Abstract

In this paper we consider a new way of constructing the parity check matrix for the code with low-density parity-check (LDPC). LDPC code decoding algorithms are investigated and the algorithm for developing the cascade code LDPC-based is given.

New methods of error correction in quantum cryptography using low-density parity-check codes

Dmitry Anatolevich Kronberg

Now the active junction of vendors of telecommunication equipment of the backbone fiber optic networks on use the low-density parity check (LDPC) codes for correction of errors in communication links is watched. This tendency is connected to that LDPC codes possess the best noise immunity on comparing with all noiseproof codes used earlier in practice (Read Solomon, BCH, block turbocodes). For LDPC decoding in satellite communication systems broad application was received by algorithm of iterative believe propagation and its different modifications. However, the LDPC codes in case of implementation of decoders at speeds of 10, 40 and 100 Gbit\s leads use of these algorithms of decoding to the significant increase in resource intensity, or decoding time. The modern programmable logic devices of the maximum integration scale can''t provide required resource intensity for implementation of decoders in real time. In article the modified algorithm of decoding LDPC codes, allowing considerably to reduce resource intensity of developed decoders is offered.

IMPROVED MIN-SUM DECODING ALGORITHM FOR IRREGULAR LDPC CODES

Д. Ижокина +3 more

We extended an analytical approach to determining the optimal post-processing function for the minimum operation in the MIN-SUM algorithm, previously obtained for conventional low density parity check codes (LDPC codes), to irregular LDPC codes. The optimal post-processing expression for the non-standard case varies from one control node to another, as well as from one iteration to the next. For practical use, it is necessary to approximate this optimal function. Unlike the usual case where one could use a unique post-processing function throughout the entire decoding process without sacrificing bit code performance, it is critical for irregular codes to distinguish post-processing from one iteration to the next in order to achieve good performance. Using this approach, we found that the quality of bit errors from the trust algorithm corresponds to an improvement of 1 level compared to the MIN-SUM algorithm without post-processing. First, we provide an overview and analytical framework for optimal post-processing. Then, we present the optimal post-processing function for irregular codes and discuss possible simplifications. Finally, we show the simulation results and the benefits of the approximation

Low-density parity-check codes

Sarah J. Johnson

Introduction In this chapter we introduce low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes, a class of error correction codes proposed by Gallager in his 1962 PhD thesis 12 years after error correction codes were first introduced by Hamming (published in 1950). Both Hamming codes and LDPC codes are block codes: the messages are broken up into blocks to be encoded at the transmitter and similarly decoded as separate blocks at the receiver. While Hamming codes are short and very structured with a known, fixed, error correction ability, LDPC codes are the opposite, usually long and often constructed pseudo-randomly with only a probabilistic notion of their expected error correction performance. The chapter begins by presenting parity bits as a means to detect and, when more than one is employed, to correct errors in digital data. Block error correction codes are described as a linear combination of parity-check equations and thus defined by their parity-check matrix representation. The graphical representation of codes by Tanner graphs is presented and the necessary graph theoretic concepts introduced. In Section 2.4 iterative decoding algorithms are introduced using a hard decision algorithm (bit flipping), so that the topic is developed first without reference to probability theory. Subsequently the sum–product decoding algorithm is presented. This chapter serves as a self-contained introduction to LDPC codes and their decoding. It is intended that the material presented here will enable the reader to implement LDPC encoders and iterative decoders.
