Abstract

Narrow linewidth signals of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in the metastable $^{83}\mathrm{Kr}$ have been observed. Various hyperfine transitions in the $4{p}^{5}5s{[3/2]}_{2}$ to $4{p}^{5}5p{[5/2]}_{3}$ manifolds of $^{83}\mathrm{Kr}$ have been identified through the experimentally observed EIT signals. Some unresolved or poorly resolved hyperfine transitions in saturated absorption spectroscopy (SAS) are clearly resolved in the present work. Using the spectral separation of these EIT identified hyperfine transitions, the magnetic hyperfine constant $(A)$ and the electric quadrupole hyperfine constant $(B)$ are determined with improved accuracy for $4{p}^{5}5s{[3/2]}_{2}$ and $4{p}^{5}5p{[5/2]}_{3}$ manifolds.

Determination of the hyperfine coupling constants of the 5D5/2 state of 85Rb atoms by using high signal-to-noise ratio electromagnetically-induced transparency spectra

Yang Guang, Wang Jie, Junmin Wang

We report the hyperfine splitting measurement of the 85Rb 5D5/2 state by electromagnetically induced transparency spectroscopy with high signal-to-noise ratio in the 85Rb 5S1/2-5P3/2-5D5/2 ladder-type system (m 780 nm + 776 nm). The frequency calibration is performed by employing a phase-type electro-optic modulator with a confocal Fabry-Perot cavity. From the measured hyperfine splittings among the manifolds of (F=5), (F=4) and (F=3) of the 85Rb 5D5/2 state, we determine the magnetic dipole hyperfine coupling constant (A= (-2.222 0.019) MHz) and the quadrupole coupling constant (B= (2.664 0.130) MHz) of 5D5/2 state of 85Rb atoms.

Electromagnetically induced absorption in metastable 83Kr atoms

Y. B. Kale, Vibhuti Bhushan Tiwari, Satya Ram Mishra +2 more

We report electromagnetically induced absorption (EIA) resonances of sub-natural linewidth (FWHM) in metastable noble gas 83Kr* atoms using degenerate two level schemes (DTLSs). This is the first observation of EIA effect in a metastable noble gas atoms. Using these spectrally narrow EIA signals obtained corresponding to the closed hyperfine transition from 4p55s[3/2]2 to 4p55p[5/2]3 hyperfine manifolds of 83Kr* atoms, we have measured the Lande's g-factor (gF) for the lower level (F = 13/2) of the closed transition accurately with small applied magnetic fields of few Gauss.

The hyperfine structures of rubidium atom using electromagnetically induced transparency Cấu trúc siêu tinh tế của phân tử Rubidium sử dụng tính trong suốt cảm ứng điện từ

Hien Thi Dieu Nguyen

In this paper, we studied the hyperfine structures of the Rubidium in D states 5D5/2, 7D3/2, 7D5/2 using Electromagnetically Induced Transparency (EIT). In order to improve the EIT signal-to-noise ratio, the laser frequency was stabilized to a Rubidium hyperfine transition while the coupling laser scanned the transition of excited states. We compared the experimental data with the simulation one.

Precision Measurement of the Saturation Intensity in Rubidium at 420 nm

Shivam Sinha, Sumit Achar, Sankar Satheesh +1 more

The $5S_{1/2} \rightarrow 6P_{3/2}$ transition of rubidium at $420$ nm is a promising candidate for a portable warm-vapor all-optical atomic clock. Despite recent precision spectroscopy studies at $420$ nm in Rb, an experimental determination of the saturation intensity of this transition has not yet been reported. The saturation intensity is a fundamental parameter that influences the identification of a potential clock transition frequency in terms of optimizing various intensity-dependent parameters and connected systematics. In this work, we report the first experimental measurement of the saturation intensity of the $420$ nm transition in Rb, obtaining $(23.18 \pm 0.28)$ mW/cm$^2$ for the $^{87}$Rb $F = 2 \rightarrow F' = 3$ transition and $(25.56 \pm 0.37)$ mW/cm$^2$ for the $^{85}$Rb $F = 3 \rightarrow F' = 4$ transition, in excellent agreement with theoretical predictions. We further investigate the temperature dependence of the Doppler-free Lamb-dip amplitude and linewidth over $59.03~\pm~0.37$ - $91.20~\pm~0.90^\circ$C in a $100$ mm commercial vapor cell, identifying around $82.02~\pm~ 0.73^\circ$C as the optimal operating temperature, where the signal-to-noise ratio of the Lamb-dip amplitude with temperature reaches a maximum and the observed Lamb-dip linewidth exhibits a minimum. We also present precise measurements of the magnetic-dipole ($A$) and electric-quadrupole ($B$) hyperfine constants of the $6P_{3/2}$ state for both isotopes, with the measured values being consistent with previously reported values for the hyperfine constants.

Here, we propose a new method of identifying the unknown hyperfine transitions without a wavemeter, by the electromagnetically induced transparency. EIT is a phenomenon of quantum interference between two propagating electromagnetic radiations.

Determining hyperfine transitions with electromagnetically induced transparency and optical pumping

Yi-Chi Lee, Chin‐Chun Tsai, Yung-Yung Chang +2 more

A system is designed to observe the phenomena of electromagnetically induced transparency and optical pumping in cesium D 1 and D 2 lines at room temperature. When a pump laser is frequency-locked on the top of a hyperfine transition and the frequency of the probe laser scans over another hyperfine transition, a spectrum of V-type electromagnetically induced transparency or an optical pumping can be observed depending on whether the two lasers share a common ground state. Therefore, these results can be used to identify the unknown hyperfine transitions of the D 1 line transitions. For educational purposes, this system is helpful for understanding the electromagnetically induced transparency and the optical pumping.
