NEW RESULTS FOR THE DYNAMICAL CRITICAL BEHAVIOR OF THE TWO-DIMENSIONAL ISING MODEL

Abstract

Using the new supercomputer JUMP at the Research Center Jülich, we were able to simulate large lattices (up to L=2·106, a new world record) for long times (up to T=6000 for L=1.5·105). Using this data, we examined the dynamical critical exponent z. The old assumption of z=2 with logarithmic corrections seems very unlikely according to our data, leaving the asymptotic value of z≃2.167.

CRITICAL DYNAMICS OF THE ISING MODEL WITH ISING MACHINE

N. Ito, Makoto Taiji, Masuo Suzuki

The dynamical critical exponent z of he two-dimensional Ising model with sequential-flip heat-bath dynamics is numerically estimated to be 2.2, which agrees with that of Metropolis dynamics. The dedicated machine "m-TIS", designed and constructed by the present authors is used for the simulations.

Dietrich Stauffer, Renate Knecht

From presumed world-record simulations up to 48003 and 1125 and from the Ito algorithm applied to smaller 3D lattices we obtain the dynamical critical exponent z near 2.05 in three dimensions and J/kBTc = 0.11391 in five.

HIGH SPEED ALGORITHMS AND SIMULATIONS OF THE CRITICAL DYNAMICS OF THE ISING MODEL

Hans-Otto Heuer

We review the development of Monte Carlo algorithms for the simulation of the Ising model with local dynamics. The multi lattice coding algorithm for the pure and for the site-disordered Ising model is described in detail. Application of these algorithms on fast vector computers have led to new progress concerning the critical dynamics of the pure Ising model leading to the critical exponent z = 2:05. The importance of disorder for the critical dynamics of the Ising model has been investigated recently. We review the numerical results and compare with theoretical predictions. A crossover scenario is found as for the static behavior with an effective dynamical exponent z = 1:75 fl. 1 Introduction The Ising model is a standard model in statistical physics for the description of a ferromagnet in an extremely simplified manner. It is assumed that quantum spin operators may be replaced by classical spins S i = \\Sigma 1 which are oriented parallel or antiparallel to a magnetic filed H: H...

DYNAMICAL CRITICAL BEHAVIOR OF THE FOUR-DIMENSIONAL ISING MODEL

Joan Adler, Dietrich Stauffer

Monte Carlo simulations of the Glauber dynamics in the four-dimensional Ising model with up to 3124 spins agree with the theoretically expected logarithmic corrections to mean field behavior, if we assume J/kBTc = 0.14970, consistent with some series analysis.

LARGE SCALE SIMULATIONS OF THE KINETIC ISING MODEL

Christian Münkel

We present Monte Carlo simulation results for the dynamical critical exponent z of the two- and three-dimensional kinetic Ising model. The z-values were calculated from the magnetization relaxation from an ordered state into the equilibrium state at Tc for very large systems with up to (169984)2 and (3072)3 spins. To our knowledge, these are the largest Ising-systems simulated todate. We also report the successful simulation of very large lattices on a massively parallel MIMD computer with high speedups of approximately 1000 and an efficiency of about 0.93.

DYNAMIC CRITICAL EXPONENTS OF THE ISING MODEL WITH MULTISPIN INTERACTIONS

César Simões, J. R. Drugowich de Felício

We revisit the short-time dynamics of 2D Ising model with three spin interactions in one direction and estimate the critical exponents z, θ, β and ν. Taking properly into account the symmetry of the Hamiltonian, we obtain results completely different from those obtained by Wang et al.10 For the dynamic exponent z our result coincides with that of the 4-state Potts model in two dimensions. In addition, results for the static exponents ν and β agree with previous estimates obtained from finite size scaling combined with conformal invariance. Finally, for the new dynamic exponent θ we find a negative and close to zero value, a result also expected for the 4-state Potts model according to Okano et al.
