Abstract

In this paper, we investigate spin entanglement dynamics in the tree-level QED scattering processes [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]. By exploiting the complete complementarity relations, we highlight the interplay among entanglement, predictability and visibility mediated by the fundamental interaction, for different energy regimes.

We present recent results on the generation and distribution of entanglement in Quantum Electro-dynamics scattering processes. We analyze both the mechanisms responsible for the entanglement behavior in fundamental interactions and the role of complete complementarity relations in characterizing the local and non-local properties of these quantum processes, highlighting their intricate interplay.

Complete complementarity relations in tree level QED processes

Massimo Blasone A, Silvio De Siena, Gaetano Lambiase +2 more

We exploit the complete complementarity relations (CCR) to fully characterize various aspects of quantumness in quantum electrodynamics (QED) scattering processes at tree level. As a paradigmatic example, we consider Bhabha scattering in two different configurations: in the first case, the initial state is factorized in the spin and we study the generation of entanglement due to the scattering. Then we consider the most general case in which the initial state can be entangled: we find that the scattering generates and distributes quantum information in a nontrivial way among the spin degrees of freedom of the particles, with CCR relations being preserved. An important outcome of our analysis is that maximal entanglement is conserved in the scattering process involving only fermions as input and output states, with a more complex situation if photons are present.

Local and Nonlocal Quantum Correlations in QED Scattering Processes

Massimo Blasone A, Silvio De Siena, Gaetano Lambiase +2 more

Abstract We summarize recent findings on the generation and distribution of entanglement in Quantum Electrodynamics (QED) scattering processes. We explore both the generation of entanglement in fundamental QED interactions and the role of complete complementarity relations (CCR) in characterizing the local and nonlocal properties of these quantum processes, and in accounting for their intertwining.

Entanglement generation in QED scattering processes

Marco Rigobello, Simone Notarnicola, Giuseppe Magnifico +1 more

We study real-time meson-meson scattering processes in $(1+1)$-dimensional QED by means of Tensor Networks. We prepare initial meson wave packets with given momentum and position, starting from the free fermions model and extending it to the interaction theory. Then, we compute the dynamics of two initially separated colliding mesons, observing a rich phenomenology as the interaction strength and the initial states are varied in the weak and intermediate coupling regimes. Finally, we measure the scattering amplitudes for the process in terms of the initial and final momenta and the entanglement produced by the collision. We remarkably find two different regimes for the asymptotic entanglement between the two mesons: it is perturbatively small for weak couplings, while, in the intermediate regime, it turns out to reach a non-zero value at long times after the scattering.

Entanglement distribution in Bhabha scattering with an entangled spectator particle

Massimo Blasone A, Gaetano Lambiase, Bruno Micciola

We analyze how entanglement is generated and distributed in a Bhabha scattering process $({e}^{\ensuremath{-}}{e}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}{e}^{+})$ at tree level. In our setup an electron $A$ scatters with a positron $B$, which is initially entangled with another electron $C$ (spectator), that does not participate directly to the process. We find that the QED scattering generates and distributes entanglement in a nontrivial way among the three particles; the correlations in the output channels $AB$, $AC$, and $BC$ are studied in detail as functions of the scattering parameters and of the initial entanglement weight. Although derived in a specific case, our results exhibit some general features of other similar QED scattering processes, for which the extension of the present analysis is straightforward.

Entanglement distribution in Bhabha scattering with entangled spectator particle

We analyze how entanglement is generated and distributed in a Bhabha scattering process $(e^-e^+\rightarrow e^-e^+)$ at tree level. In our setup an electron $A$ scatters with a positron $B$, which is initially entangled with another electron $C$ (spectator), that does not participate directly to the process. We find that the QED scattering generates and distributes entanglement in a non-trivial way among the three particles: the correlations in the output channels $AB$, $AC$ and $BC$ are studied in detail as functions of the scattering parameters and of the initial entanglement weight.
