Towards Even and Odd Squeezed Number States

Abstract

The time evolution of even and odd squeezed states, as well as that of squeezed number states, has been given in simple, analytic form. This follows experimental work on trapped ions which has demonstrated even and odd coherent states, number states, and squeezed (but not displaced) ground states. We review this situation and consider the extension to even and odd squeezed number states. Questions of uncertainty relations are also discussed.

Hong-Yi Fan, Zhongxi Zhang

We propose and study a new kind of superposition states: even- and odd-displaced squeezed states, defined as and , which are characteristic of possessing even and odd photon numbers respectively. We find that the even-displaced squeezed state may exhibit stronger squeezing than that of the ordinary squeezed state .

Nonclassical Properties of the Even and Odd Intermediate Number Squeezed States

Barnana Roy

The even and odd intermediate number squeezed states are introduced. These states reduce to even (odd) number states and even (odd) squeezed coherent states in different limits. It is shown that these states exhibit nonclassical effects such as sub (super) Poissonian statistics, quadrature squeezing, antibunching for certain ranges of the parameters involved.

Nonclassical statistical properties of fields in squeezed even and squeezed odd coherent states

Kaicheng Zhu, Xiangru Li, Qin Wang

We examine the nonclassical statistical properties of the squeezed even and the squeezed odd coherent states defined by the superposed states involving two squeezed coherent states with phase difference π between their displacement parameters. We demonstrate that the fields in the squeezed even coherent state can exhibit a remarkably enhanced squeezing level and mean photon number in comparison with the input squeezed coherent state. We also give examples of physical processes that lead to such a superposition.
