On the exactly soluble model in quantum electrodynamics

Abstract

The model of a ladder configuration three-level atom interacting with a two-mode near-resonant radiation field is treated. It is shown that the operator equations of motion can be solved explicitly. The dynamical behaviour of the photon numbers and level populations is studied for various initial conditions.

On a Jaynes-Cummings type model with multiphoton transitions

A.S. Shumovsky, E.I. Aliskenderov, Fam Le Kien +1 more

The authors present a quantum electrodynamic model, soluble in the dipole and rotating wave approximation, for a three-level atom interacting with a two-mode resonant radiation field through the multiphoton transition mechanism. Population dynamics and photon statistics in this Jaynes-Cummings type model are examined.

The dynamics of a four-level three-mode system. Operator solution

M. Kozierowski, A.S. Shumovsky

In the dipole and rotating wave approximation the operator solutions for the level populations and photon numbers are found. The numerical results for the time-evolution of the level populations for the case of initially coherent pumping modes 1 and 3 (mode 2 initially in vacuum) are reported and compared with those for a three-level atom in the ladder and lambda configurations.

Dynamics of two three-level atoms in the finite-Q cavity

Eugene K. Bashkirov

On the basis of the master equation for the density matrix the dynamics of the collective spontaneous radiation of two (Lambda) - type three-level atoms interacting with two mode of quantum electromagnetic field in the damped cavity has been considered. The behavior of the photon numbers in modes and the atomic levels populations has been investigated in the case when only a single atom is excited at the initial time.

Collective dynamics of two three-level atoms in the finite-Q cavity

On the basis of the master equation for the density matrix the dynamics of the collective spontaneous radiation of two Λ - type three-level atoms interacting with two modes of quantum electromagnetic field in the damped cavity has been considered. The behaviour of the photon numbers in modes has been investigated in the case when both atoms are in excited state at the initial time.

Theory of the interaction of a single-mode resonant radiation field with N two-level atoms

Sunil Kumar, C. L. Mehta

The interaction of a resonant radiation field with two-level atoms (in the long-wavelength limit) is described by a Hamiltonian trilinear in the boson operators. It is shown that the dynamics of the system can be determined nearly exactly if either at least one of the three modes is strongly populated for all times or any two modes are separately strong in two complementary time domains. Explicit results are given in two important specific cases: (i) pumping of a ground-state atomic system by a coherent radiation field and (ii) coherent spontaneous emission. The results are compared with previously known approximate results. Our results are also applicable to certain parametric processes such as parametric amplification, frequency conversion, Raman and Brillouin scattering, etc., where an identical trilinear Hamiltonian is used to describe these processes.

The solutions of the equations of motion for the level population and photon number operators are obtained. The characteristic and photon distribution functions, the statistical moments of photon numbers and the correlations of modes are found.
