Abstract

Based on the quantum Zeno dynamics, we propose a two-qubit non-geometric conditional phase gate between two nitrogen-vacancy centers coupled to a whispering-gallery mode cavity. The varying phases design of periodic laser can be used for realizing non-geometric conditional phase gate, and the cavity mode is virtually excited during the gate operation. Thus, the fidelity of the gate operation is insensitive to cavity decay and the fluctuation of the preset laser intensity. The numerical simulation with a realistic set of experimental parameters shows that the gate fidelity 0.987 can be within reached in the near future.

One-step implementation of quantum comtrolled-phase gate via quantum Zeno dynamics

Wenan Li, Lian-Fu Wei

We propose a scheme to implement a quantum controllable-phase gate via quantum Zeno dynamics. The two qubits are asymmetrically encoded by two four-level atoms coupled via a quantized cavity mode. Under proper conditions, the desirable logic operation can be implemented in one step. Since the qubit is encoded by the ground and the metastable states of the atom and the cavity mode is not really excited, our protocol is robust against the spontaneous decays of the atoms and cavity. Specifically, the feasibility of our generic proposal is demonstrated with two nitrogen-vacancy centers coupled to whispering-gallery microresonator.

A Controlled Phase Gate with Nitrogen-Vacancy Centers in Nanocrystal Coupled to a Silica Microsphere Cavity

Xue Peng

We show how a controlled phase gate, induced by adiabatic passage of dark states, can be implemented with the nitrogen-vacancy defects in nanocrystal coupled to the optical whispering gallery mode in a silica microsphere cavity. The gate presented is robust to the fluctuations of the experimental parameters compared to the dynamical and geometric phases gates. The feasibility of this scheme is characterized by exact numerical simulations that incorporate various sources of experiment noise. The results demonstrate the practicality by way of current experimental technologies.

Parallel-path implementation of nonadiabatic geometric quantum gates in a decoherence-free subspace with nitrogen-vacancy centers

M.-R. Yun, F.-Q. Guo, L.-L. Yan +5 more

We propose a scheme for nonadiabatic noncyclic geometric quantum computation in a decoherence-free subspace (DFS). The physical system we used is a cavity quantum electrodynamics system consisting of nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond and a whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) microresonator. This scheme not only has the feature of DFSs insensitive to decoherence, but also has the advantage of nonadiabatic noncyclic geometric quantum computation which has the built-in noise-resilience geometric feature and further enhances the robustness due to the ability beyond the limitation of the cyclic condition. An unconventional two-qubit phase gate in DFS has been realized in one step with our parallel protocol, which can largely shorten the computation time and the system error caused by decoherence. In addition, a scheme to realize a parallel process of two evolution paths is put forward to achieve the distribution quantum computation of two WGM microresonators containing a NV center in each. Our scheme may provide a promising way towards the practical realization of high-fidelity geometric quantum computation with the features of a DFS, geometric phase, and parallel implementation process.

One-step implementation of multiqubit conditional phase gating with nitrogen-vacancy centers coupled to a high-Q silica microsphere cavity

The diamond nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center is an excellent candidate for quantum information processing, whereas entangling separate NV centers is still of great experimental challenge. We propose a one-step conditional phase flip with three NV centers coupled to a whispering-gallery mode cavity by virtue of the Raman transition and smart qubit encoding. As decoherence is much suppressed, our scheme could work for more qubits. The experimental feasibility is justified.

Robust \sqrt{{\bf swap}} gate on nitrogen-vacancy centres via quantum Zeno dynamics

Shou Zhang, Xiao‐Qiang Shao, Li Chen +2 more

A robust gate is directly put forward by manipulating two diamond nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centres coupled to a photonic crystal nanocavity within quantum Zeno subspaces. This quantum gate is immune to both the loss of cavity and spontaneous emission of the NV centre, since no cavity photon or excited level of the NV centre is populated during the whole operation. The strictly numerical simulation shows that the average fidelity of the gate is high corresponding to the current experimental parameters.
