Abstract

The general time evolution of operators in the multiphoton Jaynes-Cummings model without the rotating-wave approximation is obtained. The contributions of the counter-rotating terms to atomic dynamics and field squeezing are examined in multiphoton processes.

On atomic squeezing in a generalized multiphoton Jaynes–Cummings model

Rui‐Hua Xie

Dynamical evolution of atomic squeezing is studied in a generalized multiphoton Jaynes–Cummings model. The influence of some nonlinear interactions and the counter-rotating wave term on the squeezing is discussed in detail. These nonlinear interactions influence the squeeze duration and its revival period. In a multiphoton transition, switching on the counter-rotating wave term has a much more destructive effect on the squeezing, but this destructive effect is weakened due to the presence of a nonlinear Kerr-like medium.

Many-atom Jaynes-Cummings model without rotating-wave approximation

JOSIP SEKE

The contribution of the counter-rotating terms in the many-atom Jaynes-Cummings model is examined. Numerical results for the time evolution and time averages of the atomic population inversion for various numbers of atoms and different initial fields (Fock and coherent-state fields) are presented. The results demonstrate the significance of the counter-rotating terms.

Squeezing in the many-atom Jaynes-Cummings model within and without the rotating-wave approximation

JOSIP SEKE

The time evolution of the atomic and field squeezing parameters in the many-atom Jaynes-Cummings model is investigated within and without the rotating-wave approximation. Moreover, in the single-atom case the influence of the cavity losses is examined as well.

Counter-rotating Contributions in the Jaynes-Cummings Model

Simon J. D. Phoenix

We present several perturbative approaches to the Jaynes-Cummings model of optical resonance with the counter-rotating terms included. We find that there exists a hitherto overlooked phase-dependence of the atomic inversion which is due to an interference between the rotating wave and counter-rotating contributions.

INFLUENCE OF THE COUNTER ROTATING TERMS ON THE SQUEEZING IN THE JAYNES–CUMMINGS MODEL FOR COHERENT AND SQUEEZED FIELDS

JOSIP SEKE

The significant influence of the counter rotating terms on the squeezing in the Jaynes–Cummings model is demonstrated. Numerical results for the time evolution of the atomic population inversion, and atomic and field squeezing parameters for initially coherent and squeezed fields are presented.

An approach to the time-dependent Jaynes-Cummings model without the rotating wave approximation

Jian Qi Shen

This report presents an approach to the exact solutions of the time-dependent Jaynes-Cummings (J-C) model without the rotating wave approximation (RWA). It is shown that there is a squeezing-operator unitary transformation for relating the J-C model without RWA and the one with RWA. Thus by using an appropriate squeezing unitary transformation, the time-dependent J-C model without RWA can be transformed into the one with RWA that has been exactly solved previously, and based on this one can readily obtain the exact solutions of the time-dependent Jaynes-Cummings (J-C) model without RWA. The approach presented here also shows that we can treat these two kinds of time-dependent J-C models (both with and without RWA) in a unified way.
