Abstract

A new time domain interference scheme, called SSP, is presented, similar to the SSB scheme in the frequency domain. The embedded detection of a strong reference makes it secure against PNS attack. (2 pages)

Enhanced throughput for QKD: a multiplexed approach

We report a new time-domain polarization-insensitive quantum key distribution scheme using single-side pulse detection. The system includes a strong reference that makes it secure against the PNS attack while using a fainted laser as a single photon source. It is possible to multiplex this scheme with the single sideband (SSB) technique. The resulting secure bit rate is then doubled allowing secure bit rate enhancement

Multidimensional Quantum Key Distribution with Single Side Pulse and Single Side Band Modulation Multiplexing

O.L. Guerreau

Quantum Cryptography enables secret distribution between remotes parties where classical communications fail. The proposed technique uses optical signal modulation to encode information with relative phase difference between frequency separated signals. The single side band detection scheme (SSB) enables efficient secret key distribution. The system security is guaranteed with a strong reference protocol. One can use a fainted laser source without security breach for any distance. A second proposed technique uses relative phase difference between time separated pulses. The single side pulse detection scheme (SSP) enables efficient secret key distribution and benefits the same security features as the SSB system. Both SSP and SSB may be multiplexed to increase the secure bit rate. The maximizing initial average energy is then one photon per pulse. The implemented SSB protocol includes an autocompensation system for the optical path fluctuations that make the system robust over long time periods.

Summary form only given. We propose a new approach, based on a single side band (SSB) detection scheme, that allows the BB84 protocol to be used in a robust scheme for quantum cryptography and eliminates both polarization and path-delay maintenance problems. An unbalanced integrated Mach Zehnder modulator modulates the intensity of the reference beam.

Security against individual attacks for realistic quantum key distribution

Norbert Lütkenhaus

I prove the security of quantum key distribution against individual attacks for realistic signals sources, including weak coherent pulses and down-conversion sources. The proof applies to the Bennett-Brassard 1984 protocol with the standard detection scheme (no strong reference pulse). I obtain a formula for the secure bit rate per time slot of an experimental setup, which can be used to optimize the performance of existing schemes for the considered scenario.

Research of a new quantum key protocol attacked

Hongyu Zhang

A new quantum key distribution protocol that differs from the BB84 protocol is analysised.Though 1/4 redundancy codes is introduced to slow the code transmit rate, the new protocol is an astonishing simple QKD(Quantum Key Distribution) protocol, and it is much more robust against PNS(Photon Number Splitting) attack than BB84.Lots of key bits will be revealed to Eve(an eavesdropper) when she uses PNS.For application, the security of the one-time pad is also obtained when the protocol is used.
