The evolution properties of the phase of the two mode field for non degenerate Raman process are studied by means of the Pegg Barnett phase theory. The influece of the atomic coherence and the AC Stark shift on the phase probability distribution, the phase diffusion and the frequency shift are discussed.
The influence of Stark shift on the phase properties when an ideal cavity is filled with a Kerr-like medium and coupling is effected through nondegenerate Raman two-photon processes is studied. This has been carried out using the Hermitian phase formalism of Pegg and Barnett. We find that the phase properties of the field reflect the collapses and revivals of the level occupation probabilities in most situations. The interaction brings about the symmetrical splitting of the phase probability distribution. A number of interesting features are found and discussed.
By means of adiabatically eliminating the upper level or levels of a \ensuremath{\Lambda}-configuration atom coupling to a two-mode quantized field, we have studied the influences of ac Stark shifts on the atomic coherent population trapping in two important atom-field coupling systems via nondegenerate Raman two-photon processes. The states of the field that trap the atom in its two nondegenerate lower levels are obtained, and the important roles of ac Stark shifts and properties of the atomic upper level or levels in the states of the trapping field in two Raman-coupling systems are also analyzed.
