Information Emergence from Absence: A Conceptual Framework for Record, Time, and Consciousness

Abstract

This work proposes a conceptual framework in which information emerges through the introduction of absence via observation. We introduce a dual structure consisting of a general domain without distinction and a particular domain where differentiation arises. Within this structure, record, consciousness, and time are treated as emergent from transitions involving absence. This work is conceptual and does not provide empirical predictions. It is intended as an interpretational extension related to, but independent from, physics-oriented approaches to resolution and distinguishability. "Emergence of Measured Time from Timeless Quantum Gravity Using a Layered Relational Framework"

Laksminarayan Bhat

The treatment of time differs fundamentally across quantum mechanics, quantum gravity, and general relativity, leading to persistent conceptual inconsistencies commonly referred to as the problem of time. In this paper, we apply a layered mental construct model of time to analyze the role of time across these frameworks without modifying their established dynamical equations. We show how this model clarifies the absence of time in the Wheeler–DeWitt equation, the external parameter role of time in the Schrödinger equation, and the coordinate-based nature of time in spacetime geometry. By interpreting time as an emergent measure of observable change rather than a fundamental physical entity, the framework streamlines conceptual irregularities across these domains. This approach provides a coherent interpretational bridge between timeless quantum gravity and relativistic physics, explaining the effective absoluteness of time within local frames and its relativity in comparative measurements. Resolution-Dependent Structure in Quantum Measurement, Gravity, and Information

Junta Segawa

This project presents a resolution-based framework in which distinguishability emerges from observational projection with finite resolution. The core idea is formalized by a projection operator P_lambda acting on an underlying configuration space, generating observable structure. Relational Emergence Model: A Generative Extension of Relational Quantum Mechanics

Yoshifumi Maruko

Relational Quantum Mechanics (RQM) proposes that physical states exist only relative to other systems, but does not explain how such relational structures arise. This paper introduces the Relational Emergence Model (REM), which addresses this foundational gap by modeling the generation of relational structure as an explicit physical process. The central contribution is the differentiation map 𝒟 — not a unitary operator, but a structural bipartition-selecting map that produces explicit system–observer correlations from a pre-relational Hilbert space (Layer 0). Environmental decoherence 𝓔 then acts as a CPTP map on the articulated structure, stabilizing effectively classical facts (Layer 2). This three-layer architecture (pre-relational potential → relational articulation → phenomenal stabilization) provides a mathematically structured account of how relational reality becomes determinate. REM is compared with RQM, QBism, and Many-Worlds interpretations. Unlike these approaches, REM does not presuppose that relational structures are already formed — it models the generative phase that precedes perspectival consistency. The framework also provides a natural analysis of Wigner's Friend scenarios as multi-level differentiation processes. A structural correspondence (not equivalence) with Buddhist concepts of dependent origination (pratītyasamutpāda) and emptiness (śūnyatā) is identified: Layer 0 corresponds to the absence of intrinsic nature prior to differentiation; Layer 1 corresponds to the arising of relational structure through differentiation events. --- This is Paper 1 of the 6-paper Relational Emergence Model (REM) series: - REM1 (this paper) — Foundational framework: three-layer architecture and differentiation map- REM2 — Selection principles for the differentiation map (variational formulation) https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19155166- REM3 — Generative differentiation via variational selection on factorization manifold https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19157709- REM4 — Competing informational and dynamical criteria for subsystem structure https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19637584- REM5 — Variational selection of tensor-product structure in quantum systems https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19637651- REM_lambda — Variational generation of relational structure (physical interpretation of λ) https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19641344

R = EDOC

Kariolnizam Zan

EDOC (Energy · Data · Observation · Consciousness) introduces a unified informational framework that links physics, information theory, and the study of causality. It defines reality as a continuous transformation of potential into record and meaning through four causal operators — E, D, O, and C — forming a closed informational continuum. Each cycle, or EDOC frame, represents one complete act of causation, conserving information while generating observable structure and interpretive awareness. This formulation provides a coherent bridge between quantum and classical domains, integrating observation, feedback, and systemic rendering within a single causal grammar. The project consolidates foundational texts, experimental briefs, and canonical indices to support interdisciplinary research on informational causality and the nature of existence. Universal Information Field (UIF) and Interference-Stabilized Information Structures (INSI): A Theoretical Framework

Levent Güler

This project presents a theoretical investigation into interference-based information structures as a possible framework for understanding the emergence of conscious observers. The work explores how observer-related phenomena may arise from structured information dynamics without presupposing consciousness as a fundamental ontological primitive. The focus is on conceptual clarity, interdisciplinary compatibility, and theoretical coherence rather than empirical claims. The project includes: – A German original version of the preprint – An English, author-reviewed translation In addition to the main preprint, the project includes a follow-up manuscript that provides conceptual extensions of the INSI framework with respect to space, time, gravitation, entropy, and irreversibility.

An Informationally Emergent Physical Framework

Enrico Ferrero

This project hosts a coherent theoretical research program proposing an informationally emergent physical framework. The framework is developed through a sequence of interdependent papers (P00–P32), each addressing a specific structural layer (discrete networks, coherence constraints, emergent quantum dynamics, gauge structures, gravity, and cosmology). Individual papers are archived separately with DOIs (Zenodo) and are linked here for unified access.
