Abstract

The critical behaviors of a mixed spin-1/2 and spin-sB Ising system with a transverse crystal field are studiedby use of the effective-field theory with correlations. The effect of the transverse crystal field on transition temperaturesis investigated numerically for the honeycomb (z = 3) and square (z = 4) lattices. The results show that there is notricritical point for the system.

Tricritical Behaviour on the Mixed Transverse Ising Spin System with a Crystal Field

Shuaishuai Yan, C. Z. Yang

The tricritical points on the nearest neighbour interaction mixed spin-½ and spin-1 transverse Ising system with a crystal field are investigated within the framework of the effective field theory (EFT) with correlations. Particular emphasis is given to the square lattice for which phase diagrams are obtained. If the transverse field varies in certain ranges, we find that tricritical points are obtained for the present system. The effect of the transverse field on the behaviour of the tricritical points is discussed in this paper.

Phase Diagrams of the Transverse Ising Model with Anisotropic Crystal-Field

Wei Hua Guo

The spin 3/2 transverse Ising model with anisotropic crystal field on honeycomb lattice (z=3) has been studied by using the effective field theory with correlations. The general expressions for evaluating the second order phase transition temperatures are obtained. The results show that both the transverse field and crystal field have important effects on the phase diagram of the Ising system. The transition temperatures do not always fall to zero when Ω/|J|0 457. They approach a constant value 0 525 for large negative D(D→-∞) without transverse field (Ω=0). On the other hand, it is shown that all phase transformations are second order.

A theoretical study of a spin-3/2 Ising model in a longitudinal random field with crystal field is studiedby using of the effective-field theory with correlations. The phase diagrams and the behavior of the tricritical point areinvestigated numerically for the honeycomb lattice when the randorm field is bimodal. In particular, the specific heatand the internal energy are examined in detail for the system with a crystal-field constant in the critical region wherethe ground-state configuration may change from the spin-3/2 state to the spin-1/2 state. We find many interestingphenomena in the system.

Effect of a crystal field on phase transitions in a spin-1 transverse Ising model

Within an effective-field approximation, general expressions for evaluating the second-order phase-transition line and tricritical point of the spin-1 transverse Ising model with the presence of a crystal field are obtained with the Honmura-Kaneyoshi differential-operator technique. The phase diagrams and the behavior of the tricritical point are investigated numerically for the honeycomb lattice.
