Abstract

We present a protocol for transfer of an unknown quantum state. The protocol is based on a two-mode cavity interacting dispersively in a sequential manner with three-level atoms in the $\ensuremath{\Lambda}$ configuration. We propose a scheme for quantum networking using an atomic channel. We investigate the effect of cavity decoherence in the entire process. Further, we demonstrate the possibility of an efficient quantum memory for arbitrary superposition of two modes of a cavity containing one photon.

Quantum state transfer, quantum memory, and quantum networks based on multi-photon processes in cavity QED

Moteb M. Alqahtani, Ghayda AlWaleed Abushawarib, B. M. Garraway

Abstract A method is presented for transfer of a quantum state from one atom to another atom. In this method, we consider the interaction of a multi-mode cavity with a multi-level quantum system and adopt the multi-photon resonance theory for preparing an efficient quantum memory and a quantum network. From the use of effective two- and three-level Hamiltonians, the proper values for interaction times, coupling constants, and detunings are predicted. To examine the sensitivity of the quantum state transfer against decoherence processes, we introduce the quantum-jump approach. Proceeding with this approach leads to a description of the system via wavefunctions instead of density operators and provides simple effective differential equations for obtaining analytic expressions of the probability amplitudes.

Transferring a cavity field entangled state in cavity QED

Ye Liu, Guang‐Can Guo

We propose a scheme for transferring an entanglement of zero- and one-photon states from one cavity to another. The scheme, which has 100% success probability, is mainly based on a two-mode cavity dispersively interacting with a three-level atom in the Λ configuration and does not involve Bell-state measurement. This scheme can also be used to teleport an unknown atomic state.

An Alternative Scheme for Transferring Quantum States and Preparing a Quantum Network in Cavity QED

Zhen‐Biao Yang, Wan-Jun Su

An alternative scheme is proposed to transfer quantum states and prepare a quantum network in cavity QED. It is based on the interaction of a two-mode cavity field with a three-level ∨-type atom. In the scheme, the atom-cavity field interaction is resonant, thus the time required to complete the quantum state transfer process is greatly shortened, which is very important in view of decoherence. Moreover, the present scheme does not require one mode of the cavities to be initially prepared in one-photon state, thus it is more experimentally feasible than the previous ones.

Quantum State Transfer for Two Atoms with a Single Resonant Interaction

Tao Wu, NI Zhi-xiang, Liu Ye

We present a scheme for transferring an unknown atomic entangled state with a single resonant interaction. This scheme only requires a single resonant interaction of two atoms with a cavity mode and does not use the cavity mode as the memory. Thus the scheme is very simple and the interaction time is very short, which is important in view of decoherence. Quantum state can be directly transferred from two atoms to another two atoms with a successful probability of 100 percent.

We propose a scheme to transfer a zero-and one photon superposed state from one mode to another of the same bimodal cavity by the resonant interaction of a three-level atom and a bimodal cavity. The scheme, which has a successful probability of 100 percent, does not require Bell-state measurement and performing any operations to reconstruct an initial state.
