Abstract

We demonstrate symmetry protected multiphoton bundle emission in the cavity QED system under the ultrastrong coupling regime. Our proposal only enables the super-Rabi oscillations with periodic generation of even correlated photons in the cavity, which is realized by combining the laser driven flip of qubit and the symmetry conserved transitions induced by Rabi interaction with parity symmetry. Combined with dissipation, only 2n-photon bundle emissions are allowed, due to the almost perfect suppression of bundle emissions with odd correlated photons. Meanwhile, the corresponding purities are significantly enhanced by the parity symmetry. This work extends multiphoton bundle emission to the ultrastrong coupling regime, and offers the prospect of exploring symmetry-protected multiphoton physics.

Two-photon decay enhanced even photon bundle emission

Biao Xiong, Qian Bin, Shi‐Lei Chao +2 more

Multiquanta emission holds significant value for quantum computing and quantum information processing. In this study, we aim to enhance multiphoton bundle emission by introducing two-photon decay into cavity quantum electrodynamics systems. By implementing parity protection induced by two-photon decay in the quantum jump process, we achieve complete suppression of odd photon emissions, resulting in high-purity, high-efficiency 2 n -photon bundle emission characterized by photon bunching and bundle antibunching. Our results indicate that this scheme can effectively produce 2 n -photon sources. Unlike previous methods that enhanced 2 n -photon bundle purity via parity protection during unitary processes which required ultrastrong cavity-atom coupling, this study is the first to focus on parity protection during nonunitary processes to improve emission purity. This innovative approach not only relaxes the ultrastrong coupling condition compared to earlier schemes, but it also opens new research directions for enhancing N -photon bundle emission. Furthermore, this work has the potential to advance the fields of multiphoton physics and parity theory.

Frequency-resolved N-photon correlations in the ultra-strong coupling regime

Wen Huang, Qian Bin, Ying Wu +1 more

Frequency-resolved photon emission is central to applications from quantum information encoding to high-resolution spectroscopy, and then studying their correlations is therefore essential for revealing the underlying emission pathways and multiphoton statistics. Here, we investigate frequency-resolved N-photon correlations in an ultrastrongly coupled cavity QED system where a qubit interacts with a single-mode cavity. Owing to counter-rotating interactions, the eigenstates and energy spectrum are strongly modified, giving rise to rich spectral and statistical properties in the emitted frequency-resolved photons. Through frequency-selective detection, we reveal pronounced multiphoton antibunching, as well as multiphoton bunching originating from cascade transitions among dressed eigenstates. In particular, we show that parity symmetry plays a decisive role in shaping these correlations. The symmetry-breaking opens additional transition channels and dramatically enhances the generation of correlated photon pairs and even photon triplets of different frequencies. Our work extends frequency-resolved correlations to the ultra-strong coupling regime and demonstrates their potential as a sensitive probe of symmetry in light-matter interaction systems.

Two‐Mode Correlated Multiphoton Bundle Emission

Yi Wang, Fen Zou, Jie‐Qiao Liao

Abstract The preparation of correlated multiphoton sources is an important research topic in quantum optics and quantum information science. Here, two‐mode correlated multiphoton bundle emission in a nondegenerate multiphoton Jaynes–Cummings model, which is comprised of a two‐level system coupled with two cavity modes is studied. The two‐level system is driven by a near‐resonant strong laser such that the Mollow regime dominates the physical processes in this system. Under certain resonance conditions, a perfect super‐Rabi oscillation between the zero‐photon state and the ()‐photon state of the two cavity modes can take place. Induced by the photon decay, the two‐mode correlated multiphoton bundle emission occurs in this system. More importantly, the results show that there is an antibunching effect between the strongly‐correlated photon bundles, so that the system behaves as an antibunched ()‐photon source. The work opens up a route toward achieving two‐mode correlated multiphoton source device, which has potential applications in modern quantum technology.

Tunable multiphoton bundles emission in a Kerr-type two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model

Jing Tang, Yuangang Deng

We present a study on manipulation and enhancement of multiphoton bundles emission under a moderate atom-cavity coupling, by constructing a two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model integrated with Kerr nonlinearity in a single atom-cavity system. We show that the vacuum-Rabi splittings for the n th dressed states can be significantly enhanced by Kerr interaction. This remarkable enhancement in energy-spectrum anharmonicity with the well-resolved multiphoton resonance facilitates the generation of special nonclassical states beyond the strong-coupling limit in the experiment. In particular, both two- and three-photon blockades are observed with adjusting the amplitude of the cavity-driving or atom-pump fields. Moreover, we discover that transitions between two- and three-photon bundles can be achieved through tuning the atom-cavity detuning or Kerr nonlinearity. It further showcases the three-photon blockade is substantially strengthened when both the cavity and atomic fields are jointly driven. Our proposal unveils a pathway for realizing highly controllable nonclassical states and quantum devices with combining two-photon Jaynes-Cummings interactions and Kerr nonlinearity, which may pave the way for versatile applications in quantum information science, e.g., all-optical switches and transistors. Tunable Single- and Multiphoton Bundles in Cavity-Coupled Atomic Arrays

Geng Zhao, Yun Chen, Jiayuang Zhang +2 more

We propose an experimentally accessible scheme for realizing tunable nonclassical light in cavity-coupled reconfigurable atomic arrays. By coherently controlling the collective interference phase, the system switches from single-photon blockade to high-purity multiphoton bundle emission, unveiling a hierarchical structure of photon correlations dictated by atom-number parity and cavity detuning. The scaling of photon population identifies the transition between superradiant and subradiant regimes, while parity- and phase-dependent spin correlations elucidate the microscopic interference processes enabling coherent multiphoton generation. This work establishes a unified framework connecting cooperative atomic interactions to controllable nonclassical photon statistics and introduces a distinct interference-enabled mechanism that provides a practical route toward high-fidelity multiphoton sources in scalable cavity QEDs.

Multiphoton quantum Rabi oscillations in ultrastrong cavity QED

Luigi Garziano, Roberto Stassi, Vincenzo Macrí +3 more

When an atom is strongly coupled to a cavity, the two systems can exchange a single photon through a coherent Rabi oscillation. This process enables precise quantum-state engineering and manipulation of atoms and photons in a cavity, which play a central role in quantum information and measurement. Recently, a new regime of cavity QED was reached experimentally where the strength of the interaction between light and artificial atoms (qubits) becomes comparable to the atomic transition frequency or the resonance frequency of the cavity mode. Here we show that this regime can strongly modify the concept of vacuum Rabi oscillations, enabling multiphoton exchanges between the qubit and the resonator. We find that experimental state-of-the-art circuit-QED systems can undergo two- and three-photon vacuum Rabi oscillations. These anomalous Rabi oscillations can be exploited for the realization of efficient Fock-state sources of light and complex entangled states of qubits.
