Dynamics properties of the system consisting of a Λtype atom and a V-type atom trapped individually in two separated cavities connected by an optical fiber

LU Dao-ming

We consider a system consisting of a Λ-type atom and a V-type atom which are individually trapped in two spatially separated cavities that are connected by an optical fiber. The evolutions of the excitions of atom 1,atom 2,cavity A,cavity B and fiber mode are given. We discuss the influence of cavity-fiber coupling coefficient on the excitions. The results obtained by the numerical method show that the excitions of cavity A and cavity B decrease with increase of the cavity-fiber coupling coefficient. On the other hand, the excition of fiber mode shows a nonlinear variation with increase of the cavity-fiber coupling coefficient.

Photon statistics of the micromaser with ultra cold Λ-type three-level atoms

Zhang Zhi-ming, LI Xian-feng, Zhou Shi-kang

We have established the master equation for the micromaser with the ultra-cold Λ-type three-level atoms and studied the photon statistics of the micromaser field. We find that as the atoms become colder, the change of the mean photon-number and the normalized standard deviation become more regular, and their resonance peaks become sharper. For zero-temperature cavity, there are some regions in which the photon statistics are sub-Poissonian. With the increase of the cavity temperature, both the mean photon-number and the normalized standard deviation increase. When the cavity temperature is high enough, the sub-Poissonian property may disappear.

Quantum-nondemolition measurements using cold trapped atoms: Comparison between theory and experiment

Alice Sinatra, Jean-François Roch, K. Vigneron +4 more

In this paper we present a detailed theoretical analysis of a recent quantum-nondemolition experiment in optics using cold atoms in a magneto-optical trap as a nonlinear medium. A signal beam and a meter beam from two independent lasers are coupled within a \ensuremath{\Lambda}-type three-level scheme in the $D1$ line of ${}^{87}\mathrm{Rb}$ atoms. The experimental results for the relevant quantum correlations of the fields, that represent up to now the best achievements for a single back-action evading measurement, are found in a remarkably good agreement with the theoretical predictions from a fully quantum model for three-level atoms in a doubly resonant cavity.
