Abstract

Evidence Paper VI of the Existence Equation series. From Born rule to Bell inequality: one observer to two. In the parent work (The Existence Equation), the Born rule P = |Ψ|² is not an axiom but a derived consequence: the condensation term α|Ψ|²Ψ projects the continuous phase of the deviation field onto discrete binary outcomes (±1), and time-averaging the projected phase recovers cos θ correlations — verified by simulation on a 256³ lattice (hydrogen s-orbital, 30,000 steps). The Born rule emerges from the measurement geometry of one observer. If the Born rule for one observer is a consequence of ED's condensation mechanism, then for two observers sharing a single conserved field (Ψ_A + Ψ_B = 0), the Tsirelson bound S = 2√2 follows as pure measurement geometry. The Bell inequality violation is not a separate mystery — it is the natural two-observer extension of the same mechanism that produces the Born rule. Input: 2 items. The structural reading of Bell violation: Standard quantum mechanics treats the Born rule as an axiom and calculates 2√2 through Hilbert space operator norms. The Existence Equation derives the Born rule from condensation, then explains 2√2 as the geometric consequence of applying that same mechanism to two observers sharing a conserved field. The Bell inequality violation is not evidence for non-locality — it is evidence for non-separability of a single conserved deviation field. The Bell inequality violation is not spooky. It is geometric. It measures the diagonal of the binary measurement lattice. The Born Rule from S² Geometry: Three Independent Routes to P = |⟨φ|ψ⟩|², with Geometric Resolution of Schrödinger's Cat, the Three-Polariser Paradox, the Tsirelson Bound, and the Cosmological Decoherence Floor

C. R. (René) de Haan

The Born rule — that the probability of obtaining outcome |phi> in a measurement of a quantum system in state |psi> is P = |<phi|psi>|^2 — is one of the most empirically well-confirmed and conceptually contested statements in physics. Existing derivation attempts (Gleason’s theorem; Deutsch–Wallace decision theory; Zurek envariance; many-worlds branch counting) each establish it under their own assumptions, but none has achieved universal acceptance. We show that in the Three Time Dimensions (3+3) spacetime framework (de Haan 2026, book DOI 10.5281/zenodo.19633127), in which the third time dimension t_3 is compactified as a discrete two-sphere S^2 with 2^152 Planck-area cells, the Born rule emerges through three independent geometric routes that all converge on the same result P = |<phi|psi>|^2. Route 1 (Malus’s Law on S^2): the wavefunction is literally a direction on the t_3 S^2; the Bloch sphere IS this S^2; Malus’s 1809 law P = cos^2(theta) is identical to the Born rule for bosons, with SU(2) double cover giving cos^2(theta/2) for fermions. Route 2 (Gleason + S^2 non-contextuality): Gleason’s 1957 theorem uniquely selects |<phi|psi>|^2 given non-contextuality, which in (3+3) is a consequence of the S^2 Riemannian metric rather than an independent postulate. Route 3 (Lévy measure + t_2 isotropy): the t_2 expansion perturbs all t_3 directions isotropically; the unique continuous binary-outcome probability measure is the Lévy / Haar-invariant spherical measure, which gives P(+n_A) = cos^2(theta/2). The three routes use distinct mathematical tools (projection, Hilbert-space theorem, stochastic analysis) and distinct physical inputs (geometry, Riemannian metric, dynamical isotropy). They must converge if the geometric identification is correct; they would diverge if it were wrong. Malus’s 1809 law is the Born rule avant la lettre. The empirical optical law taught to undergraduates as a fact is, under this reading, a direct geometric consequence of photon polarisations being directions on S^2 — a statement about projection geometry that predates quantum mechanics by a century. The same geometric identification simultaneously resolves four foundational puzzles: (1) Schrödinger’s cat is never in superposition (the cat’s ~10^29 t_3 modes are entrained by environmental t_2 perturbation within femtoseconds of the first atomic interaction); (2) the three-polariser paradox dissolves (non-commuting measurements are non-commuting rotations on S^2); (3) the Bell/Tsirelson bound 2sqrt(2) is a geometric consequence of S^2 having dimension exactly 2 — empirical confirmation by loophole-free Bell tests (Hensen, Giustina, Shalm 2015) confirms the S^2 identification; (4) the cosmological decoherence floor tau_cosm = 1/H_0 ~ 14.5 Gyr is a structural upper bound on quantum coherence set by the t_2 cosmic expansion — distinguishing the framework from many-worlds interpretations. Three supporting elegance claims establish the framework’s quantum-foundational coherence: (A) the complex-valuedness of psi in C follows from t_2 being a rotation (the imaginary unit i is the generator of the t_2 precession rotation); (B) the Schrödinger equation i hbar dpsi/dt = H psi is the infinitesimal form of t_2 precession rotating the phase of the t_3 configuration; (C) the canonical commutation [x, p] = i hbar follows from the foam lattice structure. The paper is complementary to the companion Quantum Computing preprint [DOI 10.5281/zenodo.19651560] which uses the Bloch-sphere-as-S^2 identification for applied hardware-level proposals. The Born Rule paper provides the foundational underpinning for why that identification is correct at the level of quantum-mechanical first principles. The paper is honest about what remains open. Four specific items are explicitly acknowledged (§11): (1) the framework does not yet have a 6D Lagrangian formulation from which the Born rule would fall out of path-integral quantisation; (2) the uniqueness of the S^2 identification is only partially addressed — higher-dimensional spheres are ruled out by the Tsirelson bound, but tori and Calabi–Yau alternatives are not examined; (3) the path-integral reformulation of quantum mechanics within (3+3) has not been constructed; (4) detailed comparison with QBism, relational quantum mechanics, and consistent histories is outside the paper’s scope. Falsifiability. Six routes: Tsirelson-bound overshoot/undershoot beyond 2sqrt(2) + measurement precision; indefinite quantum coherence beyond cosmological timescales; real-valued QM experimental confirmation (already ruled out by Renou et al. 2021, reconfirmed by independent tests); detection of genuine contextuality; detection of discrete S^2 cell structure at near-Planck scales. The Born rule, in (3+3), is not a mysterious postulate; it is Malus’s Law on a compact sphere that nobody knew was there.

Tsirelson's Bound Without Hilbert Space: A Geometric Derivation of 2√2 from Deterministic Projection on S²

Filipe Bastos

How does a purely geometric projection — without Hilbert space, tensor products, or the Born rule — recover the exact quantum correlation E(a,b) = −cos θ and saturate Tsirelson's bound 2√2?We derive both results from the involution φ(x) = 9 − x on the digit alphabet {1, …, 9}, which generates four inversion pairs summing to 9 with barycenter μ = 4.5 and projection constant k_arc = 1/2. A hidden variable λ emitted by the source is projected sequentially onto detector axes a and b, each projection costing k_arc = 1/2. The product of two such projections yields E(a,b) = −cos θ, matching the quantum prediction exactly. The CHSH sum of four correlations at optimal angles gives S = 2√2, saturating Tsirelson's bound. The projection constant k_arc = 1/2 is established by seven independent paths: (I) global — barycenter over closure, 4.5/9; (II) local — half-span of the maximal pair, 3.5/7; (III) per-pair — every inversion pair individually encodes half-span/span = 1/2; (IV) positional — exact center of the sequence 1–8, with four elements on each side; (V) cadastral — the barycenters of the three row-pairs {2,4}, {5,7}, {8,1} average to 4.5; (VI) geometric — the interface mirror 11 divided by π = 22/7 gives 3.5, then 3.5/7 = 1/2; (VII) linker — 5.5/11 = 1/2, the barycenter of the phase cycle over the interface operator. Seven paths, sharing neither data nor method, converging to the same constant. This excludes numerical coincidence. No Hilbert space is assumed. No tensor product is constructed. No Born rule is invoked. The correlation is geometric, not probabilistic.New in v4.0: We add the complete arithmetic foundation — the Universal Fold Theorem proving that every multiplication table folds into inversion pairs summing to 9, the visual multiplication table mirrors, and the proof that base 10 is not arbitrary. We introduce entanglement as bipolar inversion: if x + φ(x) = 9, knowing x determines φ(x) instantaneously at any distance — not by causal signal but by structural constraint. This is quantum entanglement without mystery. Einstein's objection to "spooky action at a distance" is resolved: the correlation is not action, it is structure. The minimum of relation is 2 = DR(11), the interface operator — the smallest cost of knowing the other. Keywords: Tsirelson's bound, quantum correlations, Bell inequality, CHSH, geometric projection, hidden variables, digital roots, inversion symmetry, entanglement, EPR, sevenfold convergence.

From Primitives to the Bell–Tsirelson Bound

Allen Proxmire

In 1964, John Bell showed that any local hidden‑variable theory must satisfy a specific inequality on correlations between distant measurements. In its CHSH form (Clauser, Horne, Shimony, Holt 1969), the inequality reads |S| = |E(a,b) + E(a,b′) + E(a′,b) − E(a′,b′)| ≤ 2, where E(a,b) is the correlation between measurement outcomes at two separated parties using settings a and b. Any local realist theory respects this bound. Quantum mechanics violates it. Experiments confirm the violation. The standard quantum prediction for a maximally entangled state with optimal measurement angles is |S| = 2√2 ≈ 2.828. In 1980, Boris Tsirelson proved that 2√2 is not just one quantum prediction — it is the *maximum* value any quantum correlation can produce. No quantum state, no measurement scheme, no clever protocol can push |S| beyond 2√2. The bound is sharp, the value is exact, and it has been measured in laboratories around the world to experimental precision. The Tsirelson bound is one of the deepest empirical structures in physics. It tells us that quantum correlations exceed classical correlations by a specific, finite amount — there is room to violate Bell’s inequality, but only so much room. The number 2√2 has no obvious physical interpretation. It does not appear in the formulation of quantum mechanics. It emerges from the mathematics of the bipartite Hilbert space when the CHSH operator is constructed and bounded. The question is where it comes from. In standard QM, the answer is that it falls out of the Hilbert‑space structure plus Cauchy–Schwarz plus an operator‑norm bound on the CHSH operator. Technically correct, and Tsirelson’s 1980 proof remains the canonical derivation — but it leaves the deeper structure unanswered. The Hilbert space is postulated. The inner product that makes Cauchy–Schwarz available is postulated. The bipartite tensor‑product structure on H_A ⊗ H_B is postulated. The 2√2 value is what those postulates produce when run through the CHSH operator. This walkthrough shows how the Event Density framework derives the Tsirelson bound from a smaller set of structural commitments. The Hilbert‑space structure, the inner product, and the bipartite tensor‑product structure all emerge as forced consequences of the substrate ontology rather than being postulated. With those structures forced rather than assumed, Tsirelson’s 1980 argument applies directly, and the 2√2 value is no longer the output of a chain of postulates but the output of a chain of derived theorems. Like Heisenberg, Bell–Tsirelson is a place where the framework’s contribution is upstream. The bound itself is mathematical physics already in the literature; what changes is the foundational status of the structures the argument requires. ED does not produce a new derivation step beyond standard QM here — it removes the postulational status of the structures the standard derivation already uses. The 2√2 value is now a derived consequence of the substrate ontology, all the way down.

Geometry First: Quantum Mechanics, Gravity, and the Origin of the Standard Model from a Single Conservation Law

Jack Menendez

Important status notice: This version has been superseded by v2.0. Subsequent work shows that the single-domain three-diagonal construction used here produces an experimentally excluded common-mode photon-speed anisotropy. Readers should consult the revised version and 10.5281/zenodo.21464971. We propose that conservation of probability — the single axiom A=1 — is sufficient to derive the principal results of quantum mechanics without additional postulates. On a bipartite three-dimensional causal lattice T³_diamond, each particle is represented as a causal session: an independent phase oscillator that propagates amplitude across the lattice subject to |ψ_R|² + |ψ_L|² = 1 at every tick. No Hamiltonian and no measurement postulate are assumed; a Hilbert-space structure with unitary evolution emerges from the U(1) oscillator and the per-session amplitude constraint rather than being postulated a priori. From this single constraint, the paper derives: (i) the Dirac equation in the continuum limit a→0, with the gamma matrices identified as geometric encodings of the bipartite RGB/CMY sublattice geometry; (ii) wave-particle duality and the Born rule as consequences of amplitude redistribution under A=1, with Gleason's theorem securing the |ψ|² uniqueness from the framework's emergent Hilbert space; (iii) quantization of atomic orbitals as Arnold tongue attractors of the two-body phase dynamics, recovering the hydrogen Bohr radius to four significant figures (k_min = 0.0970 vs k_Bohr = 0.0971) without fitting; (iv) gravity as a clock-density gradient rather than spacetime curvature — a refraction of causal paths through regions of higher session density, reproducing the 1/r² force law with an explicit weak-field metric tensor g_μν as a functional of the clock-density field; (v) photon emission as a structural consequence of A=1: the Coulomb interaction is a probability source that a single session cannot accommodate, mandating creation of a new photon session at orbit lock-in; (vi) the structural form of the induced gauge action (Sakharov / Zeldovich), whose leading-order term has the Maxwell form on O_h-averaged observables, with a closed-form gauge-sector birefringence sharing the same optical axis (1,1,−1) as the kinematic-sector prediction. Energy and momentum conservation are not independent inputs — they are consequences of A=1 applied to closed session sets. The numerically tractable results are verified or partially verified by a suite of more than fifteen experiments with no free parameters beyond the Planck-scale calibration of the lattice spacing; an audit table records the status of every claim. The paper conjectures that the Standard Model gauge group SU(3) × SU(2) × U(1), together with Lorentz SO(3,1), is the automorphism group of the framework's extended per-site amplitude — a precise 18-dimensional Lie-algebra equality. The existing framework is shown to carry SO(3,1) × U(1) (dim 7) on the per-site (ψ_R, ψ_L) amplitude; the remaining factors require structural extensions (per-site C² isospin and C³ colour indices) that are the subject of a companion paper. Six computational scaffolding scripts establish the conjecture's components. This is Paper I of the A=1 Discrete Causal Lattice series. Companion papers in preparation address the Standard Model gauge derivation, the Farey-sequence mass spectrum (and its Veneziano-amplitude limiting case), plasma and gradient-ionization phenomenology, the proton-interior structure, quantum measurement theory, and a Hilbert-6th-style combinatorial foundation for continuum physics. What changed in v1.0 (since v0.98-RC): * Three new audit-table rows: long-horizon escape mechanism (PART), lock-in resonance grid-independence across {65, 81, 97, 113}³ grids (PART), and the Standard Model gauge-group conjecture as a precise 18-dimensional Lie-algebra equality (STUB).* A Gleason-uniqueness subsubsection in the Born-rule discussion, addressing the necessity question for the |ψ|² measure.* An explicit metric-tensor formula in the gravity section, identifying g_μν as a functional of ρ_clock in the weak-field limit.* Refined automorphism conjecture with explicit decomposition into established and structural-extension factors.* New Acknowledgments section. Bell Correlations from Bilateral Crossing Geometry

Kevin Packler, Claude - Sonnet 4.6 Anthropic

Bell Correlations from Bilateral Crossing Geometry Kevin Birke Packler1 and Claude - Sonnet 4.6 (Anthropic)21Aureole Foundation, Wake Forest, NC2Anthropic, San Francisco, CA Introduction Bell’s theorem is among the most consequential results in the foundations of physics. Derivedin 1964 and confirmed experimentally across five decades, it establishes that no local hidden variable theory can reproduce the statistical predictions of quantum mechanics. The measured correlation between spin outcomes on entangled particles follows E(ˆa, ˆb) = − cos θ—a result incompatible with any account in which measurement outcomes are determined by pre-existing local properties. What Bell’s theorem does not provide is a causal account of why quantum mechanics produces this correlation. The standard derivation proceeds from three postulates: the singlet as the joint state of the entangled pair, the Born rule as the probability measure, and the SU(2) spin operators as the measurement observables. Each is assumed. The calculation 1 is then exact and in complete agreement with experiment. But the question of why these postulates hold—why entanglement exists, why the Born rule takes the form it does, whythe measurement operators are elements of SU(2)—is left unanswered. Quantum mechanicsis predictively complete. It is not causally complete. This paper operates at the causal level that quantum mechanics does not reach. We derive the Bell correlation function from a single geometric axiom—the bilateral crossing— without postulating the quantum state, the Born rule, or the structure of the measurement operators. All three emerge from the fold cascade of the bilateral framework as necessary consequences of geometry. The result E(ˆa, ˆb) = − cos θ follows with zero free parameters. The bilateral framework originates in Cosmic Egg Theory (CET) [1], a parameter-free geometric derivation of physical structure from the bilateral axiom 1/0 = ±1. The present paper is self-contained for the Bell derivation. The framework is summarized in Section 2; its full development, including the derivation of the fine structure constant α from three Packler factors across three dimensional folds, is given in [1]. The derivation proceeds in four steps. First, we show that the bilateral crossing operation necessarily generates the complex numbers: the crossing requires two dimensions, its unique fixed point structure forces point inversion, point inversion is an element of SO(2), and the connectedness of SO(2) generates i (Section 3). Second, we show that the third fold of the bilateral cascade produces the minimum geometric structure supporting genuine spatial enclosure—the tetrahedron—and identify the observer as the interior of this structure (Section 4). Third, we derive the bilateral pair state by representing the complement operation in the SU(2) spinor representation: the bilateral complement is the unique anti-unitary operation mapping each eigenstate to its bilateral opposite, which is time reversal Θ, and the joint state Ps|s⟩ ⊗ Θ |s⟩ evaluates to the singlet (Section 5). Fourth, we apply the unique SU(2)-invariant inner product at fold-3 the Born rule—to the derived singlet and measurement operators to obtain E = − cos θ (Section 6). Section 7 identifies the fine structure constant α as the fold-3 transmission coefficient and establishes the geometric status of the Born rule. Section 8 discusses the implications for entanglement, non-locality, the measurement problem, and the observer threshold. The connection to the Consciousness Detection Framework [2] is drawn there. The central claim of this paper is precise: Bell correlations are not a consequence of pos-tulated quantum mechanics applied to an assumed entangled state. They are a consequence of bilateral crossing geometry propagated through three folds. The geometry is the cause. Quantum mechanics is the effect. Born Rule from (A)∧(B)-Admissible Amplitudes in the PDL Framework

Cédric Laubscher

The Projective Dynamic Logo (PDL) framework derives quantum dynamics from combinatorial axioms on finite signed graphs. This paper addresses the measurement problem at Level 1: it proves that the Born rule P₊ = |⟨+θ|ψ⟩|² emerges from the (A)∧(B) stability criterion without presupposing probability or the Hilbert space inner product. The derivation proceeds in three steps. First, the coherence indicator χ(τ; σ) ∈ {+1, −1} is defined as a purely combinatorial quantity over triangle orientations, with no probabilistic content. Second, the coherence cost εcoh(σ₊; θ, ψ) = |⟨−θ|ψ⟩|² is established from the (A)∧(B) apparatus symmetry conditions, with numerical residual 5.55×10⁻¹⁶ over 20,000 state-angle pairs. Third, P₊ = 1 − εcoh = |⟨+θ|ψ⟩|² follows by normalisation, algebraically. All five Gleason axioms are verified for this assignment with residuals ≤ 1.1×10⁻¹⁵, and the Gleason uniqueness theorem — stated in full as a self-contained result — guarantees that this is the unique admissible probability assignment on the Hilbert space of spin-½ states. A structural diagnostic is provided: uniform triangle weights α_τ = 1/N_T yield the Heaviside function Θ(cosθ), with maximum discrepancy 1.00 (exact), confirming that the Born cos²(θ/2) distribution is not trivial and requires the specific geometric weight structure of K₄⊗G_app. This result closes OP5 of D32 at Level 1. Level 2 — the derivation of triangle weights α_τ from PDL axioms without presupposing the spin Hilbert space inner product — remains open.
