No physical pentagon: an interface-relative obstruction to Racah–Regge dynamics in a finite relational record model

Abstract

Discrete approaches to quantum geometry take the 6j symbol as a dynamical object: in the Ponzano-Regge state sum the 2-3 Pachner move is the Biedenharn-Elliott identity read as a coherent sum over an internal edge label. We ask whether a finite relational record model — a spin-1/2 chain in its total-spin-zero sector, with gating registers that select which adjacent bonds are active, and with an explicitly declared operational interface — realises recoupling in that dynamical sense. The answer is negative, and the obstruction is structural rather than quantitative. We show: (i) every operational datum of the declared interface reduces to a trace of a word in Temperley-Lieb generators at loop value 2, and is reproduced identically by realisations carrying no SU(2) at all, so the data are not evidence of SU(2) recoupling specifically; (ii) in any quantum system an amplitude proportional to a recoupling coefficient forces the dynamics to commute with one of the two coupling schemes, so the transition kernel is independent of the dynamics; (iii) within a register configuration the declared dynamics acts as the identity on the coarse intertwiners, so recoupling data are never dynamically sampled; and (iv) on all three readings of "a recoupling move as a process" — passive, active relabelling, and selected dissipative — physical composition fails to realise the pentagon, while the abstract Biedenharn-Elliott identity holds exactly, as it does in every SU(2) system. The one internal-label sum the model does select is incoherent, weighted by ballot multiplicities rather than (2x+1), and signless: the wrong object on three independent counts. The pentagon numerics rest on three independent implementations sharing no code, which agree exactly; the compatible-intermediate criterion separates all six two-move compositions correctly, four giving exactly zero and two giving 47/216 and 245/324. We state the scope precisely. Every result is relative to the declared interface fixed in Section 2. This is not a general no-go for finite relational record dynamics, and it establishes nothing about quantum gravity positively or negatively. The mathematics used — Racah and Wigner recoupling, the Biedenharn-Elliott identity, Schur-Weyl duality, Wedderburn theory — is standard and is not claimed. The contribution is the identification of which structures fail, and why, for this class of models.

BCRD: Auditable Finite Quantum Dynamics, Coarse Records, and the Present Boundary of a Quantum-Geometry Programme

Tobias Croydon-McRae

BCRD (boundary-complete relational dynamics) is a finite quantum-spin research programme studying whether relationally accessible records inside a finite closed system can support their own effective dynamics. This archival v0.1 release records the reviewed programme frontier as of 14 September 2026 using a workflow that separates construction, hostile review, reconciliation, and prospective preregistration. The reviewed finite results include a sufficient finite-range mediator repair of an earlier locality failure; representative-specific native transport distinct from a Feynman-cursor control; predictive records that do not automatically self-update; exact reconstructive closure from one-known-spin erasure correction; approximate common-CPTP-map compatibility for six exposed N=8 transitions of a proper coarse record; and finite process results separating one-time coarse channels from honest semigroup dynamics. The first legal N=8 causal-break memory test remains unresolved above its apparatus floor.A direct recoupling lane establishes a model-specific adjacent-pair Racah 6j² transition probability in a historically declared pair-Lüders interface. This is explicitly not claimed to be a coherent Racah amplitude, physical F-move, pentagon/Pachner dynamics, Ponzano-Regge/Regge sector, continuum gravity, or quantum gravity. A phase-sensitive N=4 recoupling study has been prospectively frozen but no outcome from that study is included in v0.1.This deposit is intended as a durable public priority and provenance record, including explicit negative results and nonclaims. It is not a final journal manuscript and does not claim that BCRD has established quantum gravity.

Quantum Geometry Without a Global Background: Superposed Metrics, Event Identity, and Relational Localization Beyond Fixed Spacetime

Tomoyuki Uchida

This paper is the thirty-second in a sequence developing an interpretive framework that redescribes physical reality as a causally consistent history of information updates rather than as a collection of independently existing objects. It opens the ninth grouping — the quantum-mechanics–gravity interface trilogy (32 Quantum Geometry → 33 Records Backreacting on Geometry → 34 Causal Structure Without a Global Order) — and is the first paper to cross Gate IV (geometry sensitivity): the metric is no longer a fixed background but a quantum degree of freedom. Papers 8 and 31 localized records relationally but on one fixed geometry, where a frame-change groupoid on the shared space made localization objective. When the geometry is itself superposed there is no physically privileged cross-branch map — a common manifold, if used, is mathematical scaffolding, not a physical identification — so that groupoid has no physical domain, and a tempting shortcut appears: compare the branches on one external background and read "the same event" off coordinate coincidence. The claim is that there is no Global Background. The hole argument's lesson — that a record-formation event is individuated by relational coincidences and what is recorded there, not by a manifold point (Einstein's point-coincidence resolution; Stachel, 2014; Rovelli, 2002) — does not merely survive into the quantum case; it sharpens into a problem no background can solve: across inequivalent geometry branches even the relational strategy must be carried by a declared, admissibility-constrained comparison map. Throughout, an event is a record-formation event, kept type-distinct from the record token and from its provenance; unrecorded events are out of scope. The flagship R-A is a separation, not a denial: there is a two-branch geometry-superposition state for which the background-label map (a presentation artifact identifying events by the external labels used to write the branches down) and the admissible relational/provenance comparison return different verdicts, and only the latter is invariant under relabeling. So event identity is not background-readable; primitive identity gives way to identity under an admissible comparison map, where admissibility requires relabeling/gauge-invariance, a support (witness-neighborhood) condition, provenance preservation, anti-gerrymander, and challenge-openness — and the background-label map is the foil, not one admissible map. A worked finite model — two branches presented as record-coincidence graphs with no shared vertex set, including a harder case with the same labels and same contents but non-isomorphic structure — computes the divergence and the determinate / admissibly-open / incomparable trichotomy. R-B extends Paper 31's localization profile to a geometry-indexed GeoLocProf that strictly generalizes it (Paper 31 is the single-geometry degenerate case), built over an identity fiber rather than treating one event as recurring in several branches. R-C lifts the disposition trichotomy to geometry branches. R-D handles region and local-algebra correspondence as induced-where-possible or declared/deferred. This crosses Gate IV, carries Paper 9's record arrow into the interface as a provenance-compatibility clause, retires the Global Background, and hands backreaction to Paper 33 and causal order to Paper 34. Geometry is quantum; its dynamics is not derived. ALAC Paper 32. First panel of the ninth grouping — the quantum-mechanics–gravity interface trilogy (32 Quantum Geometry Without a Global Background -> 33 Records Backreacting on Geometry -> 34 Causal Structure Without a Global Order). Part of the Consistency-Constrained Information History (Akashic Ledger Architecture Cosmology) series. Presents no new quantum mechanics or gravitation; results are interpretive (L2) on imported physics (L1).

The Enforceability of Distinction: Admissible Possibility Spaces, Continuation Algebra, and the Sep/IJC Representation Theorem

Ethan Brooke

A finite joint-query interface admits a single shared classical record if and only if its tested continuation-word algebra embeds faithfully into a commutative algebra of records — if and only if it admits a finite Boolean-record defender — if and only if a finite system of unit, product, recovery, positivity, and state–effect equations is solvable. The failure of every commuting completion is the precise definition of irreducible joint constraint. This is the Sep/IJC Representation Theorem, and it is the centerpiece of The Enforceability of Distinction. What this paper is A standalone formal-foundation paper for finite-interface physics. Self-contained: no prior exposure to the Admissibility Physics Framework is required. The mathematical core is a single biconditional theorem about finite joint-query interfaces, stated and proved in §11 using only finite linear-algebraic content over ℝ. The paper is built on a deliberately small primitive spine of three commitments: Physical identity is finite admissible continuation identity. A physical state is what it can still do. A physical distinction is a finite enforceable separator of continuation profiles. Distinctions are operational, not abstract. Physical distinctions carry positive enforcement cost. The positive cost floor is the only foundational scalar input. Everything else — the physical quotient, descent of distinctions and filters, the enforcement ledger, convex mixtures from finite classical control, and the continuation-word quotient algebra — is a forced construction. The finite-interface ingredients (finite query family Q, finite tested word set 𝒯, operational resolution, positive resolved floor) are not postulates: they are consequences of a finite act of interrogation plus the positive-cost spine. The Sep/IJC Representation Theorem Let (Γ, Q, 𝒯) be a finite joint-query interface with finite query family Q, finite tested word set 𝒯, finite operational resolution, and positive resolved floor. Let 𝒜Q,𝒯 be the tested continuation-word quotient algebra. Then the following are equivalent: (Γ, Q, 𝒯) admits a commuting-extension defender; 𝒜Q,𝒯 embeds faithfully into ℝΛ as a commutative record representation, for some finite labelling Λ; The associated finite Boolean-feasibility system over unit, product, recovery, positivity, and state–effect equations is solvable. The Sep branch is exactly the case where the queried interface fits inside one shared classical record. The IJC branch is the precise failure of every faithful commuting continuation completion. IJC is not a synonym for “quantum.” It is an interface-relative algebraic verdict on whether a single Boolean-record completion exists for the tested word behavior. Quantum interfaces are an empirical instance of the IJC branch — but the IJC classification is independent of any specific physical realization, and there is no postulated identification of IJC with quantum mechanics anywhere in the paper. Surrounding results Refinement stability. Sep is monotone under coarsening of 𝒯; IJC can be revealed by refinement but cannot be erased by it. Branch verdicts are stated relative to both 𝒯 and the chosen operational resolution. Directed finite-test limits. A coherent projective family of finite-stage defenders is required for a global Sep limit; Sep at every finite stage alone is not sufficient. Compactness and bounded-atom hypotheses recover a projective-limit defender. ε-faithful defenders and finite-margin robustness. An approximate-defender theory with explicit operational-norm tolerances; the IJC margin m is preserved under finite-table perturbations of size below m/2. Continuation-word quotient algebra. Typed partial-product structure, incompatible-concatenation rule, contextual congruence, and the two-sided ideal property proved before the quotient is invoked. No-added-resource criterion. Operational sufficient tests and an explicit checklist precede the cost-monotonicity theorem; passive post-processing is the canonical witness. Worked models. A fully worked Sep defender (two classical bits); a Sep with positive interface cost (shared bus); a sequential IJC example (the explicit two-query table); a coupled-but-classical example (shared classical bath). A numerical ledger/floor case study and an explicit κΓ-calibration sensitivity table accompany the foundational sections. Process-category axiom block. A finite APF process-category axiom block; the word algebra realised as a typed path algebra equivalent to a free word algebra modulo contextual-equivalence relations; the defender restated as a partial Boolean-record functor. Trigger-condition discipline Every load-bearing structural theorem is paired with the explicit conditions under which it holds, named at point of use: Cost monotonicity — no-added-resource coarse-graining; Ledger additivity — factorized support; Independent counting — ledger-independent resolution; Robust-floor extension beyond explicitly finite protocols — compact robust-interface conditions R1–R4 (continuity, lower-semicontinuity, bounded atoms, projective coherence); ε-faithful defenders — explicit operational-norm tolerances and finite-margin half-perturbation regime. Each theorem-local condition is stated alongside an explicit failure-mode description and conservative-counting examples (shared coarse record, independent records, coupled discriminator). Reviewers see what the conclusion depends on without searching the paper. Bridges to standard frameworks Section 14 supplies a full finite-static bridge from APF to the published landscape of foundations programmes: a generalized-probabilistic-theory translation (effect algebras, ordered ∗-algebras, accessible GPT fragments, cone equivalence) and finite-static equivalence propositions for Spekkens-style noncontextuality, Fine-style joint distributions, joint-measurability and commuting-dilation criteria, sheaf-theoretic contextuality, sequential instruments and order algebras, the resource-theoretic hierarchy, epBA minimal Boolean embeddings, and the NPA hierarchy with finite-level commuting certificates. In the static finite case: Sep ⇔ commuting dilation ⇔ noncontextual model ⇔ faithful Fine joint distribution ⇔ global Bochner section. The Sep/IJC verdict is a single algebraic invariant that all of these standard frameworks witness from different sides. The novelty boundary is explicit: this paper’s contribution is the four-fold combination — continuation identity + positive cost + ledger bookkeeping + word quotienting — not the standard equivalence between finite Boolean models and commutative algebras. What this paper does not claim This paper does not derive Hilbert space, complex amplitudes, the Born rule, tensor products, density matrices, or the Standard Model. Promoting the commutative record representation to a complex-Hilbert-space construction requires record-positivity and composite-tomography assumptions that are isolated and named in §15. Those assumptions are deferred to a companion paper on quantum structure. This paper does not assert that quantum systems are the only IJC instance, or that classical systems are the only Sep instance. The classification is interface-relative. This paper does not commit to a substance-level reading of admissibility. The Admissible Possibility Space is set-theoretic; the framework’s commitment is structural, not metaphysical. Code and reproducibility The companion repository contains the v8.8 manuscript, the bundled apf/ codebase (every theorem traces to a named check function, including the Phase 21 inseparable-IJC bridge check check_T_inseparable_IJC), an interactive D3.js dependency DAG for the full Admissibility Physics Framework, and a one-click Colab walkthrough notebook. The repository and Colab notebook are being refreshed alongside this v8.8 deposit and will carry the updated v8.8 vocabulary plus the Phase 22 codebase rev (Sep/IJC representation theorem and continuation-word algebra checks) as those land. The links below are stable across the refresh; their content updates in place. GitHub repository — full codebase, manuscript .tex/.pdf, AI-onboarding bundle, audit-native context pack, theorem-by-theorem traceability. One-click Colab walkthrough — reproduces every Paper 1 result from first principles, no setup required, runs end-to-end in your browser. Interactive dependency DAG — explore the bank-registered theorem graph; click any node to surface its check function and dependency chain. Why this paper matters for the series Paper 1 is the bedrock of the Admissibility Physics Framework. v8.8 fixes that bedrock as a finite-interface algebraic theorem with an explicit primitive boundary — positive enforcement cost — and explicit theorem-local triggers, in language an external reviewer can audit without prior APF exposure. The Sep/IJC dichotomy, stated entirely within finite linear algebra over ℝ, is the regime classifier that downstream APF papers (Paper 2 on Standard Model gauge structure, Paper 5 on quantum reconstruction, Paper 6 on dynamics and gravity, Paper 8 on the Admissibility-Capacity Ledger) inherit and refine. The companion quantum-structure paper promotes the commutative record representation to a complex-Hilbert-space construction by adding record-positivity and composite-tomography hypotheses. The argument-first companion volume to this paper — the Paper 1 main body, currently v4.8 at 10.5281/zenodo.18604678 — is being brought up to v4.9 alignment with the v8.8 spec on a parallel track. About the APF series. The Admissibility Physics Framework is a ten-paper derivation chain plus core infrastructure, building physics from finite enforcement of distinction taken seriously as a constitutive commitment. Paper 1 (this paper) is the formal bedrock; downstream papers extend the chain through the Standard Model gauge group, fermion content, quantum formalism, Loren

Pointer States Are Not Enough: Physical Monitor Selection in a Finite Quantum Register

David Elliman

STATUS (18 October 2026). The physics programme that motivated this work was concluded in October 2026 and its claim of a unified derivation withdrawn. The results in this paper do not depend on that programme and stand as stated. A candidate pointer basis, an algebra generated by available microscopic operations, and the pointer structure of a physically selected open-system channel are different objects. This technical report exhibits that distinction in an exact eight-qubit register on the eight triangular faces of a bond-centred oblate square bipyramid. Full polarity-resolved J/K support individuates 32 of 48 valid labels, whereas the banked elementary J-only event individuates 22. Both algebras retain an exact generation-00 noiseless-isospin multiplicity on the same fixed domain. A further finite no-go shows that coherent evolution, address-only records, and polarity-resolved records can share the same 224 exit edges while acting differently on coherence. Transition support therefore does not determine the exported record. The report does not claim a selected physical monitor or experimental realisation. It identifies four missing microscopic clauses and three discriminating experiments. The deposit includes the paper sources, five executable verification gates, their machine-readable reports, and a manifest.

From Phase Sensitivity to Algebraic Identifiability in Finite Recoupling Dynamics

Tobias Croydon-McRae

A phase-sensitive finite quantum effect is not, by itself, an identified coherent recoupling mechanism. This pre-result paper studies the additional mathematical and experimental structure required to pass from an operational phase-sensitive distinction to a prospectively identifiable ordinary-SU(2) recoupling reference class.Beginning from a frozen N=4 experiment whose physical mechanism remained underdetermined, we establish an endpoint-rephasing obstruction for isolated two-channel tomography and motivate an N=6 multipath architecture. An earlier prospectively frozen scalar discriminator, DESIGN_V2, is shown to be exact but non-identifying: its zero set contains large ambient model families, and a second proposed gate is structurally inconsistent with the intended reference class.DESIGN_V3 replaces scalar signatures with a complete 128-coordinate algebraic fingerprint. Ten fixed coordinates reconstruct ten visible quadratic monomials, and on the sufficient chart c3 ≠ 0 the five reference coefficients are generically identifiable modulo the global second-order sign. The remaining 118 deterministic predictions decompose into 82 generic apparatus identities and 36 reference-specific constraints relative to the broad real-symmetric ambient class. Comparator discrimination is exact and stratified: the range-at-most-two comparator class C2 is excluded across the full frozen chart, while the broader C1 class has an exact collision stratum at c1 = c5 = 0.The native N=6 target was not executed for this manuscript. The theory, observable map, reconstruction rule, comparator semantics, collision strata, and inferential ceiling were frozen before any native outcome was opened. The strongest supported interpretation is therefore effective reference-fingerprint compatibility under a future governed test. Microscopic membership, a physical Racah transformation, a physical F-move, and quantum-gravitational interpretations are not established.Version 1.1. Released 15 September 2026.
