Abstract

Multiquanta emission holds significant value for quantum computing and quantum information processing. In this study, we aim to enhance multiphoton bundle emission by introducing two-photon decay into cavity quantum electrodynamics systems. By implementing parity protection induced by two-photon decay in the quantum jump process, we achieve complete suppression of odd photon emissions, resulting in high-purity, high-efficiency 2 n -photon bundle emission characterized by photon bunching and bundle antibunching. Our results indicate that this scheme can effectively produce 2 n -photon sources. Unlike previous methods that enhanced 2 n -photon bundle purity via parity protection during unitary processes which required ultrastrong cavity-atom coupling, this study is the first to focus on parity protection during nonunitary processes to improve emission purity. This innovative approach not only relaxes the ultrastrong coupling condition compared to earlier schemes, but it also opens new research directions for enhancing N -photon bundle emission. Furthermore, this work has the potential to advance the fields of multiphoton physics and parity theory.

Parity-Symmetry-Protected Multiphoton Bundle Emission

Qian Bin, Ying Wu, Xin‐You Lü

We demonstrate symmetry protected multiphoton bundle emission in the cavity QED system under the ultrastrong coupling regime. Our proposal only enables the super-Rabi oscillations with periodic generation of even correlated photons in the cavity, which is realized by combining the laser driven flip of qubit and the symmetry conserved transitions induced by Rabi interaction with parity symmetry. Combined with dissipation, only 2n-photon bundle emissions are allowed, due to the almost perfect suppression of bundle emissions with odd correlated photons. Meanwhile, the corresponding purities are significantly enhanced by the parity symmetry. This work extends multiphoton bundle emission to the ultrastrong coupling regime, and offers the prospect of exploring symmetry-protected multiphoton physics.

Dynamical N-photon bundle emission

Fen Zou, Yong Li, Jie‐Qiao Liao

Abstract Engineering multiphoton resources is of importance in quantum metrology, quantum lithography, and biological sensing. Here we propose a concept of dynamical emission of N strongly-correlated photons. This is realized in a circuit quantum electrodynamical system driven by two Gaussian-pulse sequences. The underlying physical mechanism relies on the stimulated Raman adiabatic passage that allows efficient and selective preparation of target multiphoton states. Assisted by the photon decay, a highly pure N-photon bundle emission takes place in this system. In particular, the dynamical N-photon bundle emission can be tuned by controlling the time interval between consecutive pulses so that the device behaves as an N-photon gun, which can be triggered on demand. Our work opens up a route to achieve multiphoton source devices, which have wide potential applications in quantum information processing and quantum metrology.

Antibunched two-mode two-photon bundles via atomic coherence

Chengdeng Gou, Xiangming Hu, Fei Wang

In this paper we propose an efficient scheme to continuously generate two-mode two-photon bundles by using a three-level atomic system, in which two correlated channels are created for the bundle emission in different modes. It is shown that the antibunching effect not only happens between the same modes but also between two different modes. While the former is due to the dominance of cavity decay over atomic decay, the latter is based on the atomic coherence between the two final states of bundle emission. The antibunched two-mode two-photon bundles are achievable in a wide range of parameters and robust against environmental noise. This scheme provides a kind of photon sources for two-signal-based applications such as quantum information processing, high-precision metrology, and ultrasensitive biosensing.

Two‐Mode Correlated Multiphoton Bundle Emission

Yi Wang, Fen Zou, Jie‐Qiao Liao

Abstract The preparation of correlated multiphoton sources is an important research topic in quantum optics and quantum information science. Here, two‐mode correlated multiphoton bundle emission in a nondegenerate multiphoton Jaynes–Cummings model, which is comprised of a two‐level system coupled with two cavity modes is studied. The two‐level system is driven by a near‐resonant strong laser such that the Mollow regime dominates the physical processes in this system. Under certain resonance conditions, a perfect super‐Rabi oscillation between the zero‐photon state and the ()‐photon state of the two cavity modes can take place. Induced by the photon decay, the two‐mode correlated multiphoton bundle emission occurs in this system. More importantly, the results show that there is an antibunching effect between the strongly‐correlated photon bundles, so that the system behaves as an antibunched ()‐photon source. The work opens up a route toward achieving two‐mode correlated multiphoton source device, which has potential applications in modern quantum technology.

Strong single-photon to two-photon bundles emission in spin-1 Jaynes–Cummings model

Jing Tang, Yuangang Deng

High-quality special nonclassical states beyond the strong single atom-cavity coupling regime are fundamental elements in quantum information science. Here, we study strong single-photon blockade to two-photon bundles emission in a single spin-1 atom coupled to an optical cavity by constructing a spin-1 Jaynes–Cummings model (JCM). By tuning the quadratic Zeeman shift, the energy-spectrum anharmonicity can be significantly enhanced, leading to a remarkable increase in the dressed-state splitting of the well-resolved n-photon resonance. The mechanism, which benefits from the internal degrees of freedom in high-spin systems, compensates for the strong coupling condition required by the multi-photon blockade, thereby facilitating the experimental feasibility of engineering special nonclassical states beyond the strong-coupling limit. It is shown that the photon emission from the spin-1 JCM demonstrates high-quality single photon and two-photon bundles with large steady-state photon numbers in the cavity-driven and atom-pump cases, respectively. In particular, compared to the two-level two-photon JCM, the antibunching amplitude of the three-order correlation function for two-photon bundles in the spin-1 JCM is enhanced by 3 orders of magnitude. More interestingly, a multimode transducer, enabling a transition from strong single-photon blockade to two-photon bundles and super-Poissonian photon emission, is achieved and highly controllable by the light-cavity detuning in the presence of both atom and cavity driven fields. This study based on the high-spin JCM broadens the scope of engineering special nonclassical quantum states beyond the standard two-level JCM. Our proposal not only opens up a new avenue for generating high-quality n-photon sources but also provides versatile applications in quantum networks and metrology.

Tripartite Interactions Induced Strongly Correlated Quantum Emissions

Qian Bin, Ying Wu, Franco Nori +1 more

Efficient generation of multiquanta emission is crucial for quantum information processing but remains challenging due to its typical reliance on higher-order quantum processes. Here, we theoretically demonstrate strongly correlated photon-phonon emission enabled by direct tripartite interaction. This interaction facilitates the formation of high-order multiquanta states without more intermediate state transitions, thereby avoiding the suppressed transition rates associated with multiple sequential processes and substantially improving resonant transitions. As a result, high-efficiency strongly correlated even-quanta emission (e.g., two photons and two phonons) can be achieved in the presences of dissipation. Beyond that, we show that introducing two-photon dissipation enables strongly correlated odd-quanta emission (e.g., two photons and one phonon) in the tripartite interaction system by parity-protected suppression of single-photon loss and reconstruction of higher-order multiquanta processes. Our work extends multiquanta emission into the tripartite coupling regime and holds promising potential for applications in hybrid quantum networks.
