Exclusion Theorems from Finite Accessibility - Seven Rigorous No-Go Results

Abstract

Papers I–III derived specific physical structures from three operational axioms: an action gap, finite accessibility, and intersubjective stability. This paper inverts the question: what structures are forbidden? Seven exclusion theorems are proved, showing that large classes of alternative physics are inadmissible under the operational axioms. Each theorem includes explicit assumptions and rigorous mathematical proof. The excluded structures are: 1. **Arbitrarily precise extended synchronisation** — no protocol can certify synchronisation across a domain exceeding the coherence radius R_coh 2. **Higher-than-second-order local dynamics** — via Ostrogradsky instability and certification cost arguments 3. **Non-Born probability assignments** — via the Cauchy functional equation; the Born rule is the unique continuous, non-contextual invariant measure 4. **Non-three-dimensional geometry** — via flux invariance; only d = 3 permits radius-independent total distinguishability 5. **Non-quartic high-frequency dispersion** — via complex analysis of the EFT derivative expansion 6. **Stable relativistic gravitationally-coupled matter** above the accessibility ceiling 7. **Protocol-dependent physical constants** — universality is forced by intersubjective stability The exclusions collectively define an admissibility corridor: the narrow set of physical structures compatible with bounded intersubjective certification. The paper shows that most logically possible alternatives violate the axioms, and that observed physics lies on structural boundaries of the corridor. **This paper is part of the Finite Accessibility series, which reconstructs gravitational geometry, quantum dynamics, gauge structure, cosmological perturbation theory, and the dark sector from a single operational primitive: a finite certification ceiling ω* governing the maximum rate at which physical relations can be maintained across extended domains.** **Introductory papers** - Geometric Limits to Coherent Timekeeping in Extended Reference Frames — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18824556 - Accessibility Selection Law (ASL) — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18824649 - Phase Boundary Gravity — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18824707 **Pillars (numbered I–IV)** - Paper I: Deriving Gravitational Geometry and Schrödinger Dynamics from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18601600 - Paper II: Deriving Inertia, Motion, and Wave Propagation from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18625174 - Paper III: Accessible State Spaces, Record Stability, and the Emergence of Quantum Statistics — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18625192 - Paper IV: Frame Dissolution, the Certification Ceiling, and Observable Deformations — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654458 **Extension papers** - Dark Matter from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654433 - Dark Energy from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654523 - No-Go Theorems and the Admissibility Corridor — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654493 - Gauge Structure from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18928152 - Perturbation Theory from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18928213 **Experimental paper** - Experimental Probes of Finite Accessibility: GW Dispersion and Vacuum Path Independence — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18931126 **Keywords:** no-go theorems, admissibility corridor, finite accessibility, exclusion theorems, Born rule uniqueness, spatial dimensionality, Ostrogradsky instability, higher-order dynamics, extended synchronisation, intersubjective stability, certification cost, dispersion constraints, protocol invariance, operational axioms, action gap, quantum gravity constraints

Deriving Inertia, Motion, and Wave Propagation from Finite Accessibility

Paul Cooney

Paper I derived gravitational geometry and Schrödinger dynamics from finite accessibility in stationary configurations. This work extends the same operational constraints to nonstationary situations, completing the derivation of classical and relativistic dynamics. The action gap ℏ* forces the minimal certifiable state to be (x, ẋ), yielding second-order dynamics as a structural necessity rather than an empirical postulate. Fisher additivity forces the linear response F = ma, and the equivalence principle emerges as a consequence: inertial and gravitational mass are identical because both are projections of the same local QFI density. The Lagrangian and action principle are not assumed; they arise as the unique intersubjectively stable summary of nonstationary coordination demand. In the relativistic regime, geodesic motion follows from the same certification budget that produced the Schwarzschild exterior: a trajectory that deviates from a geodesic demands excess coordination overhead, and the unique certification-cost minimizer is the geodesic. Multi-body dynamics inherit linearity from Fisher additivity, and the field limit is the unique admissible extension consistent with local accessibility and shell composition. Finite update bandwidth ω* introduces inference inertia in wave propagation, producing a distinctive ω^(+2) dispersion signature in gravitational waves — higher frequencies arrive later. The dispersion relation is ω_k² = q²(1 + q²/ω*²) This distinguishes the framework from massive graviton theories (ω^(−2)) and Lorentz violation (ω^(+1)). The connection to frame dissolution (Paper IV) closes the derivation chain: the certification ceiling ω* is the same parameter that governs frame coherence and dispersion. **This paper is part of the Finite Accessibility series, which reconstructs gravitational geometry, quantum dynamics, gauge structure, cosmological perturbation theory, and the dark sector from a single operational primitive: a finite certification ceiling ω* governing the maximum rate at which physical relations can be maintained across extended domains.** **Introductory papers** - Geometric Limits to Coherent Timekeeping in Extended Reference Frames — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18824556 - Accessibility Selection Law (ASL) — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18824649 - Phase Boundary Gravity — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18824707 **Pillars (numbered I–IV)** - Paper I: Deriving Gravitational Geometry and Schrödinger Dynamics from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18601600 - Paper II: Deriving Inertia, Motion, and Wave Propagation from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18625174 - Paper III: Accessible State Spaces, Record Stability, and the Emergence of Quantum Statistics — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18625192 - Paper IV: Frame Dissolution, the Certification Ceiling, and Observable Deformations — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654458 **Extension papers** - Dark Matter from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654433 - Dark Energy from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654523 - No-Go Theorems and the Admissibility Corridor — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654493 - Gauge Structure from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18928152 - Perturbation Theory from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18928213 **Experimental paper** - Experimental Probes of Finite Accessibility: GW Dispersion and Vacuum Path Independence — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18931126 **Keywords:** inertia derivation, equations of motion, finite accessibility, action gap, Fisher additivity, equivalence principle, geodesic motion, second-order dynamics, Lagrangian emergence, wave propagation, gravitational wave dispersion, omega plus two dispersion, certification ceiling, operational axioms, quantum Fisher information, Lorentz violation

Quantum Records, Definite Outcomes, and the Born Rule from Finite Accessibility - The Measurement Completion of the Operational Framework

Paul Cooney

Papers I and II derived gravitational geometry and second-order dynamics from finite accessibility without invoking measurement, observation protocols, or collapse as primitive notions. This paper extends the operational program to the measurement sector, deriving the structure of record formation and probabilistic weights from the same finite accessibility and compositional constraints. Finite accessibility restricts admissible operations on a subsystem to a proper operator subalgebra. Because bounded certification excludes operators requiring nonlocal coordination or arbitrarily fine phase resolution, the accessible algebra is strictly smaller than the full operator algebra. When a system becomes correlated with orthogonal environment sectors, off-diagonal operators between those sectors fall outside the accessible algebra. The reduced state is therefore indistinguishable, under all admissible operations, from its diagonal ensemble. Definiteness emerges as an algebraic consequence of sector restriction, not as a collapse postulate. The weights of these sectors are fixed uniquely by compositional consistency. Phase invariance, multiplicativity under independent refinement, and stability under record coarse-graining constrain any admissible assignment of sector weights to satisfy a functional equation whose only continuous, non-contextual solution is quadratic in amplitude. The Born rule therefore arises as the unique invariant measure compatible with finite accessibility. Irreversibility follows from action scaling: reversal requires operators outside the admissible tensor algebra and incurs action cost proportional to the number of correlated subsystems. Since admissible operations are bounded by the action gap, macroscopic record reversal is excluded. Measurement introduces no new physical primitives beyond finite accessibility, locality, and compositional stability. Record formation, classical definiteness, and Born probabilities are structural consequences of algebraic restriction under finite accessibility. **This paper is part of the Finite Accessibility series, which reconstructs gravitational geometry, quantum dynamics, gauge structure, cosmological perturbation theory, and the dark sector from a single operational primitive: a finite certification ceiling ω* governing the maximum rate at which physical relations can be maintained across extended domains.** **Introductory papers** - Geometric Limits to Coherent Timekeeping in Extended Reference Frames — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18824556 - Accessibility Selection Law (ASL) — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18824649 - Phase Boundary Gravity — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18824707 **Pillars (numbered I–IV)** - Paper I: Deriving Gravitational Geometry and Schrödinger Dynamics from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18601600 - Paper II: Deriving Inertia, Motion, and Wave Propagation from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18625174 - Paper III: Accessible State Spaces, Record Stability, and the Emergence of Quantum Statistics — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18625192 - Paper IV: Frame Dissolution, the Certification Ceiling, and Observable Deformations — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654458 **Extension papers** - Dark Matter from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654433 - Dark Energy from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654523 - No-Go Theorems and the Admissibility Corridor — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654493 - Gauge Structure from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18928152 - Perturbation Theory from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18928213 **Experimental paper** - Experimental Probes of Finite Accessibility: GW Dispersion and Vacuum Path Independence — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18931126 **Keywords:** Born rule derivation, measurement problem, quantum statistics, finite accessibility, operator subalgebra, record formation, definiteness emergence, wave function collapse, compositional consistency, accessible state spaces, action gap, irreversibility, sector restriction, quantum foundations, algebraic quantum mechanics, decoherence

Part I A Structural Closure of Physical Description

Ethan Brooke

This paper introduces a constraint-first framework for physical law based on a single structural requirement: that distinctions and correlations be enforceable without contradiction under finite capacity. Rather than proposing new dynamics, entities, or microscopic mechanisms, the work reframes foundational questions in physics by asking a prior question—under what conditions is physical description itself possible? Central to the framework is the recognition that correlation enforcement cannot be unlimited. From this finiteness follows a notion of admissibility, separating correlation structures that can be jointly realized from those that are structurally incoherent, independent of probability or dynamics. Geometry, time, entropy, and global state descriptions are treated not as universal primitives, but as regime-dependent representations that emerge when enforcement constraints can be smoothly distributed—and fail when they cannot. Within this perspective, long-standing foundational puzzles—such as the arrow of time, entropy bounds, horizon paradoxes, and the breakdown of global descriptions—are reinterpreted as signals of regime mismatch rather than failures of physical law. Apparent paradoxes arise when descriptive tools are extrapolated beyond the regimes in which their enforcement is possible. The paper is deliberately pre-dynamical. It does not modify quantum mechanics or general relativity, nor does it derive specific equations or predictions. Its contribution is structural: to articulate the minimal conditions that any coherent physical description must satisfy, and to clarify why familiar physical structures appear where they do, persist where they can, and fail where they must. This work serves as the conceptual foundation for a companion technical paper that formalizes admissibility and finite correlation capacity as a calculus. Together, the papers aim to delineate the boundary between meaningful physical description and questions that cannot be consistently posed. About the series. Part II A Calculus of Admissible Correlation

Ethan Brooke

Description This paper develops a formal calculus of admissible correlation, providing the technical backbone for a constraint-first approach to physical description. Building on a conceptual framework in which enforceability and finite correlation capacity are taken as primitive structural requirements, the present work makes these notions explicit, operational, and compositional. Correlations are treated as primitive relational constraints enforced across interfaces endowed with finite capacity. Admissibility is defined as joint enforceability under these capacity limits and is shown to be inherently non-closed under composition. Correlation capacity is formalized as a finite, interface-localized resource whose saturation and redistribution determine which correlation sets can coherently exist. This yields a precise, pre-dynamical criterion for physical feasibility that precedes probability, stability, and dynamical law. Within this calculus, regime transitions arise when admissible correlation sets change due to capacity reallocation rather than dynamical evolution. The ordered loss of descriptive structures—global states, subsystem factorization, metric geometry, and time itself—is characterized as a consequence of finite enforceability rather than as a breakdown of physical law. Geometry emerges as an efficient representation of coordination cost where capacity gradients are smooth, while entropy is identified with interface capacity governing record formation and exclusion. The calculus introduces no new dynamics, modifies no existing physical theories, and commits to no microscopic ontology. Its role is structural: to delineate the kinematic envelope within which any coherent physical dynamics must operate. Quantum mechanics and general relativity are shown to function as admissibility-preserving frameworks within the regimes where their descriptive assumptions remain enforceable. This work is intended to stand alone as a technical contribution while serving, together with its companion foundational paper, to clarify the limits of physical description and the conditions under which familiar physical structures emerge, persist, and fail. Principal of Admissible Correlation

Ethan Brooke

Physical law is usually formulated as a set of dynamical rules acting on states within a fixed space of possibilities. This work argues that a more primitive constraint precedes dynamics: the restriction on which correlations and distinctions may meaningfully exist at all. The paper introduces the Admissibility–Entropy Structure (AES), a pre-geometric framework that cleanly separates admissibility (what correlations are possible) from entropy (finite correlation capacity) and probability (conditional statistical description). Within AES, entropy measures correlation capacity rather than likelihood, probability is defined only where multiple admissible alternatives coexist, and realizable correlation between regions is bounded by the minimal separating interface. Spacetime geometry, locality, and causal structure are shown to arise as effective representations of these constraints, rather than as fundamental ingredients. No new dynamics, entities, or probabilistic postulates are introduced. The framework yields sharp and non-negotiable discriminators: probability without entropy, geometry without capacity, and unlimited correlation are forbidden in principle. By isolating the invariant constraints that underwrite meaningful physical description, this work provides a minimal foundation for thermodynamics, quantum theory, and spacetime structure, clarifying their conceptual order without modifying established physical laws. Compatibility of Accessibility and Purification: Existence and No-Go Results

Paul Cooney

Arc V — Gravity & Quantum TheoryPaper 9 Title Compatibility of Accessibility and Purification:Existence and No-Go Results Zenodo DOI 10.5281/zenodo.18234636 Description This paper examines the internal consistency of the finite-accessibility framework when augmented by the purification principle, addressing a critical foundational question: under what conditions can accessibility limitations and purification coexist without contradiction? Building on the axiomatic reconstruction of quantum theory in Paper V.7, the analysis treats purification and accessibility as independent structural constraints and studies their joint realizability. The paper proves several existence results demonstrating that nontrivial operational theories satisfying both principles do exist, while also establishing sharp no-go theorems that rule out broad classes of seemingly plausible models. In particular, the work shows that purification cannot be imposed arbitrarily on accessibility-limited theories. Certain accessibility profiles are incompatible with global purification, leading to unavoidable irreversibility or breakdown of compositional structure. Conversely, when compatibility conditions are satisfied, purification enforces strong constraints on allowable dynamics, correlations, and system composition. These results clarify the logical status of purification within the program: it is neither optional nor universally admissible, but a structurally selective principle that dramatically narrows the space of consistent theories. The paper therefore functions as a consistency checkpoint for the Gravity & Quantum Theory arc, delineating exactly where the program can and cannot be extended. Keywords finite accessibility; purification; no-go theorems; operational quantum theory; axiomatic consistency; irreversibility Notes Arc V — Gravity & Quantum Theory (consistency and constraints) Sharp existence and no-go results for accessibility–purification coexistence Clarifies when quantum reconstruction is structurally possible Constrains admissible accessibility profiles and dynamics Logical bridge between axiomatic reconstruction and non-geometric quantum theory

Arbitrarily precise extended synchronisation — no protocol can certify synchronisation across a domain exceeding the coherence radius R_coh 2. Higher-than-second-order local dynamics — via Ostrogradsky instability and certification cost arguments 3. Non-Born probability assignments — via the Cauchy functional equation; the Born rule is the unique continuous, non-contextual invariant measure 4. Non-three-dimensional geometry — via flux invariance; only d = 3 permits radius-independent total distinguishability 5. Non-quartic high-frequency dispersion — via complex analysis of the EFT derivative expansion 6. Stable relativistic gravitationally-coupled matter above the accessibility ceiling 7. Protocol-dependent physical constants — universality is forced by intersubjective stability The exclusions collectively define an admissibility corridor: the narrow set of physical structures compatible with bounded intersubjective certification. The paper shows that most logically possible alternatives violate the axioms, and that observed physics lies on structural boundaries of the corridor.
About the series. Admissibility Physics derives the Standard Model gauge group, fermion content, quantum formalism, Lorentzian spacetime, the Einstein field equations, the cosmological constant, and the neutrino, strong-CP, and dark sectors from a single assumption — that enforcement is finite at every causally connected region — with zero free parameters. The core derivation runs Papers 0–11; the extension papers carry the individual sectors. Each paper's main text and Technical Supplement is deposited separately, and every quantitative claim traces to a named, executable check in the public theorem bank (over 3,800 bank-registered theorems across roughly 450 modules, 48 quantitative predictions).
