Abstract

ABSTRACTThe measurement problem is the longest-standing unresolved foundational issue in quantum mechanics. The Born rule is postulated. Collapse isassumed. Decoherence is explained environmentally but does not produce collapse. The preferred basis is arbitrary. This paper solves the measurement problem using the scale dimension from Geometric Essentialism (Koenig 2026a). The fullwavefunction lives in 5D: spacetime plus scale . The scale measure defines the inner product. Observers are not points but narrow Gaussiansin with width , where s is the brain's alpha rhythm (the "present moment" refresh rate). From these ingredients, we derive:1. The Born rule: (up to normalization) follows from the -weighted inner product and the observer's -localization. Notpostulated.2. Decoherence: When different branches of the wavefunction are separated in by more than the observer's width, the interference term vanishes. Noenvironment needed. Scale geometry does it.3. Collapse: The observer only experiences the branch that overlaps their -slice. Projection is not physical collapse — it's conditional experience. Thefull 5D wavefunction remains unitary.4. Preferred basis: The eigenfunctions of the scale Laplacian (the scaleons) are naturally localized in . Measurements project onto scaleon numberstates.5. The observer's width: . This is derived from the 42 constant: , where Hz is the alpharhythm.6. Why matters: The observer cannot be at because the probability density vanishes there (the graviton node). The observer is offset, and that offset enables the Born rule.7. Consciousness: The ability to maintain coherent -localization at 10 Hz is proposed as the physical substrate of conscious awareness. Theinterthalamic adhesion (ITA) is the candidate resonator. The Mirror Test (ITA version) is a falsifiable prediction. The measurement problem is not a problem. It is geometry. The Born Rule From First Principles A Geometric Derivation via Dimensional Marginalization and Topological Constraints

Koenig, Andy, Karma

AbstractThe Born rule—assigning quantum probabilities as —remains a postulate in standard quantummechanics. Despite numerous attempts (Gleason's theorem, decoherence, envariance, decision theory), noderivation has eliminated the need for an additional probabilistic axiom. This paper presents a geometric derivationof the Born rule from three minimal principles: (1) physical states are complex linear fields, (2) reality includes anunobservable scale dimension , and (3) observers are restricted to fixed-scale hypersurfaces. Under theseconditions, the unique operational density consistent with linearity, conservation, and phase invariance is thequadratic form . Marginalizing over unobservable scale degrees of freedom yields . Under scale-localization or scale-decoherence, this reduces to , reproducing the Born rulewithout assumption. If the ultraviolet limit of the manifold is a compact genus- surface, topological constraintsproduce structured statistical signatures: for , a 138-mode periodic correction emerges, providing afalsifiable experimental prediction. Measurement is reinterpreted as dimensional projection, not wavefunctioncollapse. Quantum probabilities arise as geometric shadows of deterministic higher-dimensional dynamics. Keywords: Born rule, quantum probability, dimensional flow, marginalization, scale space, genus, quantumfoundations, measurement problem Full Theory Portfolio at: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1fdKdo3edGqXVx95IntIumXlzKq22s-yw?usp=drive_link

Objective Collapse without Observers: Measurement as Momentum Transfer in a 5D Delay Manifold

Bahman Masarratbakhsh

Resolving the Quantum Measurement Problem via 5D Geometry This paper is the second installment in the "Time-Delay Field" (TDF) theory series. Following the foundational work in "Emergent Wave Mechanics" (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.18685669), we apply the 5D null geodesic framework to solve the longstanding "Measurement Problem" in quantum mechanics. Abstract:The instantaneous collapse of the wave function upon observation remains an unresolved paradox involving ill-defined concepts like "observers." We resolve this paradox within the TDF framework. By modeling particles as 5D null geodesics, we demonstrate that any measurement process necessarily involves a momentum transfer $\Delta p_\mu$ in 4D. Due to the geometric constraint of the 5D null metric ($P_A P^A = 0$), this 4D momentum kick forces a compensatory shift in the delay dimension momentum, resulting in a stochastic phase shift ("phase kick"). We show analytically that this mechanism randomizes the geometric phase, washing out interference terms. Thus, wave function collapse is derived as a deterministic, local mechanical process of "phase-momentum coupling" in the 5D bulk, eliminating the need for subjective observers. Key Contributions: Mechanical Collapse: Proves that "measurement" is simply a momentum transfer that scrambles the extra-dimensional phase. Derivation of the Born Rule: Shows that probability ($|\psi|^2$) arises from the conservation of 5D trajectory flux. No "Spooky" Action: Replaces non-local jumps with local geometric interactions in the delay dimension. Experimental Consistency: Aligns with recent symmetry-dependent timing experiments (Guo et al., 2026). Keywords: Measurement Problem, Wave Function Collapse, Decoherence, Time-Delay Field, 5D Geometry, Born Rule, Quantum Foundations, Objective Collapse.

Resolving the Quantum Measurement Problem: Deriving the Born Rule and Wavefunction Collapse from First Principles

Luke McCabe

Abstract:The quantum measurement problemthe fundamental conict between the deterministic, unitary evolution described by the Schrödinger equation and the stochastic, irreversible outcomes observed in experimentshas remained unresolved since the inception of quantum mechanics nearly a century ago. Here we demonstrate that the Chrono-Singularity Unication (CSU) framework provides a complete, rst-principles resolution of all ve components of the measurement problem with zero adjustable parameters. From a minimal informational substrate ΨI characterized by three internally-calibrated constants (α = ln 2, β = ln 2, w = −1), we derive: (i) the Born rule P = |ψ| 2 as a mathematical necessity via the GNS construction and spectral theorem; (ii) the emergence of the preferred (position) basis through Dobrushin concentration bounds on redundant environmental records; (iii) single denite outcomes from the sampled-history ontology without dynamical collapse; (iv) full compatibility with special relativity through topological linking that preserves no-signaling while permitting Bell-inequality violation; and (v) unique, falsi- able experimental predictions including a mass-dependent gravitational decoherence oor testable in near-future molecular interferometry experiments. Significance:This framework provides the exact geometric scaling required to resolve the Hubble tension and derives the Diósi-Penrose gravitational decoherence floor (τ=ℏ/ΔEG) strictly as a low-energy macroscopic limit. This paper serves as the theoretical foundation for a fully deterministic, parameter-free unification of quantum mechanics and general relativity.

Observation as Resonant Selection: A Physical Mechanism for Wavefunction Collapse

Charles Young

The quantum measurement problem — the question of what physically occurs when a quantum system yields a definite outcome upon measurement — has remained unresolved since von Neumann's formalization of quantum mechanics in 1932. Existing interpretational frameworks each address aspects of this problem while leaving a specific mechanistic gap unfilled. The Copenhagen interpretation declares collapse without explaining it. The many-worlds interpretation removes collapse but cannot specify the preferred measurement basis. Pilot wave theory identifies a guiding field without identifying what it is. Relational quantum mechanics correctly describes the relational structure of measurement outcomes without specifying the physical process by which relational facts are established. Decoherence theory specifies which outcomes are available through environmental selection without explaining which outcome actually occurs. In each case the effect of measurement is described with precision while the mechanism remains absent. This paper proposes that the Dimensional Evolution geometric framework provides that mechanism. Wavefunction collapse is resonant selection — the stabilization of a specific harmonic configuration when an observer's resonance structure synchronizes with a quantum system's scan traversal through a completed entropic pathway. This is not a metaphysical claim. It is a physically grounded geometric process from which the measurement postulates of standard quantum mechanics emerge as derived consequences rather than foundational axioms. The Born rule reflects the fractal exponential geometry of the coherence manifold. The preferred basis is geometrically specified by observer-system resonance compatibility. The measurement cut dissolves into a continuous spectrum of resonance stability requiring no quantum-classical boundary. The definite outcome problem is resolved by resonant synchronization completing — a deterministic geometric event whose apparent randomness reflects incomplete knowledge of resonance conditions rather than fundamental indeterminacy. The paper maps DE's resonant selection mechanism against each major interpretation, identifying precisely where DE does explanatory work each interpretation cannot. Three testable experimental predictions are proposed — geometry-dependent collapse timing, resonance-bandwidth-dependent outcome distributions, and a geometric memory effect in measurement apparatus — each grounded in physical principles confirmed at other scales and each distinguishable from standard quantum mechanical and decoherence predictions. The implications of this account for the Heisenberg uncertainty relation are identified as a priority for subsequent formal development.

Dimensional Evolution — Quantum Measurement and Identity Formation: A Geometric Framework for Wavefunction Structure, Collapse, and Probability

Charles A. S. Young

This paper presents Dimensional Evolution — Quantum Measurement and Identity Formation (DE-QM), a geometric framework addressing the quantum measurement problem while preserving the full predictive structure of standard quantum mechanics. Within DE-QM, the wavefunction is treated as a resonance-geometry field rather than a probability amplitude. Superposition arises from deterministic traversal across multiple resonance-compatible configurations supported by an inverse domain, rather than from the coexistence of mutually realized states. Measurement collapse is described as a geometric stability transition governed by anchoring thresholds imposed by environmental and detector constraints. Probability emerges as a derived measure of geometric overlap between scan traversal and detector geometry, recovering the Born rule without introducing intrinsic randomness or observer-dependent postulates. The framework integrates decoherence, entanglement, and relativistic structure into a unified geometric description that remains fully compatible with nonrelativistic and relativistic quantum mechanics, including the Schrödinger and Dirac formalisms. Entanglement is treated as a shared inverse-domain resonance geometry, enabling coordinated collapse without superluminal signaling. Measurement outcomes are shown to be observer-independent and physically grounded in macroscopic anchoring geometry, consistent with established experimental results. This manuscript serves as the foundational quantum-mechanical component of the broader Dimensional Evolution framework and builds directly on prior canonical works, including the DE Core paper, companion papers CP1–CP5, and specialized studies addressing the Mott problem and Dirac structure. DE-QM does not modify quantum mechanics’ mathematical formalism; rather, it provides a coherent geometric ontology underlying wavefunction structure, superposition, collapse, and probability. --- Project website: https://de-theory.com This work is part of the Dimensional Evolution research program. Quantum Mechanics from the 600-Cell

Eric McLean

Quantum Mechanics from the 600-Cell: Measurement, Collapse, and the Born Rule Solved Pentagon Physics Programme Paper 36 This paper argues that the measurement problem in quantum mechanics is not a dynamical problem but a geometric one, and solves it accordingly. The physical state space is the 600-cell, a four-dimensional regular polytope with 120 vertices whose coordinates all lie in ℚ(√5). The 600-cell is not postulated. It is derived from the self-referential axiom σ = 1/(1+σ) via E₈, as established in earlier papers in this series. A 3D observer is by definition a hyperplane in ℝ⁴. Measurement is the 4D state touching that hyperplane. Measurement is therefore projection — not by assumption or analogy, but by definition. Given a 4D state space and a 3D observer, no other operation is geometrically available. From this, six results follow: The Born rule is not a postulate. It is the projection identity |⟨m|ψ⟩|² = 1 − v₄², automatic from the Pythagorean theorem once the state space is the 600-cell. The squaring is forced by Gleason's theorem: the quadratic form is the unique consistent probability measure on subspaces of dimension ≥ 3. The mean Born probability is exactly 3/4. By the spherical symmetry of S³, each coordinate has expected square 1/4. The three visible coordinates account for 3/4 of the state. The hidden fraction is exactly 1/4. This is the same 3/4 : 1/4 partition that appears in the Spiral Engine as the hydrogen-to-helium transmission ratio — the same geometric fact at two levels of the sublimation hierarchy. Hilbert space is the coordinate system. The 600-cell is the geometry. ℂ² is ℝ⁴ with complex bookkeeping. Every approach that worked within ℂⁿ without identifying the 600-cell was handling the right evidence inside the wrong frame. Superposition, collapse, wave-particle duality, and entanglement all dissolve. Superposition is what a 3D observer describes when the fourth coordinate is inaccessible. Collapse is not a process — it is a definite 4D vertex seen from ℝ³. Entanglement is shared structure in the fourth coordinate, locally present in the geometry, non-local only from inside three dimensions. Quantum mechanics is entirely a fourth-dimension phenomenon seen from inside three. The path integral is finite. The Dirac–Frenkel action restricted to the 600-cell is a sum over 720 edges, all weights in ℚ(√5). It converges without regularisation. QFT divergences are artefacts of a continuous state space that was never the correct object. The VAC/σ² cell in the Constants Table is identified. The coherence floor φ⁶ is derived from the 600-cell's angular structure: six steps of π/5 close the signed inner-product cycle. The 600-cell is the second geometric mode. Five falsification conditions are given. The sharpest: if any experiment specifically engineered to prepare and probe states with full icosahedral symmetry in four dimensions yields measurement probabilities outside {0, (5−√5)/8, 3/4, (5+√5)/8, 1}, the framework fails. No such experiment has been performed. No laboratory has been looking for it.
