Entanglement dynamics between a pair of two-level atoms and cavity fields connected by an optical fiber

Abstract

In this study, we theoretically investigate a system composed of two isolated two-level atoms, each confined within an independent single-mode optical cavity. The cavities are coherently coupled via an optical fiber, enabling photon-mediated interaction between the two subsystems. Each cavity sustains a single-mode quantized electromagnetic field, and each atom couples exclusively to the field within its respective cavity. We analyze the time dependent entanglement dynamics, exploring both atom-atom and cavity-field bipartite entanglement under this hybrid interaction framework. To quantify entanglement, we employ concurrence as the measurement metric. The effects of the atoms' initial states and the optical fiber’s coupling strength on both atom-atom and field-field entanglement are analyzed. Numerical results reveal that when the coupling strength of the optical fiber is close to zero, no entanglement is observed between either the atoms or the fields. However, as the fiber coupling strength increases, entanglement emerges and exhibits collapse and revival behavior over time.

Entanglement of a System of an Indirectly Linked Two-Coupled-Cavity through an Optical Fiber Cable for Single Excitation Atomic States in the Presence of an External Field

Sadek Ahmed Hanoura

Abstract The dynamics of the quantum entropies of a system of two cavities coupled by an optical fiber cable, each cavity contains a two-level atom interacting with a single electromagnetic field in addition to an external classical field, is investigated. Under canonical transformations, the considered Hamiltonian is diagonalized. Effective Hamiltonians in three different limiting regimes: namely large optical fiber cable coupling bstrength, large detunig, and comparable detuning and optical fiber cable coupling strength, are derived. The ith ¯ -tom are respectively prepared in the superposition coherent and the ground states while the fields are prepared in the vacuum states. An analytical expression for the solution of the Schr¨odinger equation for each dispersive is derived. The degree of entanglement (DEM) is studied by using von Neumann atomic entropies. The influences of both the optical fiber cable coupling strength and the detuning on the evolution of the DEM ”their values are closely chosen to be compatible with the imposed restrictions for the applications of the different regimes” are analyzed. General conclusions reached are illustrated by numerical results.

Entanglement dynamics and population inversion of a two-qubit system in two cavities coupled with optical fiber in the presence of two-photon transition

S. A. S. Musavi, Mohammad Kazem Tavassoly, S. Salimian

In this paper, the entanglement between two qubits that exist in two distinct cavities which are connected by an optical fiber is investigated by using the concurrence, while two-photon transitions and Kerr medium effect are also considered. Each cavity contains a qubit and a single-mode quantized field. The appearance of entanglement between the two qubits in the separate cavities originates from the presence of optical fiber. The obtained numerical results of the considered system show that, if the Kerr medium is large enough, the initial values of entanglement between the two qubits (which may have the maximum possible value, i.e. 1) can be approximately protected from the large amplitude fluctuations, so that acceptable stability is created. Also, qubit-field coupling and detuning effects are investigated and it is observed that symmetric coupling results in more stability of entanglement. Eventually, atomic population inversion is also studied and it is observed that it is controllable by considering different parameters.

Entanglement properties of two atoms interacting with weak coherent states trapped in two distant cavities connected by an optical fiber

Wang Zhong-Qing, Zhao Xiao-Qi, Zhou Xian-Ju

Considering a system comprised of two-level atoms resonantly interacting with weak coherent states trapped in two distant cavities connected by an optical fiber initially, we study the entanglement properties of the atom-atom, the cavity-cavity and the atom-cavity. Then the influences of the ratio between fiber-cavity and atom-cavity coupling intensity, the intensity and the phase of the cavity field on the entanglement properties are investigated numerically. It is shown that the entanglements of the atom-atom, the cavity-cavity and the atom-cavity vary with time in the periodical or approximately periodical manner; the entanglement can be transferred from cavity-cavity to atom-atom reciprocally. Compared with the entanglements of atom-atom and cavity-cavity, the varying period of atom-cavity entanglement is short. The ratio of fiber-cavity coupling intensity to atom-cavity coupling intensity and the phase of cavity field affect the entanglement properties greatly. The great entanglement can be achieved by using a smaller ratio of coupling intensity between fiber-cavity and atom-cavity.

The Entanglement Properties in the System of Three Atoms Trapped in Two Distant Cavities Connected by An Optical Fiber

WU Dao-yong

Three two-level atoms are trapped in two initially empty cavities that are connected by an optical fiber. We investigate the entanglement evolution between two atoms in the same cavity and the entanglement evolution between two cavities. We discuss the influences of the state-selective measurement on the entanglement and that of fiber-cavity coupling coefficient on the entanglement. The obtained results show that atom-atom entanglement property has a nonlinear relation with increasing of the cavity-fiber coupling coefficient, and cavity-cavity entanglement property is weakened with increasing of the cavity-fiber coupling coefficient. On the other hand, the results also show that the entanglement between two cavities and that between two atoms can be strengthened through the state-selective measurement on the atom.

Entanglement of two Jaynes–Cummings atoms in single-excitation space

Ya Yang, Yan Liu, Jing Lu +1 more

Abstract We study the entanglement dynamics of two atoms coupled to their own Jaynes–Cummings cavities in single-excitation space. Here, we use concurrence to measure atomic entanglement, and consider the Bell-like states to be initial states. Our analysis suggests that collapse and revival take place in entanglement dynamics. The physical mechanism behind entanglement dynamics is periodic information and energy exchange between atoms and light fields. For the initial Bell-like states, evolutionary periodicity of the atomic entanglement can only be found if the ratio of the two atom–cavity coupling strengths is a rational number. Also, whether there is a time translation between two kinds of initial Bell-like state depends on odd versus even numbers of the coupling-strength ratio.

The evolution of three-body entanglement in the system of atoms interacting with coupled cavities

LU Dao-ming

In this paper we consider the situation that four identical two-level atoms are separately trapped in coupled single-mode optical cavities and each atom resonantly interacts with cavity via a one-photon hopping. The three-body entanglement dynamics in each cavity is studied. The influences of atom-cavity coupling constant on the three-body entanglement are discussed. The results obtained using the numerical method show that the three-body entanglement displays the collapse-revival phenomena when atom-cavity coupling constant is larger than a fixed value. On the other hand, the three-body entanglement is the result of the coherent superposition of the two-body entanglements.
