Abstract

An alternative scheme is proposed for the generation of an N-qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state with distant nitrogen-vacancy (N-V) centers confined in spatially separated photonic crystal (PC) nanocavities via input-output process of photon. The GHZ state is produced by the phase shift brought by the input-output photon. The certain polarized photon transmitted from a PC nanocavity side-coupled a waveguide can obtain different phase shifts due to the different spin states in diamond N-V centers and the optical spin selection rule. Our calculations show that the proposed scheme can work well with a large cavity damping rate which ensures the efficient output of photon.

Generation of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states for silicon-vacancy centers using a decoherence-free subspace

Yi‐Fan Qiao, Jia‐Qiang Chen, Xing‐Liang Dong +5 more

Generating Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states of solid-state spins is of great significance for quantum metrology and quantum error correction. We propose here an efficient scheme for generating high fidelity GHZ states in a solid-state setup where multiple silicon-vacancy (SiV) centers are embedded in a quasi-one-dimensional acoustic diamond waveguide. The lattice distortion gives rise to a strong strain coupling between the orbital degree of freedom of SiV centers and the continuum phonon modes. Due to the permutation symmetry, we can take advantage of the decoherence-free subspace to avoid dissipation. Under the quantum Zeno regime, two control fields are used to achieve a ladderlike coupling structure in decoherence-free subspace along with an off-resonant two-photon Raman transition process. We calculate the pulse sequences for $N=4$ and at the same time analyze the effect of different collective decay rates. Moreover, we consider the disorder in the imperfect position of SiV centers and the inhomogeneous strain coupling. This paper may provide a feasible protocol for the generation of GHZ states in a solid-state system.

Quantum state engineering with nitrogen-vacancy centers coupled to low-Q microresonator

Liu‐Yong Cheng, Hong‐Fu Wang, Shou Zhang +1 more

We demonstrate efficient schemes of deterministic entanglement generation and quantum state transfer (QST) with the nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond confined in separated microtoroidal resonators via single-photon input-output process. Assisted by the polarization of input photon pulse and the electron spin state of NV center, high fidelity NV center entangled states and photonic entangled states can be generated, respectively. The analyses of experimental feasibility show that our schemes work well with low quality resonators and weak coupling between qubits, which may be beneficial for exploring large-scale quantum information processing with diamond-based solid-state devices.

Effective scheme for preparation of a spin-qubit Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger state and W state in a quantum-dot-microcavity system

Yi‐Hao Kang, Yan Xia, Pei-Min Lu

We propose a scheme for the preparation of a spin-qubit Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state and W state by using quantum dots (QDs) in double-sided optical microcavities with the help of polarized photons. The spin-selective photon reflection from the cavity provides us a perfect way to achieve the scheme by adding some simple linear optical elements and conventional photon detectors. A numerical simulation demonstrates that a perfect scheme of the GHZ state and W state generation can be achieved in one step, and high fidelities can be realized when the side leakage and cavity loss are low, which is feasible in the weak coupling regime. Therefore, our scheme might contribute to quantum communication, quantum teleportation, and some other fields in quantum information processing.

One-step generation of Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states of multi solid-state spin qubits

Sheng-li Ma, Fuli Li, Fuli Li

We propose a one-step scheme for the generation of Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states of multi solid-state qubits and the implementation of quantum phase gates in a system consisting of N spatially separated nitrogen-vacancy centers coupled to the whispering-gallery mode (WGM) of a microsphere cavity. The proposed scheme is based on the effective electronic dipole–dipole interaction between electron spins associated with the NV centers, which is mediated by the WGM and applying external driving laser fields. As the spontaneous emission of the excited states of the NV centers is highly suppressed and the cavity mode is only virtually excited, the scheme is insensitive to decoherence.

Conditional generation of the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state of four distant atoms via cavity decay

Xu‐Bo Zou, K. Pahlke, Wolfgang M. Mathis

We propose a scheme to generate a four-particle Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state of distant atoms that are trapped separately in leaky cavities. This scheme uses cavity decay to inject photons into a setup of optical devices that consist of a symmetric series of beam splitters and photon detectors. Photon detection on the output modes of the beam splitters projects the atom-cavity-system state onto the GHZ state. It is briefly pointed out that this scheme can be extended to generate GHZ states of $4m$ atoms.

Generation of entangled photon strings using NV centers in diamond

D. D. Bhaktavatsala Rao, Sen Yang, Jörg Wrachtrup

We present a scheme to generate entangled photons using nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers in diamond. We show how the long-lived nuclear spin in diamond can mediate entanglement between multiple photons, thereby increasing the length of the entangled photon string. With the proposed scheme one could generate both $n$-photon Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and cluster states. We present an experimental scheme realizing the same and estimate the rate of entanglement generation both in the presence and absence of a cavity.
