Time-domain reference based physical layer security method

Abstract

The physical-layer security method based on the transmitter's multi-antenna redundant isn't applicable to the SIMO-OFDM system. To solve the problem, this paper proposed a physical layer security method based on time-domain reference. The legitimate receiver constructs the random multi-antenna vector in each subcarrier,of which the projection in the main channel was equal to the varying time-domain reference variable. The transmitter secured the transmitted signal of this moment with the previous time-domain reference variable. The random variation of the reference variable disturbed the eavesdropper's received signal constellation,so that the eavesdropper couldn't intercept the secret information. Security analysis and simulation results show that the legitimate receiver's BER is 10- 4,the eavesdropper couldn't correctly demodulate the received signals when the received SNR and antenna number is respectively 10 dB and 8.

Physical-layer security based on joint scrambling with spatial and frequency resource

Mingliang Li, Kaizhi Huang, Zhong Zhou

The projection of the random multi-antenna weighted vector structured with spatial scrambling is of constant modulus on the main channel, Eavesdropper can take the advantage of multi-antenna to intercept private information. To solve this problem, we design a kind of physical-layer secrecy method based on the joint scrambling with spatial and frequency resource. Based on the parallel transmission nature of OFDM, we construct a random multiple antenna weighted vector in the each subcarrier, the projection of which on the main channel is equal to a dynamic reference variable. The legitimate user can correctly demodulate the receive signal by this reference variable obtained from the estimation of the reference subcarrier. Meanwhile, because of the difference between the main channel and eavesdropper channel, eavesdropper can't obtain the useful information. The simulation results show that, when the legitimate users can correctly demodulate the received signal, the eavesdropper can't intercept the private information using whether blind equalization or MUSIC-like method.

Transmit Filter and Artificial Noise Design for Secure MIMO-OFDM Systems

Wenfei Liu, Ming Li, Xiaowen Tian +2 more

Physical layer security has been considered as an important security approach in wireless communications to protect legitimate transmission from passive eavesdroppers. This paper investigates the physical layer security of a wireless multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication system in the presence of a multiple-antenna eavesdropper. We first propose a transmit-filter-assisted secure MIMO-OFDM system which can destroy the orthogonality of eavesdropper's signals. Our proposed transmit filter can disturb the reception of eavesdropper while maintaining the quality of legitimate transmission. Then, we propose another artificial noise (AN)-assisted secure MIMO-OFDM system to further improve the security of the legitimate transmission. The time-domain AN signal is designed to disturb the reception of eavesdropper while the legitimate transmission will not be affected. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the security performance of the proposed transmit filter design and AN-assisted scheme in the MIMO-OFDM system.

Security method of wireless physical layer security based on multipath channel random delay

Liang Jin

For the wire-tapping in wireless communication system, this paper presented an encrypting method based on channel multipath delay-time information to ensure the security of physical layer in wireless communication system. In this method, the transmitter made the time to transmit symbol random with channel multipath delay-time information that estimated, and made the received signal of legitimate receiver stronger at the synchronization location. So the legitimate could receive the information normally. While the received signal of eavesdropper turned random for different channel information, such as phase and range. Then the eavesdropper couldn't recover the information with the random received signal, and the error probability was high, which increased the security of legitimate receiver. The simulations show that the method can keep the eavesdropper's error probability at a high level,so as to increase the system security. Finally,it comes to the conclusion that this method can ensure the security of physical layer in wireless communication system with channel multipath.

A Security Scheme of Physical Layer transmission based on Projection in MIMO Wireless Communication

Zhang Shui-lian

A scheme based on projection operator is proposed to guarantee the information theoretical security in MIMO physical layer transmission. The transmitter has multiple antennas and is able to simultaneously transmit separately information bearing signal to the intended receiver and randomized interference to the eavesdropper in the projection space. An iterative algorithm of power allocation between them is given according to the secret channel capacity criteria.Based on the special statistical distributions of the adversary’s received signal, the indeterminacy of its blind deconvolution is proved.Numerical results indicate that the secret channel capacity of this scheme is enhanced with reduced bit error rate at the target user, while the eavesdropper can not demodulate correctly.

Physical Layer Security in a SISO Communication using Frequency-Domain Time-Reversal OFDM Precoding and Artificial Noise Injection

Sidney Golstein, François Rottenberg, François Horlin +2 more

A frequency domain (FD) time-reversal (TR) precoder is proposed to perform physical layer security (PLS) in single-input single-output (SISO) systems using orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) and artificial noise (AN) signal injection. The AN signal does not corrupt the data transmission to the legitimate receiver but degrades the decoding performance of the eavesdropper. This scheme guarantees the secrecy of a communication towards a legitimate user when the transmitter knows the instantaneous channel state information (CSI) of the legitimate link thanks to the channel reciprocity in time division duplex (TDD) systems, but does not know the instantaneous CSI of a potential eavesdropper. Three optimal decoding structures at the eavesdropper are considered in a fast fading (FF) environment depending on the handshake procedure between Alice and Bob. Closed-form approximations of the AN energy to inject in order to maximize the SR of the communication are derived. In addition, the required conditions at the legitimate receiver's end to guarantee a given SR are determined when Eve's signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is infinite. Furthermore, a waterfilling power allocation strategy is presented to further enhance the secrecy of the scheme. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the security performance of the proposed secure system.

The Signal Subspace Artificial Noise Space-Hopping Method of Physical Layer Security

Zhao Liu-k

Existing artificial noise method adds artificial noise into the null space of legal channel to reduce the probability of being intercepted when sending confidential signal,if the antenna of eavesdropper is not less than the transmitter,it is disable. To solve this problem, the signal subspace artificial noise space-hopping method of physical-layer-security is proposed. Transmitter randomly selected the signal subspace to transmit confidential signal, and added artificial noise to the signal subspace. The legitimate receiver selects the corresponding signal subspace according to the Space-hopping pattern, and removes the artificial noise superimposed in the confidential signal using the agreed artificial noise, then modulates the confidential information. The eavesdropper unknown Space-hopping pattern and the agreed artificial noise, cannot find the signal subspace and remove the artificial noise superimposed in the confidential signal,so cannot eavesdrop confidential information. Simulations show that legitimate receiver's SNR loss less than 3dB,and the symbol error rate of eavesdropper close to 0. 75 with QPSK modulation.
