Abstract

The authors present a quantum electrodynamic model, soluble in the dipole and rotating wave approximation, for a three-level atom interacting with a two-mode resonant radiation field through the multiphoton transition mechanism. Population dynamics and photon statistics in this Jaynes-Cummings type model are examined.

Time evolution of a two-level atom with multiphoton transitions in detuned nonideal cavity

Eugene K. Bashkirov, Русакова Маргарита Сергеевна

The dynamics of detuned two-level Jaynes-Cummings model with multiphoton transitions in the finite Q-cavity has been considered. The time evolution of the mean photon number and atomic populations has been investigated for various values of the model parameters. The type of field statistics and photon bunching/antibunching effects has been examined.

Field statistics in some generalized Jaynes-Cummings models

Surendra Singh

Photon statistics in some fully quantized models of the interaction of a two-level atom with a single-mode radiation field have been studied using the operator equations of motion. Expressions for the photon number distribution and the mean photon number are presented for various initial conditions. It is found that the mean photon number may show decays and revivals of coherence similar to those of the atomic inversion in the coherent-state Jaynes-Cummings model. Application of these models to the study of multiphoton laser, absorption, and emission processes is also discussed.

Off-Resonance Behavior Of Atomic Interaction With Cavity Fields Of Arbitrary Detunings

D. L. Lin, Xiao-shen Li

The Jaynes-Cummings (JC) model has been studied extensively because of its simple and realistic representation of the dipole interaction between an atom and the quantized radiation field. It exhibits, without perturbative expansions or statistical decorrelations, many quantum mechanical effects in the case of strong or weak interaction, long or short time regime, on or off the resonance. The model is extended to a three-level atom for the investigation of physical phenomena associated with two-photon processes.

Multiphoton Jaynes-Cummings Model without the Rotating-wave Approximation

Mao-Fa Fang, Peng Zhou

The general time evolution of operators in the multiphoton Jaynes-Cummings model without the rotating-wave approximation is obtained. The contributions of the counter-rotating terms to atomic dynamics and field squeezing are examined in multiphoton processes.

On the exactly soluble model in quantum electrodynamics

Nikolay N. Bogolubov, Fam Le Kien, A.S. Shumovsky

The model of a ladder configuration three-level atom interacting with a two-mode near-resonant radiation field is treated. It is shown that the operator equations of motion can be solved explicitly. The dynamical behaviour of the photon numbers and level populations is studied for various initial conditions.

A modified Jaynes-Cummings model for an atom interacting with a classical multifrequency field

Michael Z. Smirnov

An open quantum system, which consists of a “dressed” two-level atom, i.e., an atom interacting with a classical multifrequency field, and a single quantized mode of an electromagnetic field, is examined. It is shown that when the frequency of the quantized mode coincides with one of the transition frequencies between the quasienergy levels, two interaction mechanisms, which differ in the dynamics of the populations of the quasienergy states, can be realized.
