Abstract

This is a response to the comment by J. Lidmar on our work in Phys. Rev. Lett. 87, 197003 (2001), cond-mat/0105622. We show explicitly that, contrary to the statements in the comment, our scaling analysis correctly reproduces the Josephson scaling relation and other known theoretical results, and explains the surprising results of dynamic Monte Carlo simulations in 3D for the vortex loop model. Our explanation, being based on identifying the correct relationship between real and Monte Carlo time, is not relevant for static Monte Carlo simulations, whose results do not need correction.

Comment on “Critical Dynamics of a Vortex-Loop Model for the Superconducting Transition”

Jack Lidmar

Recently, Aji and Goldenfeldt [Phys. Rev. Lett. 87, 197003 (2001), cond-mat/0105622] put forward an explanation for the value of the dynamic critical exponent z observed in certain Monte Carlo simulations of the superconducting phase transition in zero magnetic field. In this Comment, we point out that their analysis is based on incorrect assumptions regarding the scaling dimension of the vortex density.

Reply to ‘‘Comment on ‘Monte Carlo studies of the quantumXYmodel in two dimensions’ ’’

Eugene Loh, Douglas J. Scalapino, Paul Michael Grant

We agree that our simulations of the two-dimensional quantum XY model differ from those of De Raedt and Lagendijk and argure that our results---a finite specific-heat peak and a conclusively nonzero vortex density at zero temperature---are the correct ones, agreeing with other work on this model.

We reply to the comment of Marinari and Parisi [cond-mat/0002457 v2] on our paper [Phys. Rev. Lett. 83, 5126 (1999) and cond-mat/9906323]. We show that the data in the comment are affected by strong finite-size corrections. Therefore the original conclusion of our paper still stands.

Comment on ``Generalized Dynamic Scaling for Critical Relaxation" [Phys. Rev. Lett. 77, 679 (1996), cond-mat/9607013]

Uwe Ritschel, Peter Czerner

We point out that in nonequilibrium relaxational processes the magnetic field of the initial state (instead of the initial magnetization) has to be considered as the additional scaling field (related to the initial state). Taking this into account the interpretation of the scaling behavior observed in the paper by Zheng becomes more straightforward.

Hidetsugu Kitatani, A. Sinada

In response to the comment made by Dr. Shirakura {\it et al} (cond-mat/0011235), we explain that their scaling forms of the order parameter distribution are inadequate. We then present an appropriate scaling form of the order parameter distribution, which gives a good scaling plot of the order parameter distribution itself and also gives consistent results with our pevious results[1].
