Thermalization of quantum fields from time-reversal invariant evolution equations

Jürgen Berges, J. Cox

We study the time evolution of correlation functions in closed quantum systems for nonequilibrium ensembles of initial conditions. For a scalar quantum field theory we show that generic time-reversal invariant evolutions approach equilibrium at large times. The calculation provides a first principles justification that the large-time behavior of closed macroscopic quantum systems can be effectively described by thermal ensemble averages.

Closed hierarchy of correlations in Markovian open quantum systems

Bojan Žunkovič

We study the Lindblad master equation in the space of operators and provide simple criteria for closeness of the hierarchy of equations for correlations. We separately consider the time evolution of closed and open systems and show that open systems satisfying the closeness conditions are not necessarily of Gaussian type. In addition, we show that dissipation can induce the closeness of the hierarchy of correlations in interacting quantum systems. As an example we study an interacting optomechanical model, the Fermi–Hubbard model, and the Rabi model, all coupled to a fine-tuned Markovian environment and obtain exact analytic expressions for the time evolution of two-point correlations.

TIME EVOLUTION OF A QUANTUM SYSTEM WITH HAMILTONIAN CONSISTING OF TIME-DEPENDENT LINEAR COMBINATION OF SU(l, 1)AND SU(2) GENERATORS AND THE HERMITIAN INVARIANT OPERATOR

LAI YUN-ZHONG, Liang Jiu-Qing, (1)山西大学物理系,太原030006; (2)太原重型机械学院基础部,太原030024

We study the time evolution of a quantum system with Hamiltonian consisting of time-dependent linear combination of SU(1,1) and SU(2) generators. A proper hermitian invariant operator has been found to obtain not only closed formulas for the time evolution of quantum states but also the time evolution operators for both the SU(1, 1) and SU(2) systems. The time evolution operators have been used to investigate the time-dependent two photons and SU(2) squeezing states and squeezing properties of the time-dependent SU(1,1) coherent states.
