Abstract

Superdense coding plays an important role in quantum information and can be performed with trapped ions. By confining the ions in a linear trap or a trap-cavity setup, we propose schemes to implement a reliable superdense coding by means of bichromatic radiation method. Experimental feasibility and reliability for achieving our schemes is discussed in detail.

Quantum computing in cavity QED with cold trapped ions by bichromatic radiation

Mang Feng

In the system with ions confined both in a linear trap and in a high-$Q$ single mode cavity, we present a simple quantum computing scheme by means of lasers and quantized cavity field, based on a previous proposal with bichromatic radiation [Phys. Rev. Lett. $82,$ 1971 (1999)]. The controlled-NOT gate operation can be performed by only three operations and it is independent of motional states of ions. Experimental feasibility for achieving our scheme is discussed.

A quantum dense coding implementation in an ion trap

Chang-Ning Pan, Mao-Fa Fang

This paper reports that a quantum dense coding can be implemented with ions confined in a linear trap and interacting with laser beams. The scheme is insensitive to the interaction between the quantum channel and the environment. The Bell-state measurement is not involved and the probability of success in our scheme is 1.0.

Quantum superdense coding via cavity-assisted interactions

Pan Guo-Zhu, Yang Ming, Cao Zhuo-Liang

Quantum superdense coding (QSC) is an example of how entanglement can be used to minimize the number of carriers of classical information. This paper proposes two schemes for implementing QSC by means of cavity assisted interactions with single-photon pulses. The schemes are insensitive to the cavity decay and the thermal field, thus it might be realizable based on the current cavity QED techniques.

Cluster states prepared by using hot trapped ions

Rong‐Can Yang, Hongcai Li, Lin Xiu +1 more

We propose a scheme for the preparation of one-dimensional and two-dimensional cluster states by using hot trapped ions. The scheme is based on the interaction between two ions and bichromatic radiation. The vibrational mode in our protocol is only virtually excited so that the system is insensitive to the thermal field. In addition, we only use two levels of ions as qubits and the successful probability may achieve 100%.

Efficient Scheme for Dense Coding in Cavity QED and Ion Trap Systems

Zheng Shi-Biao

We propose a scheme for realizing dense coding in cavity QED. The scheme is based on the resonant interaction of two atoms with a cavity mode. The scheme may be realizable with presently available techniques in the microwave cavity QED setup. The idea can also be generalized to the ion trap system.
