Integrable Models Associated to Classical Representations of U_q(\widehat{sl(n)})

Abstract

We describe a representation for $U_q(\widehat{sl(n)})$, when $q$ is not a root of unity, based on the fundamental representation of $sl(n)$. As $U_q(sl(n))$ has a Hopf algebra structure with a non-commutative co-product, we look for a intertwine matrix $R$ that relates two possible definitions of that co-product. We solve cases for $n=2$ and $n=3$, and then we generalize for any $n$. We obtain the hamiltonian associated to such matrix $R$, corresponding to a multi-state chain. As the case for $n=2$ corresponds to the XXZ model with spin $1/2$, for $n>2$ we have the generalization of the XXZ model to $sl(n)$. We show the case for $n=3$ and its solution by Bethe ansatz.

Integrable spin chains associated with slq(n) and slp,q(n)

J. Abad, M Rios

The Hopf structure of the central extension of the U q (sl(n)) algebra is considered. The intertwine matrix induces new integrable chain models. We show the relation of these models and the biparametric spin chain sl p,q (n) models. The cases n=2 are n=3 are discussed, and for n=2 we obtain the model of Dasgupta and Chowdhury (1993). The case n=3 is solved by the nested Bethe ansatz method, and the dependence of the Bethe equations on the second parameter introduced is demonstrated.

On some quantum R matrices associated with representations of Uq(sl(2,C)) when q is a root of unity

M Couture

The author constructs quantum R matrices associated with certain non-cyclic irreducible representations of U q (sl(2,c)) at roots of unity which are parametrized by one continuous parameter. The author finds solutions for the two- and three-dimensional representations via Baxterization. The two-dimensional case corresponds to the free fermion model of Fan and Wu (1970).

The XXZ model with Beraha values

Bo-Yu Hou, Bo-Yuan Hou, Zhong-Qi Ma

The authors study an XXZ model of spin-1/2 chains with the quantum sl(2) symmetry, where they reduce the Hamiltonian equation to a set of coupled linear algebraic equations. When q is a root of unity, some eigenstates of the Hamiltonian coincide with each other, and a new state is obtained through a limit process from their difference. This eigenspace corresponds to a reducible but indecomposable representation (type 1) of the quantum sl(2) enveloping algebra.

Loop symmetry of integrable vertex models at roots of unity

Korff, C, Barry M. McCoy

It has been recently discovered in the context of the six vertex or XXZ model in the fundamental representation that new symmetries arise when the anisotropy parameter $(q+q^{-1})/2$ is evaluated at roots of unity $q^{N}=1$. These new symmetries have been linked to an $U(A^{(1)}_1)$ invariance of the transfer matrix and the corresponding spin-chain Hamiltonian. In this paper these results are generalized for odd primitive roots of unity to all vertex models associated with trigonometric solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation by invoking representation independent methods which only take the algebraic structure of the underlying quantum groups $U_q(\\hat g)$ into account. Here $\\hat g$ is an arbitrary Kac-Moody algebra. Employing the notion of the boost operator it is then found that the Hamiltonian and the transfer matrix of the integrable model are invariant under the action of $U(\\hat{g})$. For the simplest case $\\hat g=A_1^{(1)}$ the discussion is also extended to even primitive roots of unity.

Exact solutions of exactly integrable quantum chains by a matrix product ansatz

Francisco Castilho Alcaraz, Matheus J. Lazo

Most of the exact solutions of quantum one-dimensional Hamiltonians are obtained thanks to the success of the Bethe ansatz on its several formulations. According to this ansatz, the amplitudes of the eigenfunctions of the Hamiltonian are given by a sum of permutations of appropriate plane waves. In this paper, alternatively, we present a matrix product ansatz that asserts that those amplitudes are given in terms of a matrix product. The eigenvalue equation for the Hamiltonian defines the algebraic properties of the matrices defining the amplitudes. The consistency of the commutativity relations among the elements of the algebra implies the exact integrability of the model. The matrix product ansatz we propose allows an unified and simple formulation of several exact integrable Hamiltonians. In order to introduce and illustrate this ansatz we present the exact solutions of several quantum chains with one and two global conservation laws and periodic boundaries such as the XXZ chain, spin-1 Fateev–Zamolodchikov model, Izergin–Korepin model, Sutherland model, t – J model, Hubbard model, etc. Formulation of the matrix product ansatz for quantum chains with open ends is also possible. As an illustration we present the exact solution of an extended XXZ chain with z -magnetic fields at the surface and arbitrary hard-core exclusion among the spins.

Models solvable by Bethe Ansatz 1

P. P. Kulish

Diagonalization of integrable spin chain Hamiltonians by the quantum inverse scattering method gives rise to the connection with representation theory of different (quantum) algebras. Extending the Schur-Weyl duality between sl2 and the symmetric group SN from the case of the isotropic spin 1/2 chain (XXX-model) to a general spin chains related to the Temperley-Lieb algebra TLN(q) one finds a new quantum algebra Uq(n) with the representation ring equivalent to the sl2 one.

We describe a representation for Uq(sl(n)^)U_q(\widehat{sl(n)})Uq(sl(n)), when qqq is not a root of unity, based on the fundamental representation of sl(n)sl(n)sl(n). As Uq(sl(n))U_q(sl(n))Uq(sl(n)) has a Hopf algebra structure with a non-commutative co-product, we look for a intertwine matrix RRR that relates two possible definitions of that co-product. We solve cases for n=2n=2n=2 and n=3n=3n=3, and then we generalize for any nnn. We obtain the hamiltonian associated to such matrix RRR, corresponding to a multi-state chain. As the case for n=2n=2n=2 corresponds to the XXZ model with spin 1/21/21/2, for n>2n>2n>2 we have the generalization of the XXZ model to sl(n)sl(n)sl(n). We show the case for n=3n=3n=3 and its solution by Bethe ansatz.
