Abstract

The properties of the phase evolution of optical field in the Raman interaction of A -type three-level atom with a coherent state cavity-field of large amplititude are studied using the Pegg-Barnett phase theory, and the phase probability distribution and variance are calculated.

Phase properties of the radiation fields in Raman process

Peng Zhou

The general evolution of the interaction of two radiation fields with an effective two-level atom via the Raman-type transitions is presented. Using the Pegg-Barnett phase theory, the joint phase probability distribution of the two field modes, phase average values and phase fluctuations are studied in detail. Also, the effect of the presence of a field on the phase properties of the other mode is examined.

Phase properties of a field mode interacting withNtwo-level atoms

G. Drobný, Ts. Gantsog, Igor Jex

We analyze the phase properties of a strong cavity field interacting with an ensemble of initially excited N two-level atoms. Using the Pegg-Barnett phase formalism [Phys. Rev. A 39, 1665 (1989)], we calculate the phase probability distribution as well as the phase variance. The phase probability density exhibits a (N+1)-peak structure at the initial stages of the evolution. The phase variance is used to illustrate the progressive randomization of the phase on the long-time evolution. The difference in the phase dynamics for the N even and the N odd case is pointed out.

Properties of the phase evolution of two coupled atoms Raman interacting with squeezed vacuum field

Qian Yan, Ma Ai-Qun, MA Zhi-min +3 more

The properties of the phase evolution of two coupled atoms Raman interacting with squeezed vacuum field are studied using the Pegg-Barnett phase theory. The phase probability distribution and variance are calculated. The evolution of the phase probability distribution functions in some cases are given by curves in the polar coordinate system. The influence of Raman interaction between the coupled atoms with squeezed vacuum field, the dipole-dipole interaction between the atoms and the initial states of atoms on the phase properties are discussed.

The Phase Properties of the Field Interacting with Λ-type Atoms via Raman Coupling in a Dissipative Cavity

Liu Bao-ping

By means of Pegg and Barnett phase formalism, the phase properties of the field interacting with two Λ-type three-level atoms via Raman coupling in a phase damped cavity is discussed. The influences of decay coefficient of the cavity and the intensity of the field on the phase distribution as well as its fluctuation are discussed. The results show: if there is absence of the phase damping, the phase distribution oscillates with the period π/λ.It presents single leaf at t=nπ/λ,but it splits into multi-leaf construction during the evolution period due to the interaction between the field and the atoms. If there is presence of the phase damping, the obvious leaf construction of the phase distribution become obscure and contract into a circle, which indicates the random distribution of the phase. Moreover, the larger the decay coefficient is,the more rapidly the phase becomes random distribution. The narrowing of the leaf and the increasing amplitude of the phase distribution corresponds to a stronger field. The phase fluctuation shows damped oscillatory behavior and ultimately reaches a steady value in the phase damped cavity. The time for it to approach the steady value shortens when decay coefficient increases.

Phase Properties of a Field Mode Interacting with a Three-Level Atom with Kerr Nonlinearity

A.‐S. F. Obada, A.M. Abdel-Hafez, A. H. Essawy +1 more

Phase properties of a field interacting with a three-level atom with a Kerr-like medium are investigated through the phase formalism of Pegg and Barnett. The phase probability distribution, the expectation value and the phase fluctuations of the Hermitian phase operator are calculated. The phase properties of the field reflect the collapses and revivals. A number of interesting features are found and discussed.

Phase properties in the model of two coupling two-level atoms interacting with squeezed coherent light-field

Tao Xiang-yang

The phase properties in the system of the coupling two-level atoms interacting with squeezed coherent-state light-field is studied from the point of the Pegg-Barnett phase theory. The phase probability distribution and the phase fluctuation are investigated. Meanwhile, the influence of the field amplitude, the compressed parameter, and the coupling coefficient between atoms on the phase properties is also discussed. The results show that the phase probability distribution presents three-peak Gaussian configuration. The maximum of the phase probability distribution lies at the point of the zero phase arid the phase fluctuation is small, while at other place the value of the phase probability distribution is relatively small and vibrates easily. At the same time, because of the influence of light-field squeezing effect, the phase probability distribution is different from that of coherent-state field.
