Abstract

Abstract In this manuscript, Intensity interrogation of sensitivity of the surface plasmon polariton waves (SPPs) is coherently manipulated, at the interface of four‐level dielectric medium and silver metal using prism geometry. Sensitivity of SPPs with respect to refractive index is written as . A useful control in sensitivity is reported with probe and control fields detuning, Rabi frequency and decay rate. Sensitivity is a function of probe field detuning and control field Rabi frequency. The maximum sensitivity is reported to with probe field detuning and control field Rabi frequency, while minimum sensitivity is investigated to with control field phase and control field Rabi frequency. The sensitivity in this manuscript shows useful application in biosensor and photovoltaic devices.

Manipulation of sensitivity of the surface plasmon polariton waves at the interface of high magneto-optical medium and silver metal using angular interrogation

Qaisar Khan, Bakht Amin Bacha, Iftikhar Ahmad +4 more

In this manuscript, sensitivity of the surface plasmon polariton waves (SPPs) using angular interrogation is coherently manipulated at the interface of four level high magneto-optical medium and silver metal using prism geometry. The control and probe fields detuning, Rabi frequency and decay rate manipulated significantly the angular interrogation of sensitivity of the surface plasmon polariton waves. The permittivity ϵd and permeability μd of the high magneto-optical medium play an important role in the manipulation of the sensitivity. The sensitivity is a function of control field detuning. The maximum sensitivity is reported to 800 deg/RIU with control field detuning. The minimum sensitivity is investigated to 6 deg/RIU with probe field detuning and Rabi frequency of control field. The reported results have useful applications in data storage and chemical sensing technologies.

Coherent control of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT)-based surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) using system parameters

Rakiba Rahaman, Samim Akhtar, Jayanta K. Saha +1 more

Abstract We present a comprehensive theoretical study on the controlling of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) excitation at the metal–dielectric (silver-Rb atoms) interface using electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT). The results demonstrate that the excitation of SPPs can efficiently be controlled by utilizing the system parameters, e . g . atomic density, pump Rabi frequency and metal thickness. A significant probe field enhancement is achieved by adjusting the pump Rabi frequency and atomic number density, and it can be further optimized by precise tuning of the metal thickness. The resonance angle as well as reflection and transmission of the probe field are found to be highly sensitive to the probe frequency detuning. A notable displacement of the probe transmission peak position is also observed with the increasing pump Rabi frequency. These findings provide tunable control of SPPs using an EIT medium, which may find potential applications in the domains of quantum plasmonic sensor-based devices and quantum communication.

Phase and velocity sensitivity of surface plasmon polaritons at the interface of atomic and nano-composites media

Gohar Zeb Khan, Imrana Ashraf, Arif Ullah +1 more

Abstract The phase and velocity sensitivity is calculated at the interface of three level atomic medium and a Silver Silica (AgSiO 2 ) nano-composites material by surface plasmon polaritons waves. A large kink in the real part of dispersion relation of SPPs is measured in the large interaction zone, due to which the group velocity and delay/advance times of SPPs are enhanced. A group velocity of v g = ±1 × 10 9 m s −1 is measured at the group index region of 0 < n g < 1 and −1 < n g < 0. The propagation time is measured to be t g = ±1 × 10 −7 s at the propagation length L x ( m ) and at v g = ±1 × 10 9 m s −1 in the range of group index of 0 < n g < 1 and −1 < n g < 0. The volume fractional change of nano particles, probe/control field detuning and Rabi frequency of control field significantly influence the velocity sensitivity. The velocity sensitivity is measured to be 23 μ m s −1 by SPPs. The velocity sensitivity could be improved to 0.1 μ m s −1 by taking large ensemble of atomic coherence and large delay/advance in time due to SPPs.

Quantum coherent control of intensity- interrogation optical sensing of surface plasmon polaritons using a radio-frequency-driven atomic medium

Ibrar Ul Haq, Abdul Majeeed, Zeeshan Ali +1 more

In this work, a four-level atomic medium driven by radio-frequency (RF) coupled to a plasmonic structure is employed to manipulate the optical response actively. The sensitivity S I is analyzed under variations of RF coupling strength, control-field Rabi frequency, and probe detuning. The results reveal that RF modulation dramatically alters dispersion and absorption properties, resulting in variation in significant intensity-interrogation sensitivity. Under suitable tuning settings, a maximum calculated sensitivity of 2000 Wm −2 / RIU is obtained. The radio-frequency coupling provides an effective mechanism for controlling and optimizing the intensity-interrogation sensitivity of SPPs. The obtained results demonstrate a dynamically tunable approach for enhanced plasmonic sensors and tunable optical devices.

Particle microscopy by surface plasmon polariton waves at the interface of dielectric and silver silica nano-composites

Sami Ullah, Umer Wahid, Bakht Amin Bacha +2 more

Abstract The dielectric tensor of four level atomic medium coupled with dielectric function of silver silica nano-composites material to modify dispersion relation of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs). The rapid damping of SPPs is used to localized atomic particles in two dimension inverse position space. Directions, phases and intensity of the control field play important roles in the localization of atoms in a unit wavelength domain. Ten, six, four and two localization peaks are investigated by SPPs damping in different quadrants. A single broad localized peak symmetric about origin are also investigated. The theoretical work of this article may be useful for quantum information in Plasmonster technology.

Magneto-optical rotation of surface plasmon polaritons

Habibur Rahman, Hazrat Ali, Iftikhar Ahmad +2 more

Abstract We investigate magneto-optical rotation (MOR) of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) at the interface of a metal and a four-level atomic system. The MOR of SPPs can be controlled and modified with the intensity and frequency of the applied fields. We show the birefringence enhancement of the weak probe fields propagating through the atomic medium in the presence of the static magnetic field. The external magnetic field has a vital role in the generation and control over the MOR of SPPs. The MOR completely stops when either the external magnetic field or the probe field or both are tuned to resonance. A pretty behavior of MOR of SPPs is observed for a specific set of control field frequency. The enhanced MOR of SPP has significant applications in atomic spectroscopy, optical communication, nano-photonics, optical switches, and precise measurement.
