Abstract

Abstract In this paper, we investigate the time evolution of the atomic operators of a two-Ievel atom interacting with the field via a two –photon Process within and without the rotating-wave approximation (RWA) by means of non-relativestic QED. We also verified that the virtual photon field is the cause for quantum chaos embodied by the periodic decay and revival effect of the atom using the numerical and analytic methods, and discussed the reason of neglecting the influence of the virtual photon field on the revival time. 作者及机构信息 彭金生;李高翔;周鹏 1. 华中师范大学物理系 湖北教育学院物理系 Authors and contacts Peng Jin-sheng; Li Gao-xiang; Zhou Peng 参考文献 施引文献

INFLUENCE OF THE VIRTUAL PHOTON FIELD ON THE ATOMIC QUANTUM CHARACTER IN TWO-MODE SQUEEZING VACUUM FIELD

We have investigated in the time-evolution and the squeezing character of atomic operators in a system of two-mode squeezed vacuum field interacting with a two-level atom without the rotating-wave approximation by means of quantum theory. The results obtained using the numerical method indicate that the influence of the virtual-photon field on the atomic quantum character is mainly the cause for quantum chaos which is related to the quantum character of the system itself.

Study of Some Properties of Two-Level Atom in Quantum Optics

Rui‐Hua Xie, Gong-ou Xu, Dun-huan Liu

With the concept of negative photon and the -photon J C model, we investigate analytically the effect of virtual photon field on the collapse revival effect of atomic inversion and squeezing of atom, we find that there is a significant effect of virtual photon field on atomic inversion and squeezing of atom; with the one-photon model as an example, we find that the squeezing of atom occurs periodically, the time and times of squeezing are only related to the resonance frequency and the amplitude of squeezing related to coupling constant of atom field, mean photon number and resonance frequency; also we show that the effect of squeezing of atom does not exist within rotating wave approximation if . Taking the approach of nearest-neighboring spectrum in the quantum chaos field, we investigate the properties of energy spectrum in one-photon JC model and show that the integrable region, non-integrable region and transition region of this system can be illustrated by a phase diagram;also we discuss the influence of interaction of atoms on spectrum and statistics of adjacent energy levels, we find that the influence of interaction is little obvious in strong field but takes great important role in weak field.

Virtual Photon Effects on Chaos in Generalized Lorenz-Haken Equation

JURui, Rui Rui, Huang +7 more

The dynamics of an ensemble of two-level atoms injected into a single-mode cavity is studied in the exact atom-field interaction situation, in which the counter-rotating terms describing the so-called virtual photon processes neglected in the rotating-wave approximation, are considered. The cavity mode is driven by the injected classical field, and the atom is prepared in a coherent superposition of the two levels. We first derive the generalized Lorenz-Haken equation by using the technique of quantum Langevin equation, and then numerically study the dynamics of this equation. We find that the virtual photon processes have strong effects on the dynamics, which can cause the trajectory in phase space of strange attractor spiral around four focus points, and the trajectory is modulated by virtual photon processes. The chaos region in parameter space is now enlarged. It should be stressed that the strange attractor can exist in optical bistability, and whether the atomic coherences and classical field can inhibit chaos depends on the laser frequency.

Study of Squeezing Properties in a Two-level System

Rui-hua Xie, Gong-ou Xu, Dun-huan Liu

We have studied the squeezing properties of a field and atom in a two-level system. The influence of nonlinear interactions (Le. the arbitrary intensity-dependent coupling of a single-mode field to a single two-level atom, the nonlinear interaction of the field with a nonlinear Kerr-like medium) on the squeezing is discussed in detail in the rotating wave approximation (RWA). We show numerically that the effect of the virtual-photon field suppresses dipole squeezing predicted in the RWA and leads to an increased squeeze revival period; the suppressed squeezing can be revived due to the presence of the nonlinear Kerr-like medium.
