Antibunched two-mode two-photon bundles via atomic coherence

Abstract

In this paper we propose an efficient scheme to continuously generate two-mode two-photon bundles by using a three-level atomic system, in which two correlated channels are created for the bundle emission in different modes. It is shown that the antibunching effect not only happens between the same modes but also between two different modes. While the former is due to the dominance of cavity decay over atomic decay, the latter is based on the atomic coherence between the two final states of bundle emission. The antibunched two-mode two-photon bundles are achievable in a wide range of parameters and robust against environmental noise. This scheme provides a kind of photon sources for two-signal-based applications such as quantum information processing, high-precision metrology, and ultrasensitive biosensing.

Two‐Mode Correlated Multiphoton Bundle Emission

Yi Wang, Fen Zou, Jie‐Qiao Liao

Abstract The preparation of correlated multiphoton sources is an important research topic in quantum optics and quantum information science. Here, two‐mode correlated multiphoton bundle emission in a nondegenerate multiphoton Jaynes–Cummings model, which is comprised of a two‐level system coupled with two cavity modes is studied. The two‐level system is driven by a near‐resonant strong laser such that the Mollow regime dominates the physical processes in this system. Under certain resonance conditions, a perfect super‐Rabi oscillation between the zero‐photon state and the ()‐photon state of the two cavity modes can take place. Induced by the photon decay, the two‐mode correlated multiphoton bundle emission occurs in this system. More importantly, the results show that there is an antibunching effect between the strongly‐correlated photon bundles, so that the system behaves as an antibunched ()‐photon source. The work opens up a route toward achieving two‐mode correlated multiphoton source device, which has potential applications in modern quantum technology.

Antibunched N-photon bundles from dark states assisted by ac Stark shift

Chengdeng Gou, Jun Xu, Fei Wang +1 more

Abstract In this paper, we propose an interesting scheme to generate antibunched N-photon bundles from dark states by using a single-atom cavity quantum electrodynamics system. The dispersive coupling between the atom and cavity introduces a Stark shift to one of the ground states, while the resonant coupling, along with a control field, forms a coherent N-excitation dark state assisted by the shift. Consequently, super-Rabi oscillation is established between the vacuum state and the N-excitation dark state when a probe field weakly couples to two ground states, enabling antibunched N-photon bundle emission within long-lived atomic coherence. As a byproduct, the generated high-efficiency single-photon source with a large mean photon number and high fidelity is of great value in quantum information processing.

Two-photon decay enhanced even photon bundle emission

Biao Xiong, Qian Bin, Shi‐Lei Chao +2 more

Multiquanta emission holds significant value for quantum computing and quantum information processing. In this study, we aim to enhance multiphoton bundle emission by introducing two-photon decay into cavity quantum electrodynamics systems. By implementing parity protection induced by two-photon decay in the quantum jump process, we achieve complete suppression of odd photon emissions, resulting in high-purity, high-efficiency 2 n -photon bundle emission characterized by photon bunching and bundle antibunching. Our results indicate that this scheme can effectively produce 2 n -photon sources. Unlike previous methods that enhanced 2 n -photon bundle purity via parity protection during unitary processes which required ultrastrong cavity-atom coupling, this study is the first to focus on parity protection during nonunitary processes to improve emission purity. This innovative approach not only relaxes the ultrastrong coupling condition compared to earlier schemes, but it also opens new research directions for enhancing N -photon bundle emission. Furthermore, this work has the potential to advance the fields of multiphoton physics and parity theory.

High-purity fluorescence photon bundle emission from two separate emitters

Zhicai Chen, Jun Xu, Deyi Kong +2 more

We propose a scheme for generating high-purity fluorescence two-photon bundles from two spatially separate two-level emitters, whose correlated excitation is mediated by a strongly driven auxiliary emitter. Unlike bosonic-mode-based approaches, the finite excitation space of the two target emitters intrinsically excludes higher-excitation manifolds, and thus eliminates impurity photons associated with undesired higher-excitation states. We further analytically characterize the residual population of off-resonant single-excitation states and show that suppressing the corresponding leakage improves photon bundle purity. Our scheme offers a feasible pathway for constructing high-purity quantum light sources with promising applications in quantum information processing.

Antibunched entangled photon pair emission via two-photon excitation in a four-level quantum dot within an optical cavity

Zhenglu Duan, Cuicui Li, Yongkang Shao +1 more

Entangled photon pairs are a crucial resource in quantum information processing. However, common sources of entangled photon pairs, such as generation by spontaneous parametric down-conversion, impose a Poisson distribution on the pairs, limiting their applicability to quantum information processing. Therefore, generating entangled photon pairs exhibiting a sub-Poisson distribution (i.e., entangled photon bundle) would be crucial/an important advancement in the current research context. Recently, it has been proposed that antibunched photon pairs can be generated using pulsed excitation of quantum dots based on photon blockade. In this work we propose a scheme to generate entangled photon pairs with strong antibunching properties via continuous driving. Under two-photon resonant continuous pumping, a quantum dot is first excited to a biexciton state and then emits a pair of entangled photons into a two-mode cavity. Owing to the strong coupling between the quantum dot and optical modes of the cavity, at most one pair of left-/right-polarized photons exists at a time in the cavity. Specifically, the antibunching effect, average photon number, and entanglement of the left- or right-polarized photons can be resonantly enhanced when the coupling strengths between the exciton (biexciton) transition and cavity modes are equal. Moreover, our results show that the binding energy of the biexciton substantially affects the antibunching effect, average photon number, and entanglement of the left-/right-polarized photons. With suitable parameters, we can realize photon pairs with strong antibunching, a large average photon number, and deep entanglement. Hence, the studied quantum dot-cavity system is a promising source of antibunched entangled photon pairs.

Multiple-photon bundle emission in the n-photon Jaynes-Cummings model

Shu-Yuan Jiang, Fen Zou, Yi Wang +3 more

We study the multiple-photon bundle emission in the n-photon Jaynes-Cummings model composed of a two-level system coupled to a single-mode optical field via the n-photon exciting process. Here, the two-level system is strongly driven by a near-resonant monochromatic field, and hence the system can work in the Mollow regime, in which a super-Rabi oscillation between the zero-photon state and the n-photon state can take place under proper resonant conditions. We calculate the photon number populations and the standard equal-time high-order correlation functions, and find that the multiple-photon bundle emission can occur in this system. The multiple-photon bundle emission is also confirmed by investigating the quantum trajectories of the state populations and both the standard and generalized time-delay second-order correlation functions for multiple-photon bundle. Our work paves the way towards the study of multiple-photon quantum coherent devices, with potential application in quantum information sciences and technologies.
