Abstract

O(N)-modellek kontinuum limesz konstrukciójában megadtuk a rácskorrekciók eltűnésének rácsállandó-függését. O(3)-modellbeli ''hadronikus'' struktúra-függvényre kis Bjorken-x-re egzakt alakot vezettünk le. 2 Szimmetriastruktúrák és Calogero modellek Megadtuk a WZNW-modellek Poisson-Lie szimmetriáit generáló momentum-leképzést, a dinamikai Yang-Baxter egyenlet általánositását, a Calogero modell inekvivalens kvantálásait. 4.Kvantumgrupoidok 2-es mélységű algebrabővitéseket jellemeztünk bialgebroidokkal, melyek balanszirozott esetben a Galois-csoport analógjai. Bevezettük a Hopf algebroidok fogalmát, tanulmányoztuk szerepüket hasadt algebra-bővitésekben, Hopf-Galois kiterjesztésekben és nem-kommutativ geometrában. | 1. 2d integrable models Finite volume spectra are given using thermal Bethe ansatz and integral equations. The decay form of lattice artifacts is established in the continuum limit construction of O(N)-models. The exact small (Bjorken) x behaviour of the 'hadronic' structure function in the O(3)-model was derived. 2.Symmetry structures and Calogero models The momentum map, the generator of Poisson-Lie symmetries in WZNW models was given, the dynamical Yang-Baxter equation was generalized. Inequivalent quantizations of Calogero model were given. Dynamical r-matrix construction of spin Calogero model is shown to be the Hamiltonian reduction of free motion on a Lie group. Hamiltonian reduction of free motion on a symmetric Riemann space with negative curvature leads to spin Calogero models. 3.Spin chains and lattice theories The energy current in the XX model and the aperiodic perturbation of couplings in the Heisenberg chain increase the entanglement entropy. The zero-entropy-density conjecture is sharp for translation-invariant states of spin chains. The continuum limit of the 4d Ising model is found to be trivial by MC methods but the convergence is very slow. 4. Quantum groupoids Depth 2 algebra extensions were characterized by bialgebroids, the analogues of Galois groups in the balanced case. The notion of Hopf algebroids was introduced. Their role was determined in cleft algebra extensions, in Hopf-Galois extensions, in non-commutative geometry.

Nemintegrálható modellek: szisztematikus elméleti keretet adtunk nemintegrálható modellek effektív potenciáljának és szoliton spektrumának kvalitatív leírására. Ezen felül sikerült az ún. form faktor perturbációszámítást magasabb rendekre kiterjeszteni, a véges térfogatú FF formalizmus segítségével. Véges térfogatú form faktorok: a formalizmust kiterjesztettük általános (nemdiagonális szórású) integrálható modellekre. Leírtuk az exponenciális korrekciók vezető tagját, és ennek hatását a mátrix elemek numerikus meghatározásában. Peremes elméletekben a lokális operátorok várható értékének helyfüggésére szisztematikus kiszámítási módot adtunk meg, a véges térfogatú form faktor módszert használva. Peremes form faktorok: sikerült a peremes sine-Gordon modell lélegző form faktorait meghatározni, és numerikusan tesztelni. Véges hőmérsékletű korrelátorok: megalkottuk a tervezett szisztematikus kifejtést, ami a projekt fő célja volt és teljes mértékben ellenőriztük, részben analitikus, részben numerikus módszerek segítségével. Peremes entrópia: bár a tervezettől eltérő módon, de hatékony módszert adtunk a peremes entrópia függvény kiszámítására, sőt sikerült azt gerjesztett állapotokban is meghatározni. OSp(2|2) Gross-Neveu modellre TBA módszer segítségével sikerült igazolni a Leclair-Bassi S mátrix helyességét, valamint dualitást kimutatni az SO(4) modellel. Using the finite volume FF formalism, we extended the form factor perturbation theory to higher orders. Finite volume form factors: the formalism has been extended to general integrable models with nondiagonal scattering. We described the leading exponential corrections, and demonstrated its effect on numerical determination of matrix elements. We gave a systematic method to determine the position dependence of the expectation value of local operators using the finite volume form factor formalism. Boundary form factors: we determined the breather form factors in the boundary sine-Gordon modell, and numerically verified the bootstrap predictions. Thermal correlators: we constructed the systematic expansion, that was the central aim of the project, and verified it using partly numerical, partly analytic methods. Boundary entropy: following a line different from the original plan, we gave an effective method for its evaluation, in addition, this method also works for the excited states. Using the TBA method, the Leclair-Bassi S matrix conjecture for the OSp(2|2) Gross-Neveu model was verified, and a duality with the SO(4) model found. Erősen korrelált alacsony dimenziós rendszerek elméleti vizsgálata = Theoretical study of strongly correlated low-dimensional systems

Jenő Sólyom, Gábor Fáth, Örs Legeza +1 more

| We have studied the properties of low-dimensional strongly correlated systems analytically, using the renormalization group approach and the Bethe hypothesis as well as numerically with the density-matrix renormalization-group algorithm. We have shown that the quantum information entropy is a good quantity to study when the location of a quantum critical point or the properties of the phases have to be determined. The entropy of neighboring sites exhibits a jump or discontinuity at the transition, while oscillations in the length dependence of the entropy of finite segments indicate soft modes or the inhomogeneity of the phase. We have constructed a general model to describe the neutral-ionic transition in charge-transfer salts, and pointed out that the transition is either of first order or takes place in two steps, with an intermediate dimerized phase. We have studied the metal-insulator transition in the SU(n) symmetric generalization of the Hubbard model. We have shown that this system behaves similarly to the half-filled usual Hubbard chain if the band is 1/n-filled. The half-filled models behave differently, they are dimerized for n>2 due to the coupling of the charge and spin modes, which all become gapped. For generic fillings, Luttinger liquid behavior is found. When such chains are coupled together, Luttinger liquid behavior is still possible for appropriate choices of the couplings, but such a state cannot exist if the chains are Hubbard like.

= Modern algebraic and geometric techniques in theoretical physics II.

P. Bántay, Péter Lévay

Differenciálgeometriai módszerekkel vizsgáltuk a kvantum-összefonódottság kérdését. Új invariánst vezettünk be a három qubit összefonódottságra, amely a rendszernek a redukált sűrűségoperátorok segítségével nem tárgyalható nem lokális tulajdonságait jellemzi. Az összefonódottság invariáns mértékeire egységes leírást javasoltunk, és tisztáztuk a 4-qubit összefonódottságot jellemző invariánsok geometriai jelentését. Részletesen vizsgáltuk a húrelmélet négy dimenziós szuperszimmetrikus kompaktifikációban fellépő fekete lyuk megoldások entrópiájának és modulus stabilizációjának kvantum-információelméleti leírását. Tárgyaltuk a négy dimenziós szupergravitációs elmélet fekete lyuk megoldásait 7-qubit állapotok segítségével, rámutatva a Fano-síkkal, illetve a Hamming-kóddal való kapcsolatra. Kidolgoztuk a súlyozott permutációs hatások elméletét a konform térelméletek egyszerű-áram szimmetriáinak vizsgálatára. | We investigated the problem of quantum entanglement using differential geometric methods. We introduced a new invariant of 3-qubit entanglement which describes nonlocal properties that cannot be described using reduced density matrices, clarified the geometric meaning of 4-qubit invariants, and proposed a unified description of entanglement measures based on Plücker embeddings. We investigated the quantum information theoretic description of black hole entropy and modulus stabilization in four dimensional supersymmetric compactifications of String Theory. We described black hole solutions of four dimensional N=8 SUGRA in terms of 7-qubit states, and pointed out the relation to the Fano plane and the Hamming code. We introduced the notion of weighted permutation actions, and applied it to the study of simple currents in CFT. We worked out the character theory of 2D groups, and described its relation to CFT. We investigated the orbifold transform, an important ingredient of the theory of permutation orbifolds, and described its main properties. We developed a new approach to the theory of vector-valued modular forms, and indicated its applications in CFT. We derived a hypergeometric ODE for the fundamental matrix, and proved the spectral condition restricting its coefficients. We gave a completely explicit inversion formula for computing a vector-valued modular form from its singular behavior.

Kvantumos fázisátalakulások alacsony dimenziós mágneses és fermionrendszerekben = Quantum phase transitions in low-dimensional magnetic and fermionic systems

Jenő Sólyom, Gergely Barcza, K. Buchta +4 more

A magas spinű rendszerekben újfajta, egzotikus szuperfolyékony fázisok megjelenésére mutattunk rá mágnesesen polarizáció jelenlétében, és javaslatot tettünk annak kísérleti megfigyelhetőségére ultrahideg atomok rendszerében. A vezetési elektronok közötti korrelációkat is tartalmazó periodikus Anderson-Hubbard-modell esetén a Hubbard-fizika (Mott-átalakulás) és a Kondo-fizika (nehézfermionos viselkedés) versengésében határoztuk meg a kölcsönhatások szerepét. A Bethe-feltevéssel egzaktul megoldható rendszerekre analitikusan levezettük a szabadenergiához adódó vezető korrekciókat. | The physics of low-dimensional magnetic and fermionic systems is in the forefront of research in solid state physics. During the course of this project, we studied the physical properties of such systems both analytically and numerically, investing a lot of effort in the algorithmic development of the density-matrix renormalization-group (DMRG) method, using the concepts of quantum information theory. This allowed us, by combining DMRG with Wilson's numerical RG procedure, to extend the method to impurity problems. Following our research plan, we determined the phase diagram of various models, such as spin ladders, generalized Hubbard models and SU(n) symmetric models, and studied the quantum phase transitions in these systems. We have pointed out the possibility of exotic superfluid phases in magnetically polarized high-spin systems, and proposed experiments for their observation in ultracold atomic gases. We have studied the competition of Hubbard physics (Mott transition) and Kondo physics (heavy-fermion behavior) in extended periodic Anderson-Hubbard models, where correlations between conduction electrons and the interaction between conduction and localized electrons are taken into account. We have also determined the leading corrections to the free energy of exactly integrable systems.

Zérus hőmérsékletű csapdázott atomokra vizsgáltuk a részecskék kollektív gerjesztéseinek spektrumát a hidrodinamikai közelítésben. Numerikus eljárást adtunk tetszőleges kollektív gerjesztés meghatározására, amennyiben a gáz állapotegyenlete valamilyen mikroszkopikus modellből ismert. A módszerrel a hidrodinamikai közelítés módusai numerikusan egzaktul számolhatók. Meghatároztuk a csapdázott szuperfolyékony gáz kollektív gerjesztéseinek spektrumát a BCS határesettől a BEC határesetig a Feshbach-rezonancia tartományán is keresztülhaladva a lokális sűrűség modell alapján. Csapdázott, feles spinű rendszerek esetén a szuperfolyékony rendszer lokális sűrűség közelítését továbbfejlesztettük a sűrűség deriváltjait tartalmazó tagok kiszámításával és a bővített egyenletek megoldásával. A fellépő teljes elliptikus integrálok kezelésére kidolgozott analitikus és numerikus módszereink segített a Rashba-billiárdok állapotsűrűségének és szintstatisztikájának a vizsgálatában. | In the one open-shell model for fermions we have calculated both analytically and numerically the structure of the ground state. If s denotes the spin of the fermions we have found that the ground state consists of clusters of (2s+1) particles at particles numbers of integer multiples of (2s+1). At zero temperature we have investigated the spectra of collective excitations using hydrodynamical approach to the problem. We gave a numerical method for determining arbitrary excitations, provided the equation of state of the atom-gas in question is known from some microscopic model. By the method the modes in the hydrodynamical approach can be calculated in a numerically exact way. We have calculated the collective excitations of a trapped superfluid Fermi gas in the BCS-BEC transition through the Feshbach resonance using the mean-field BCS model. We have improved the local density approximation for trapped fermions with spin one-half by including the gradient corrections in the self-consistent equations for the gap and the density. The method how we have treated the complete elliptic integrals in the previous problem helped us to calculate the density of states up to third order corrections and unfold the spectra for the nearest neighbor level-spacing distribution of Rashba-billiards.

Rezonátoros kvantumelektrodinamika: atomoktól a soktestrendszerekig = Cavity quantum electrodynamics of systems from few atoms to controlled ensembles

P. Domokos, János K. Asbóth, A. Gábris +3 more

Munkánk elvezetett a rezonátoros kvantumelektrodinamika alapmodelljének több irányú kiterjesztéséhez, és más aktív kutatási területhez kapcsolásához. Az erős atom-fény csatolást bevezettük a Bose-Einstein kondenzátumok fizikájába. Először átlagtérelmélettel és lineáris zajanalízissel felderítettük a csatolt anyag-, és fényhullámok hibrid rendszerét. Kifejlesztettünk effektív modelleket, amelyek számot adnak a kvantumstatisztikai tulajdonságokról, sőt, még dinamikai jelenségekről is. A térbeli önszerveződés nemegyensúlyi fázisátalakítását elemeztük részletesen. At ETH csoportjában végzett kísérletek igazolták néhány jóslatunkat. A szórási megközelítés sikeresnek bizonyult szabad térben megfigyelhető, kollektív atomi jelenségek feltárásában is. Rev. Lett. van. 7 meghívott konferenciaelőadást tartottunk. | This project has led to the extension of the basic cavity QED model in various directions, connecting it to other very active research fields. First of all, the strong atom-field coupling has been incorporated to the physics of Bose-Einstein condensates. The composite, hybrid system of coupled matter and light waves was explored, first, by mean field theory and linearized fluctuation analysis. We developed effective models accounting for quantum statistical features, too, even for dynamical effects. The non-equilibrium phase transition of spatial self-organization was analysed in detail. Experimental observations in the ETH group verified some of our predictions. We established a link between cavity QED and the standard opto-mechanical model. This latter is a hot topic with the promise of observing quantum effects in the kinematics of massive, mesoscopic mirrors. We described them in a uniform framework, as being the two extremes of the same scattering model. This scattering approach proved to be useful also in studying collective atomic effects in free space. We went beyond the standard picture of optical lattices: we found corrections to the optical dipole potential due to back-action on the field and showed that many-body excitations in the form of density waves can be excited in an optical lattice. We published altogether 21 papers, among which there are 6 Phys.Rev. Letters. We presented 7 invited conference talks.

When such chains are coupled together, Luttinger liquid behavior is still possible for appropriate choices of the couplings, but such a state cannot exist if the chains are Hubbard like.
