Abstract

We investigate how to carry out universal quantum computation deterministically with free electrons in decoherence-free subspace by using polarizing beam splitters, charge detectors, and single-spin rotations. Quantum information in our case is encoded in spin degrees of freedom of the electron-pairs which construct a decoherence-free subspace. We design building blocks for two noncommutable single-logic-qubit gates and a logic controlled phase gate, based on which a universal and scalable quantum information processing robust to dephasing is available in a deterministic way.

Universal quantum computation with quantum-dot cellular automata in decoherence-free subspace

Zhenyu Xu, Mang Feng, Wei-Min Zhang

We investigate the possibility to have electron-pairs in decoherence-free subspace (DFS), by means of the quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) and single-spin rotations, to deterministically carry out a universal quantum computation with high-fidelity. We show that our QCA device with electrons tunneling in two dimensions is very suitable for DFS encoding, and argue that our design favors a scalable quantum computation robust to collective dephasing errors.

Universal quantum computation in a decoherence-free subspace for collective relaxation with transmon qubits

Zu-Rong Zhang, Chun-Wang Wu, Chunyan Li +2 more

For the transmon, its dephasing has experimentally been suppressed to an extent that dephasing time is mainly limited by the relaxation process [Schreier et al., Phys. Rev. B 77, 180502(R) (2008)]. In the Hilbert space of two transmons, there exists a two-dimensional subspace immune to the collective relaxation. In this paper, by encoding a logical qubit in this subspace, we demonstrate how to realize universal quantum computation in the decoherence-free subspace. In our scheme, the transmons are coupled through a one-dimensional superconducting transmission-line resonator. With the help of some classical driving fields, two noncommutable single-logical-qubit rotation operators and a controlled-phase gate between two logical qubits are obtained. We always work in the detuning regime, which largely decreases relaxation induced by the Purcell effect.

Quantum computation in decoherence-free subspaces for overcoming bit-flip error in cavity QED

陈月月, 刘呈普, 冯勋立 +3 more

Universal quantum computation overcoming influnce of bit-flip error is realized by suppressing collective decoherence with decoherence-free subspace method. The scheme is based on cavity QED system. A logical bit is encoded by two adjacent atoms trapped in a cavity, and a four-dimensional decoherence-free subspace is constructed to suppress the collective bit reversal error. By adjusting the coupling between the external optical field and cavity, two noncommutative single-qubit operations and a controlled phase gate are implemented in decoherence-free subspace. Universal quantum computation overcoming the collective bit reversal error is realized.

Robust Quantum Computation with Quantum Dots

C. Stephen Hellberg

Quantum computation in solid state quantum dots faces two significant challenges: Decoherence from interactions with the environment and the difficulty of generating local magnetic fields for the single qubit rotations. This paper presents a design of composite qubits to overcome both challenges. Each qubit is encoded in the degenerate ground-state of four (or six) electrons in a system of five quantum dots arranged in a two-dimensional pattern. This decoherence-free subspace is immune to both collective and local decoherence, and resists other forms of decoherence, which must raise the energy. The gate operations for universal computation are simple and physically intuitive, and are controlled by modifying the tunneling barriers between the dots--Control of local magnetic fields is not required. A controlled-phase gate can be implemented in a single pulse.

Universal quantum computation in a neutral-atom decoherence-free subspace

E. Brion, Line Hjortshøj Pedersen, Klaus Mølmer +2 more

In this paper, we propose a way to achieve protected universal computation in a neutral-atom quantum computer subject to collective dephasing. Our proposal relies on the existence of a decoherence-free subspace (DFS), resulting from symmetry properties of the errors. After briefly describing the physical system and the error model considered, we show how to encode information into the DFS and build a complete set of safe universal gates. Finally, we provide numerical simulations for the fidelity of the different gates in the presence of time-dependent phase errors and discuss their performance and practical feasibility.
