DYNAMIC CRITICAL EXPONENTS OF THE ISING MODEL WITH MULTISPIN INTERACTIONS

Abstract

We revisit the short-time dynamics of 2D Ising model with three spin interactions in one direction and estimate the critical exponents z, θ, β and ν. Taking properly into account the symmetry of the Hamiltonian, we obtain results completely different from those obtained by Wang et al.10 For the dynamic exponent z our result coincides with that of the 4-state Potts model in two dimensions. In addition, results for the static exponents ν and β agree with previous estimates obtained from finite size scaling combined with conformal invariance. Finally, for the new dynamic exponent θ we find a negative and close to zero value, a result also expected for the 4-state Potts model according to Okano et al.

SHORT-TIME CRITICAL DYNAMICS OF MULTISPIN INTERACTION ISING MODEL IN TWO DIMENSIONS

L. WANG, J. B. Zhang, H. P. Ying +1 more

We investigated the short-time dynamics of a multispin model in two dimensions. A dynamical Monte Carlo simulation which avoids the critical slowing down is performed at critical temperature and the short-time dynamic scaling behavior is found. By using the universal power-law scaling features, the critical exponents θ, z and 2β/ν are estimated in our calculations.

SHORT-TIME DYNAMIC EXPONENTS OF AN ISING MODEL WITH COMPETING INTERACTIONS

Nelson A. Alves, J. R. Drugowich de Felício

In this work the two-dimensional Ising model with nearest- and next-nearest-neighbor interactions is revisited. We obtain the dynamic critical exponents z and θ from short-time Monte Carlo simulations. The dynamic critical exponent z is obtained from the time behavior of the ratio [Formula: see text], whereas the non-universal exponent θ is estimated from the time correlation of the order parameter <M(0)M(t)> ~ tθ, where M(t) is the order parameter at instant t, d is the dimension of the system and <(⋯)> is the average of the quantity (⋯) over different samples. We also obtain the static critical exponents β and ν by investigating the time behavior of the magnetization.

Short-time critical dynamics of the Baxter-Wu model

Everaldo Arashiro, J. R. Drugowich de Felício

We study the early time behavior of the Baxter-Wu model, an Ising model with three-spin interactions on a triangular lattice. Our estimates for the dynamic exponent z are compatible with results recently obtained for two models which belong to the same universality class of the Baxter-Wu model: the two-dimensional four-state Potts model and the Ising model with three-spin interactions in one direction. However, our estimates for the dynamic exponent theta of the Baxter-Wu model are completely different from the values obtained for those models. This discrepancy could be related to the absence of a marginal operator in the Baxter-Wu model.

MONTE CARLO STUDIES OF DYNAMIC CRITICAL PHENOMENA

D. P. Landau, Simon Y. Tang, Stephan Wansleben

We review the current state of knowledge of dynamic critical phenomena in simple magnetic models and present high statistics Monte Carlo data for critical slowing down in Ising and Potts models in two and three dimensions. By fitting the relaxation functions to multi-exponential decays at the critical temperature and applying finite size scaling we are able to extract very accurate estimates for the dynamical critical exponent z. Our results are compared with previous numerical estimates and with the predictions of renormalization group theory.

Dynamic Critical Exponents of Three-Dimensional Ising Models and Two-Dimensional Three-States Potts Models

Yohsuke Murase, Nobuyasu Ito

Values of dynamic critical exponents are numerically estimated for various models with the nonequilibrium relaxation method to test the dynamic universality hypothesis. The dynamics used here are single-spin update with Metropolis-type transition probabities. The estimated values of nonequilibrium relaxation exponent of magnetization λ m (=β/ z ν) of Ising models on bcc and fcc lattices are estimated to be 0.251(3) and 0.252(3), respectively, which are consistent with the value of the model on simple-cubic lattice, 0.250(2). The dynamic critical exponents of three-states Potts models on square, honeycomb and triangular lattices are also estimated to be 2.193(5), 2.198(4), and 2.199(3), respectively. They are consistent within the error bars. It is also confirmed that Ising models with regularly modulated coupling constants on square lattice have the same dynamic critical exponents with the uniformly ferromagnetic Ising model.

Short-time critical dynamics for the transverse Ising model

M. Santos

We have analyzed the short-time critical behavior for the one-dimensional quantum transverse Ising model through Monte Carlo simulations at zero temperature. We used the scaling relation for the dynamics at the early time stages in order to obtain the static critical exponents (beta,nu) and the dynamical critical exponent z for this model. While the values found for the static exponents are in agreement with the exact ones, here, the dynamical critical exponent is found for a quantum spin model.
