i) the qubit isrealizable without any new eld, as a topological sector of a KaluzaKlein monopole (Hopfbration, c1 = 1), but that no internal principle of TS5D forces it; (ii) the value 2√2 isnot derivable from a deterministic local substrate, because Bell's theorem is a theorem, nota circumventable empirical constraint. The defensible form of TS5D is a geometrized non-local Bohm: a deterministic, non-local theory whose 4D projection is quantum mechanics, the quantum content entering at two named, minimal points. The fth dimension e givesnon-locality a deterministic geometric mechanism, without rendering it local.Nature of the text. This is a foundational / clarication paper: it establishes the minimalconditions under which a deterministic 5D geometry can reproduce quantum mechanics, andthe theorem-level obstacles (Bell, Tsirelson, qubit topology, chirality, Born rule) that boundthem. It claims no new complete derivation.
