Abstract

We propose a scheme for the preparation of a spin-qubit Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state and W state by using quantum dots (QDs) in double-sided optical microcavities with the help of polarized photons. The spin-selective photon reflection from the cavity provides us a perfect way to achieve the scheme by adding some simple linear optical elements and conventional photon detectors. A numerical simulation demonstrates that a perfect scheme of the GHZ state and W state generation can be achieved in one step, and high fidelities can be realized when the side leakage and cavity loss are low, which is feasible in the weak coupling regime. Therefore, our scheme might contribute to quantum communication, quantum teleportation, and some other fields in quantum information processing.

Effective preparation of theN-dimension spin Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger state with quantum dots embedded in microcavities

Yi‐Hao Kang, Yan Xia, Pei-Min Lu +1 more

We propose a scheme for preparation of the N-dimension spin Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger state by exploiting quantum dots (QDs) embedded in microcavities. Numerically analysed results show that with the spin-selective photon reflection from the cavity, we can complete the scheme assisted by one polarized photon with high fidelity and 100% successful probability in principle. Furthermore, the set-up is just composed of simple linear optical elements, delay lines and conventional photon detectors, which are feasible with existing experimental technology. Moreover, QDs have numerous admirable features in weak-coupling regime, which are practicable in realistic cavity quantum electrodynamics system shown by previous numerical simulations and experiments. Therefore, our scheme might be realized in near future.

Generation of large scale GHZ states with the interactions of photons and quantum-dot spins

Chun Miao, Shu-Dong Fang, Ping Dong +2 more

Abstract We present a deterministic scheme for generating large scale GHZ states in a cavity-quantum dot system. A singly charged quantum dot is embedded in a double-sided optical microcavity with partially reflective top and bottom mirrors. The GHZ-type Bell spin state can be created and two n -spin GHZ states can be perfectly fused to a 2 n -spin GHZ state with the help of n ancilla single-photon pulses. The implementation of the current scheme only depends on the photon detection and its need not to operate multi-qubit gates and multi-qubit measurements. Discussions about the effect of the cavity loss, side leakage and exciton cavity coupling strength for the fidelity of generated states show that the fidelity can remain high enough by controlling system parameters. So the current scheme is simple and feasible in experiment.

Complete analysis and generation of hyperentangled Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state for photons using quantum-dot spins in optical microcavities

Tie-Jun Wang, Siyu Song, Long, Gui Lu

We propose a scheme for the complete differentiation of 64 three-photon hyperentangled GHZ states in both polarization and spatial-mode degrees of freedoms using the quantum-dot cavity system. The three-photon hyperentangled-GHZ-state-analysis scheme can also be used to generate 3-photon hyperentangled GHZ states. This proposed hyperentangled analysis and generation device can serve as crucial components of the high-capacity, long-distance quantum communication. We use quantum swapping as an example to show the application of this device in quantum communication with polarization and spatial-mode degrees of freedoms. Using numerical calculations, we show that the present scheme may be feasible in strong-coupling regimes with current technologies.

Complete and deterministic analysis for spatial-polarization hyperentangled Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states with quantum-dot cavity systems

Qian Liu, Mei Zhang

Entangled state analysis is one of the basic techniques in quantum information processing. However, it is impossible to fully distinguish the three-photon Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states with only linear optical elements. Here, we propose a deterministic scheme to complete three-photon spatial-polarization hyperentangled GHZ-state analysis (HGSA) by using the giant optical Faraday rotation induced by an excess electron spin in a quantum dot inside a one-sided optical microcavity as a result of cavity quantum electrodynamics. It is divided into two steps. The first step is used to distinguish the eight three-photon GHZ states in the spatial-mode degree of freedom (DOF) without destroying the polarization states. The second step is used to distinguish the eight GHZ states in the polarization DOF. This scheme can be generalized to N-photon spatial-polarization HGSA and has useful applications in quantum communication protocols.

Remote quantum state preparation and transfer with the interactions of photons and quantum-dot spins

Xiaojie Yuan, Ping Dong, Min Wang +2 more

In this paper, we propose a scheme of remote quantum state preparation and transfer that use a double-sided cavity system, in which a singly charged quantum dot is embedded in a double-sided optical microcavity with partially reflective top and bottom mirrors. The implementation of the scheme mainly depends on the interaction between the input single-photon pulse and the spins of electrons in the coupling system. Discussions about the effect of the cavity loss, side leakage and exciton–cavity coupling strength for the fidelity of generated states show that the fidelity can remain high enough by controlling these parameters. Therefore, the current scheme is feasible in the experiment.

Complete deterministic multi-electron Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state analyzer for quantum communication

Hai‐Rui Wei, Bao‐Cang Ren, Mei Zhang +2 more

We present a scheme for the multi-electron Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state analyzer, resorting to an interface between the polarization of a probe photon and the spin of an electron in a quantum dot embedded in a microcavity. All the multi-spin GHZ states can be completely discriminated by using single-photon detectors and linear optical elements. Our scheme has some features. First, it is a complete GHZ-state analyzer for multi-electron spin systems. Second, the initial entangled states remain after being identified and they can be used for a successive task. Third, the electron qubits are static and the photons play a role of a medium for information transfer, which has a good application in quantum repeater in which the electron qubits are used to store the information and the photon qubits are used to transfer the information between others.
