Abstract

We propose effective W-state fusion schemes for nonlocal electron-spin states and photon states by using the nitrogen-vacancy centers defect in diamond coupled to microtoroidal resonators. Using these schemes, a (m+n-1)-qubit W state can be obtained by fusing n-qubit and m-qubit W states (m, n ≥ 2), which means these schemes are applicable to create arbitrary scale W states with Bell states as the initial resource. The construction of these schemes is very compact and simple compared with the previous logical-gate-based fusion schemes. We analyze the feasibility and evaluate the optimal resource cost of the schemes, which shows that the present schemes can be realized with high fidelities and less resource cost than the previous schemes. Our schemes may be significant for the large-scale solid-state-based entanglement generation and for photon-qubit-based quantum information processing tasks.

Quantum state engineering with nitrogen-vacancy centers coupled to low-Q microresonator

Liu‐Yong Cheng, Hong‐Fu Wang, Shou Zhang +1 more

We demonstrate efficient schemes of deterministic entanglement generation and quantum state transfer (QST) with the nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond confined in separated microtoroidal resonators via single-photon input-output process. Assisted by the polarization of input photon pulse and the electron spin state of NV center, high fidelity NV center entangled states and photonic entangled states can be generated, respectively. The analyses of experimental feasibility show that our schemes work well with low quality resonators and weak coupling between qubits, which may be beneficial for exploring large-scale quantum information processing with diamond-based solid-state devices.

Effective W-state fusion strategies for electronic and photonic qubits via the quantum-dot-microcavity coupled system

Xue Yan Han, Shi Hu, Qi Guo +3 more

We propose effective fusion schemes for stationary electronic W state and flying photonic W state, respectively, by using the quantum-dot-microcavity coupled system. The present schemes can fuse a n-qubit W state and a m-qubit W state to a (m + n - 1)-qubit W state, that is, these schemes can be used to not only create large W state with small ones, but also to prepare 3-qubit W states with Bell states. The schemes are based on the optical selection rules and the transmission and reflection rules of the cavity and can be achieved with high probability. We evaluate the effect of experimental imperfections and the feasibility of the schemes, which shows that the present schemes can be realized with high fidelity in both the weak coupling and the strong coupling regimes. These schemes may be meaningful for the large-scale solid-state-based quantum computation and the photon-qubit-based quantum communication.

Synchronized preparation of bi- and tri-qubit entanglement with nitrogen-vacancy centers coupled to microtoroidal resonators

Taian Wang, Shuai Feng, Yong Zhang

We research the input–output process with nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers fixed on the surface of micro-toroidal resonators (MTRs) with whispering-gallery modes (WGMs) and then present an efficient scheme for the synchronized generation of Bell and W states. In our scheme, entanglement can be prepared with the assistance of the polarized photon pulse and electron spin state of NV center. The analysis of the efficiency shows that our scheme is feasible with the current technology, which can be further used for quantum information processing.

Implementation of a nonlocal N -qubit conditional phase gate using the nitrogen–vacancy center and microtoroidal resonator coupled systems

Cong Cao, Gang Liu, Ru Zhang +1 more

Implementation of a nonlocal multi-qubit conditional phase gate is an essential requirement in some quantum information processing (QIP) tasks. Recently, a novel solid-state cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) system, in which the nitrogen–vacancy (NV) center in diamond is coupled to a microtoroidal resonator (MTR), has been proposed as a potential system for hybrid quantum information and computing. By virtue of such systems, we present a scheme to realize a nonlocal N -qubit conditional phase gate directly. Our scheme employs a cavity input–output process and single-photon interference, without the use of any auxiliary entanglement pair or classical communication. Considering the currently available technologies, our scheme might be quite useful among different nodes in quantum networks for large-scaled QIP.

Scalable multi-qubit quantum gates in quantum networks based on the microtoroidal-resonator-mediated nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond

Taian Wang, Yong Zhang

In the paper, we present schemes for implementing multi-qubit quantum gates in quantum networks based on the nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond. In our schemes, NV centers coupled to the whispering-gallery modes of microtoroidal resonators serve as quantum registers to store quantum information. By coding the qubits of NV centers into decoherence-free subspaces, quantum information encoded in logical qubits is protected from collective dephasing, and quantum controlled-NOT and Toffoli gates between logical qubits from the same or different quantum nodes can be implemented. Compared with the previous works, our schemes are simpler and reduce the consumption of resources. Furthermore, the modularized design of multi-qubit quantum gates can be extended to other quantum platforms, which may lead to more efficient construction of quantum networks for distributed quantum computation and quantum communication.

Cluster state entanglement generation and concentration on nitrogen-vacancy centers in decoherence-free subspace

Cong Cao, Tie-Jun Wang, Ru Zhang +1 more

Exploiting the composite system in which two nitrogen-vacancy centers coupled to a microtoroid resonator, we proposed the cluster state entanglement generation and concentration schemes on nitrogen-vacancy centers in decoherence-free subspace. The proposed system is well suited for the systematic preparation of cluster states in one-way quantum computation due to the controllability and scalability. Accompanied with the optimal entanglement concentration protocol for the logic-qubit expanded cluster state, one can efficiently preserve the maximal entanglement. We discussed the experimental feasibility of our schemes by considering the currently available techniques, and believe that the schemes may be useful in further solid-state quantum information processing.
