Abstract

We have studied the squeezing properties of a field and atom in a two-level system. The influence of nonlinear interactions (Le. the arbitrary intensity-dependent coupling of a single-mode field to a single two-level atom, the nonlinear interaction of the field with a nonlinear Kerr-like medium) on the squeezing is discussed in detail in the rotating wave approximation (RWA). We show numerically that the effect of the virtual-photon field suppresses dipole squeezing predicted in the RWA and leads to an increased squeeze revival period; the suppressed squeezing can be revived due to the presence of the nonlinear Kerr-like medium.

STUDY OF DYNAMICAL SYMMETRY BETWEEN THE FIELD AND ATOMIC DIPOLE SQUEEZING IN A TWO-LEVEL SYSTEM

Rui-hua Xie, 南京大学物理系

The symmetry between the field and atomic dipole squeezing(SFAS)has been exposed in the resonant JCM. The influence of some nonlinear interactions, including the nonresonant interaction, the virtual-photon processes, the intensity-dependent coupling and the interaction of a Kerr-like medium with the cavity on the SFAS has been discussed . At(2m+1)-quantum resonance, the relationship between the field and atomic squeezing has been examined.

Numerical study of squeezing in the Jaynes-Cummings model with and without the rotating wave approximation

Rui‐Hua Xie, Tie-Jun Zhout, Qin Rao

Dipole squeezing in the Jaynes-Cummings model with and without the rotating wave approximation (RWA) has been numerically studied when restricted to the following initial conditions: the field in the superposition of the vacuum and one-photon state, and the atom in the ground state. Numerical results show that even if under the condition for which the RWA is considered to be valid, there is a significant effect caused by the virtual-photon field on the dipole squeezing; in the cases of sufficiently strong coupling of the atom-field interaction, the interference between the virtual-photon processes and the real-photon processes quenches the dipole squeezing.

On atomic squeezing in a generalized multiphoton Jaynes–Cummings model

Rui‐Hua Xie

Dynamical evolution of atomic squeezing is studied in a generalized multiphoton Jaynes–Cummings model. The influence of some nonlinear interactions and the counter-rotating wave term on the squeezing is discussed in detail. These nonlinear interactions influence the squeeze duration and its revival period. In a multiphoton transition, switching on the counter-rotating wave term has a much more destructive effect on the squeezing, but this destructive effect is weakened due to the presence of a nonlinear Kerr-like medium.

Dipole Squeezing Effects of a A-type Three-level Atom Interacting with a Two-mode Coherent Field in a Kerr-like Medium

Lihui Zhang

The dipole squeezing effects of a A-type three-level atom interacting with a two-mode coherent field are investigated. Through the numerical calculations, the influences of the Kerr effect and the one-photon frequency detuning on the atomic dipole squeezing are also discussed. It is shown that the atomic dipole squeezing reduces up to disappearence and that the time of the squeezing becomes short with increasing the Kerr effect, but that the atomic dipole squeezing raises and that the time of the squeezing becomes long with increasing the one-photon frequency detuning .

Squeezing properties in a system of entangled atoms interacting with optical field

Mingsheng Zhan

The squeezing properties of a light-atom interacting system are studied by means of quantum theory. In the system, two two-level atoms are initially in an entangled state, and the coherent optical field in a Kerr medium is in a coherent state. Influence of the coupling constant ga of dipole-dipole interaction between atoms and the coupling strength x of the Kerr medium with the optical field on the double atoms dipole squeezing and optical field squeezing are discussed by numerical calculations. It is found that under weak optical field condition, large ga and x weaken the atomic dipole squeezing; and under strong optical field condition, large ga increases the optical field squeezing events while large x reduces the frequency.
