Hyperelliptic parametrization of the generalized order parameter of the N=3 chiral Potts model

Abstract

It has been known for some time that the Boltzmann weights of the chiral Potts model can be parametrized in terms of hyperelliptic functions, but as yet no such parametrization has been applied to the partition and correlation functions. Here we show that for N=3 the function $S(t_p)$ that occurs in the recent calculation of the order parameters can be expressed quite simply in terms of such a parametrization.

Functional relations for the order parameters of the chiral Potts model: low-temperature expansions

R. J. Baxter

This is the third in a series of papers in which we set up and discuss the functional relations for the “split rapidity line” correlation function in the N-state chiral Potts model. The order parameters of the model can be obtained from this function. Here we consider the case N=3 and write the equations explicitly in terms of the hyperelliptic functions parametrization. We also present four-term low-temperature series expansions, which we hope will cast light on the analyticity properties needed to solve the relations. The problem remains unsolved, but we hope that this will prove to be a step in the right direction.

Spontaneous magnetization of the integrable chiral Potts model

Helen Au-Yang, Jacques H. H. Perk

We show how Z -invariance in the chiral Potts model provides a strategy to calculate the pair correlation in the general integrable chiral Potts model using only the superintegrable eigenvectors. When the distance between the two spins in the correlation function becomes infinite it becomes the square of the order parameter. In this way, we show that the spontaneous magnetization can be expressed in terms of the inner products of the eigenvectors of the N asymptotically degenerate maximum eigenvalues. Using our previous results on these eigenvectors, we are able to obtain the order parameter as a sum almost identical to the one given by Baxter. This gives the known spontaneous magnetization of the chiral Potts model by an entirely different approach.

Phase diagram of a six-state chiral Potts model

H. Meyer, J C Anglès d'Auriac

We present the two-dimensional phase diagram of an isotropic six-state chiral Potts model with a noncyclic Boltzmann weight matrix. This model has been introduced as being preintegrable in the sense that a very constraining functional relation for the partition function is known. The phase diagram shows itself to be very rich. In one region the model almost decouples, like a (${\mathit{q}}_{\mathit{s}}$,${\mathit{q}}_{\mathit{t}}$) model, in a product of two simpler models; while in another region a mean-field calculation gives good results compared to our Monte Carlo simulations. All the transition lines, as well as their order, are numerically determined. Besides, using the above-mentioned functional relation, an exact form for one of these transition lines is proposed. The low-energy states are also analyzed showing a variety of zero-temperature behavior in the different regions of the phase diagram.

Star-Triangle Relation for a Three Dimensional Model

Bazhanov, V V, R. J. Baxter

The solvable $sl(n)$-chiral Potts model can be interpreted as a three-dimensional lattice model with local interactions. To within a minor modification of the boundary conditions it is an Ising type model on the body centered cubic lattice with two- and three-spin interactions. The corresponding local Boltzmann weights obey a number of simple relations, including a restricted star-triangle relation, which is a modified version of the well-known star-triangle relation appearing in two-dimensional models. We show that these relations lead to remarkable symmetry properties of the Boltzmann weight function of an elementary cube of the lattice, related to spatial symmetry group of the cubic lattice. These symmetry properties allow one to prove the commutativity of the row-to-row transfer matrices, bypassing the tetrahedron relation. The partition function per site for the infinite lattice is calculated exactly.

CHIRAL POTTS MODEL: CORNER TRANSFER MATRICES AND PARAMETRIZATIONS

R. J. Baxter

We consider the star-triangle relation and the form of its solutions. We present some simple parametrizations of the weight functions of the three-state chiral Potts model. This model does not have the “difference property”: we discuss the resulting difficulties in attempting to use the corner transfer matrix method for this model.

Theta-function parametrization and fusion for 3D integrable Boltzmann weights

G von Gehlen, Stanislav Zdislavovich Pakuliak, С. М. Сергеев

We report progress in constructing Boltzmann weights for integrable 3-dimensional lattice spin models. We show that a large class of vertex solutions to the modified tetrahedron equation can be conveniently parameterized in terms of N-th roots of theta-functions on the Jacobian of a compact algebraic curve. Fay's identity guarantees the Fermat relations and the classical equations of motion for the parameters determining the Boltzmann weights. Our parameterization allows to write a simple formula for fused Boltzmann weights R which describe the partition function of an arbitrary open box and which also obey the modified tetrahedron equation. Imposing periodic boundary conditions we observe that the R satisfy the normal tetrahedron equation. The scheme described contains the Zamolodchikov-Baxter-Bazhanov model and the Chessboard model as special cases.
