Abstract

The critical behaviors of a mixed spin- and spin- s B Ising system with a transverse crystal field are studied by use of the effective-field theory with correlations. The effect of the transverse crystal field on transition temperatures is investigated numerically for the honeycomb ( z = 3) and square ( z = 4) lattices. The results show that there is no tricritical point for the system.

Tricritical Behaviour on the Mixed Transverse Ising Spin System with a Crystal Field

Shuaishuai Yan, C. Z. Yang

The tricritical points on the nearest neighbour interaction mixed spin-½ and spin-1 transverse Ising system with a crystal field are investigated within the framework of the effective field theory (EFT) with correlations. Particular emphasis is given to the square lattice for which phase diagrams are obtained. If the transverse field varies in certain ranges, we find that tricritical points are obtained for the present system. The effect of the transverse field on the behaviour of the tricritical points is discussed in this paper.

Effect of a crystal field on phase transitions in a spin-1 transverse Ising model

Xuefan Jiang, Jialiang Li, Jialin Zhong +1 more

Within an effective-field approximation, general expressions for evaluating the second-order phase-transition line and tricritical point of the spin-1 transverse Ising model with the presence of a crystal field are obtained with the Honmura-Kaneyoshi differential-operator technique. The phase diagrams and the behavior of the tricritical point are investigated numerically for the honeycomb lattice.

Phase Diagram and Tricritical Behavior of a Spin-2 Transverse Ising Model in a Random Field

Yaqiu Liang, Guozhu Wei, Song Li-Li +2 more

The phase diagrams of a spin-2 transverse Ising model with a random field on honeycomb, square, and simple-cubic lattices, respectively, are investigated within the framework of an effective-field theory with correlations. We find the behavior of the tricritical point and the reentrant phenomenon for the system with any coordination number z , when the applied random field is bimodal. The behavior of the tricritical point is also examined as a function of applied transverse field. The reentrant phenomenon comes from the competition between the transverse field and the random field.

Curie Temperatures and Tricritical Points in Mixed Ising Ferromagnetic Systems

T. Kaneyoshi

The critical behavior of a mixed ferromagnetic Ising spin system consisting of spin\(-\tfrac{1}{2}\) and spin-1 with a crystal-field interaction is investigated by the use of the effective-field theory with correlations. The general expressions for evaluating the Curie temperature and the tricritical point are obtained. We find that the tricritical point exists in the system with Z >3, where Z is the coordination number.

Phase Diagrams of the Transverse Ising Model with Anisotropic Crystal-Field

Wei Hua Guo

The spin 3/2 transverse Ising model with anisotropic crystal field on honeycomb lattice (z=3) has been studied by using the effective field theory with correlations. The general expressions for evaluating the second order phase transition temperatures are obtained. The results show that both the transverse field and crystal field have important effects on the phase diagram of the Ising system. The transition temperatures do not always fall to zero when Ω/|J|0 457. They approach a constant value 0 525 for large negative D(D→-∞) without transverse field (Ω=0). On the other hand, it is shown that all phase transformations are second order.
