Abstract

Results of optical pumping of samarium and europium vapors by radiation of excimer XeCl*, XeF, and KrF* lasers are presented. Stimulated electronic Raman scattering of the XeF* laser radiation in samarium vapors at wavelengths λ C = 589.1 and 608.2 nm was obtained. Stimulated electronic Raman scattering was observed in the infrared spectrum range at wavelengths λ C = 2501 and 2414 nm when irradiating europium vapors by the KrF* laser radiation.

Investigation of electronic stimulated Raman scattering of excimer laser radiation by metal atoms

V S Verkhovskiĭ, Vladimir M. Klimkin, В. Е. Прокопьев +3 more

An experimental investigation was made of stimulated Raman scattering (STRS) of excimer laser radiation in barium, thulium, and europium vapors. The energy of XeF* laser radiation ( λ = 351 nm) converted to the yellow range (585 nm) in barium vapor was 6 mJ and the conversion efficiency was ∼39%. The spectral composition of the converted radiation is governed by the STRS, by four-wave parametric processes, and also by lasing due to the natural barium transition. Selection of the pump frequencies is required to concentrate the converted radiation at a single frequency and to reduce its divergence. Stimulated Raman scattering of XeCl* laser radiation ( λ = 308 nm) was achieved in thulium vapor at λ = 422 nm. In europium vapor in quasiresonance with the 6 s 2 8 S 0 1/2 –5 d 2 10 P 0 11/2 forbidden transition, stimulated emission was obtained due to the natural 5 d 2 10 P 0 11/2 –6 s 6 p 10 P 11/2 and 5 d 2 10 P 0 11/2 –6 s 6 p 10 P 3/2 transitions.

Conversion of KrCl and XeCl laser radiation to the visible spectral range by stimulated Raman scattering in lead vapor

Gennadii S Evtushenko, Sergey V. Mel'chenko, Aleksei N Panchenko +1 more

Conversion of KrCl and XeCl laser radiation by stimulated Raman scattering was achieved in lead vapor. The KrCl laser radiation was converted into three lines in the visible region at λ = 406, 590, and 723 nm by transitions from both the ground and first excited levels of the lead atom. The conversion efficiency of XeCl laser radiation of low spatial coherence was found to be limited by the activation of a competing nonlinear process.

High-efficiency Raman Conversion of XeCl Laser Radiation in Lead Vapour

Qihong Lou, Hongping Guo, Yunsheng Huo

Raman energy-conversion efficiency in lead vapour as high as 52% was obtained with a pumping XeCl excimer laser used in an unstable-resonator configuration. The characteristics of stimulated Raman scattering in lead vapour pumped by the XeCl laser with unstable and stable resonators were compared in detail. Relaxation oscillations of the Raman-shifted pulse were observed, and these are related to the effect of ground-state depletion of atoms in the lead vapour.

Stimulated Raman scattering and stimulated collision-induced fluorescence in barium vapor

Aorong Ding

The stimulated collision-induced fluorescence (SOF) at wavelengths of 472.6nm, 582.6nm and 648.3nm, as well as Raman-shifted radiation at wavelength of 475nm were observed in barium vapor pumped by broadband pulse of the XeOl laser. The SCF was found to be self-termination short pulses with FWHM of 8 ns, and its internsity inoreased with buffer-gas pressure. There existed time delay aa long as 20 ns between the front edges of the pump pulse and of the Raman-shifted pulse, and the Raman conversion efficiency decreased significantly as the buffer-gas pressure increasing.
