Abstract

AbstractThe measurement problem remains the most profound conceptual vulnerabilityin standard quantum mechanics. In this paper, we resolve the decoherence aspectof the measurement problem within the pre-geometric Universal Awareness–Information–Computation (UAIC). We demonstrate that the non-unitary characterof wave function collapse is an objective physical process structurally driven by theUniversal Cosmic Loss Function (UCLF). The “observer”—whether a mechanicaldetector or a biological neural network—is redefined as a mandatory thermodynamicsink: a macroscopic system with sufficient entropy capacity to absorb the Landauererasure heat [20, 2] generated by the MERA coarse-graining cascade. Consciousnessemerges as the topological boundary condition of a highly optimised data-recordingsink. The derivation of the Born rule probabilities from the UCLF dynamics isexplicitly identified as an open problem, and the distinction between decoherence(established within this framework) and full objective collapse (requiring furtherdevelopment) is maintained throughout.1.

Objective Thermodynamic Collapse: Resolving the Quantum Measurement Problem via Infodynamic Bandwidth Saturation

Cody Hudock

The quantum measurement problem has persisted largely because standard formalisms require the insertion of an external observer to collapse the wavefunction. This leaves physics without a kinematic mechanism for the actual transition from a continuous superposition to a discrete outcome. We propose here that wavefunction collapse functions as a deterministic thermodynamic phase transition, forced via the finite processing memory of the spatial vacuum. Operating within the Symbiotic Infodynamic Equilibrium (SIE) framework, we model the macroscopic vacuum as a discrete, finite-capacity Face-Centered Cubic (FCC) relational graph. A quantum superposition is evaluated here as an unformatted data-routing state distributed across this lattice. We show that maintaining this coherent spatial distribution imposes a linear infodynamic memory burden on the substrate. As the spatial extent or the mass of the superposed system increases, this informational burden intersects with the intrinsic holographic capacity of the localized state. Setting this microscopic capacity (S_cap proportional to M^-2) equal to the macroscopic Bekenstein-Hawking entropy (S_BH proportional to M^2) derives a first-principles boundary for quantum behavior (M_cut = m_P / sqrt(2)). We structurally redefine observation not as a conscious act of measurement, but as an entanglement-driven mass transfer. When a microscopic system interacts with a macroscopic apparatus, the aggregate mass penalty breaches the local bandwidth limit of the vacuum, thereby forcing a deterministic formatting of the state. This infodynamic bandwidth saturation yields explicit spatial (delta x_max proportional to M^-3) and temporal limits for objective reduction, while predicting a falsifiable discrete Landauer thermal purge detectable via macroscopic optomechanical interferometry.

Timeless Histories: Quantum Measurement and the Maximum Entropy Principle

Alexei V. Tkachenko

The quantum measurement problem, i.e., the apparent conflict between unitary quantum evolution and non-unitary, stochastic wave-function collapse, remains unresolved a century after the formulation of quantum mechanics. We first review the standard picture, from the Copenhagen prescription with its Heisenberg cut, through von Neumann's movable cut, to environment-induced decoherence, which explains the emergence of stable classical records but still presupposes the Born rule and therefore cannot by itself replace the measurement postulates. We then connect this problem to the Maximum Entropy Principle in two complementary ways. First, decoherence drives the measurement apparatus toward the least biased state compatible with the dynamically protected pointer distribution, so that the emergent collapse may be viewed as a thermodynamic relaxation toward constrained maximum entropy. Second, we propose a Timeless Histories formulation of quantum mechanics in which the primitive objects are ordered sequences of events rather than evolving wave functions. Their conditional probabilities are assigned, relative to specified refinements, by a single Born-Boltzmann rule that combines the quadratic structure of Born's rule with Boltzmann's counting of equally probable microstates. The textbook form of Born's rule, the projection postulate, density operators, and wave functions are then recovered as derived informational constructs, while collapse becomes Bayesian conditioning on recorded events. Time and space enter only subsequently through unitary translation symmetry. Since the probability rule is postulated without reference to any physical collapse or classical observer, the usual circularity of the decoherence program is avoided. Decoherence can then be invoked to explain the stability and approximate additivity of macroscopic records, i.e., the emergence of classicality.

PREPRINT: The Measurement Problem is Geometry A Derivation of the Born Rule, Collapse, Decoherence, and the Preferred Basis from Scale Space

Koenig, Andy, Karma

ABSTRACTThe measurement problem is the longest-standing unresolved foundational issue in quantum mechanics. The Born rule is postulated. Collapse isassumed. Decoherence is explained environmentally but does not produce collapse. The preferred basis is arbitrary. This paper solves the measurement problem using the scale dimension from Geometric Essentialism (Koenig 2026a). The fullwavefunction lives in 5D: spacetime plus scale . The scale measure defines the inner product. Observers are not points but narrow Gaussiansin with width , where s is the brain's alpha rhythm (the "present moment" refresh rate). From these ingredients, we derive:1. The Born rule: (up to normalization) follows from the -weighted inner product and the observer's -localization. Notpostulated.2. Decoherence: When different branches of the wavefunction are separated in by more than the observer's width, the interference term vanishes. Noenvironment needed. Scale geometry does it.3. Collapse: The observer only experiences the branch that overlaps their -slice. Projection is not physical collapse — it's conditional experience. Thefull 5D wavefunction remains unitary.4. Preferred basis: The eigenfunctions of the scale Laplacian (the scaleons) are naturally localized in . Measurements project onto scaleon numberstates.5. The observer's width: . This is derived from the 42 constant: , where Hz is the alpharhythm.6. Why matters: The observer cannot be at because the probability density vanishes there (the graviton node). The observer is offset, and that offset enables the Born rule.7. Consciousness: The ability to maintain coherent -localization at 10 Hz is proposed as the physical substrate of conscious awareness. Theinterthalamic adhesion (ITA) is the candidate resonator. The Mirror Test (ITA version) is a falsifiable prediction. The measurement problem is not a problem. It is geometry. Measurement, Decoherence, and Negotiated Reality: The Foundations of Quantum Mechanics in the Planck Core Framework

Wengang Yu

This paper resolves the measurement problem and the problem of intersubjectivity—two foundational puzzles of quantum mechanics—within the Planck Core Framework, without requiring any additional postulates beyond the three axioms of the framework. I prove that measurement is not a mysterious non-unitary "collapse" of the wavefunction, but a unitary process of entanglement establishment between subsystems of the quantum bit network. The apparent collapse arises from the observer's limited access to the full entanglement structure: what we perceive as a definite measurement outcome is simply our location within a specific entanglement branch. The Born rule is derived, not postulated—the probability of an outcome is proportional to the number of entanglement threads in the corresponding branch. The Wigner's friend paradox is resolved by proving that different observers may occupy different branches, but their descriptions converge when they exchange information via entanglement. I further introduce the concept of the "information eye"—a hypothetical direct entanglement sensor—and prove that any macroscopic biological organism operating at biological temperatures will inevitably perceive a decohered, classicalised representation of reality, not the underlying quantum information network itself. The classical appearance of the macroscopic world is thus derived as a contingent consequence of thermodynamic constraints on biological evolution, not a fundamental feature of reality. This work completes the derivation of quantum mechanics from the Planck Core Framework, establishing that no special measurement postulate is required.

The Zeno Threshold: Wavefunction Collapse and the Emergence of Time via Landauer Erasure Limits

Serdar Hanzala Yaman

The Quantum Measurement Problem — the absence of any physical mechanism by which deterministic, unitary Schrödinger evolution transitions into a discrete, probabilistic classical outcome — remains the central open problem in the foundations of quantum mechanics. While environmental decoherence explains the suppression of quantum interference, it does not explain why or when a single outcome is realized. This paper resolves the measurement problem within the Algorithmic Theory of Reality (ATR). By treating the universe as a finite-bandwidth information-processing architecture, we demonstrate that wavefunction collapse is not a mystical observer effect, but a mandatory thermodynamic memory-management protocol. Key Results: The Collapse Threshold: We prove that when a microscopic superposition entangles with a macroscopic apparatus, the entanglement entropy grows until the local Bennett-Landauer processing cost exceeds the local holographic energy budget. This forces a non-unitary state truncation. Quantitative Timescale: The derived threshold yields a quantitative collapse timescale (τc) that mathematically matches the experimentally observed decoherence time. Derivation of the Born Rule: Given pointer-state orthogonality (from decoherence), we rigorously derive the Born Rule (pi = |ci|2) by formulating the forced state truncation as a constrained thermodynamic optimization problem that minimizes the Kullback-Leibler divergence (algorithmic information loss). Scale Unification: The exact same Bennett-Landauer limit that dictates the macroscopic boundaries of the universe (Dark Energy) and galaxies (the MOND scale) is shown to govern the microscopic limits of quantum coherence. The ATR framework mathematically determines when collapse must occur, with what statistics, and in which basis, reducing the single-outcome problem to a single, structurally necessary axiom (the Lüders update). Supplementary Material: The algebraic derivation of the Born Rule (via KL-divergence minimization and Lagrange multipliers), the exponential growth of entanglement entropy, and Monte Carlo statistical validations are independently reproducible via the companion computational verification script, available at: https://github.com/srdrymn/atr-verify-wavefunction-collapse

Pure Mechanical Reconstruction of the Observer Effect: Perturbative Mass Endowment, Dynamical Braking, and Wave-Particle Phase Transition

WUN, SYU JIA

The "Measurement Problem" in contemporary quantum mechanics has long attributed the phenomenon of wave function collapse to non-physical interventions by the observer or the involvement of subjective consciousness. Discarding this phenomenological interpretation, the present study proposes a purely mechanical reconstruction of the observer effect through geometric dynamics, grounded in the wave function mesh and force topology framework of the Grand Unified Theory of Cosmic Mind (GUTCM). This paper posits that the physical essence of a macroscopic observer (including measuring instruments and biological sensory systems) is a high-mass, multi-field coupled entity. The act of "observation" is, in reality, a geometric collision and interaction involving substantial momentum exchange exerted by this macroscopic system upon a microscopic wave-state entity with zero rest mass (m₀ =0). Within the underlying topological mesh, this physical interference inevitably generates a local repulsive force greater than zero (ΔF>0) and an increase in informational entropy, which dynamically endows the observed entity with an infinitesimally small "Perturbative Mass" (Δm→0⁺). The intervention of this perturbative mass alters the system's boundary conditions, causing the microscopic entity to lose the dynamical characteristic of global traversal at an infinite velocity (v→∞), a state exclusive to zero mass. Due to the damping of mass inertia, its propagation velocity undergoes an objective "Dynamical Braking Effect," forcing a dimensional reduction and convergence to the physical limit of the three-dimensional manifold, the speed of light c. This geometric convergence of propagation speed results in its physical manifestation transitioning from a continuous, diffuse "wave state" to a "particle state" with definitive spatial coordinates. Simultaneously, this study defines the observational collision as a transient physical interference process; once the observational interaction terminates and external tension is withdrawn, the perturbative mass dissipates via thermodynamic mechanisms. The entity's rest mass returns to zero (m total →0), the mass damping is lifted, and its propagation velocity rebounds to v→∞, thereby explaining the phenomenon of elastic regression of geometric states in wave-particle duality. This theory converges the phenomenon of quantum measurement into mechanisms of perturbative mass endowment, dynamical deceleration, and wave-particle phase transition within the frameworks of general relativity and topological mechanics.
